right serious question now, Do you have meeetings? religious holidays, etc?

Our only "official" meetings are online; and Jediism Gathering (which I can't attend this year).

However, many Jedi meet in smaller groups from time-to-time; just to be able to actually talk to each other.

We don't have any holidays, either.

Any more? hehe

Jedism isn't over 5000 years old. But, some of the ideas are taken from religions that are...thus, it is building upon ideas, that are over 5000 years old....if I caught his meaning correctly....

Yep, Gazrok's got it right. The path of the history of Jediism, not Jediism itself, is 5,000 years old. Hinduism, Buddhism, Gnosticism, etc. - those paths make up the path of Jediism

Yep. This is because we recognize the truths in these various religions are very similar; and in fact, most of the goals and teachings are the similar - if not the same; they are merely presented differently. This also makes it much easier to be more open and tolerant of those of different religions.
Also, as I stated above, you need not give up your current religion to become a Jediist. We have quite a few Christian-Jedi; Buddhist-Jedi; Tao-Jedi, and just Jedi (I fall into this category). As far as I know, the Christian-Jedi believe that the Force is an extention of God (or something similar); the Buddhists & Taoists functions no differently, other than adding belief in the Force; the plain Jediists believe that the Force is the equivalent of a "God".

Most also go by this belief as presented in the Order of the Jedi Priests Commitment:

I recognize the Force as being the golden thread of Light that ties together the truths of every major religion, philosophy, and meditative path. My quest is for illumination, and my service is to the Light side of the Force, the good, of which the Light comprises and which I fully embrace, uphold, serve and defend.

Now; for those who have read this thread and haven't responded, thinking this is stupid, or a sci-fi geek-fest: I'm not going to try and convince you otherwise, because I would fail horribly. However, I will say this: Surely, you can agree that there are worse paths to follow than the path of the Jedi Knights?

As always, feel free to ask me any more questions about Jediism; how to join, the Jediism Code, meditation, etc. - I'll do my best to answer for ya.

I need no outside recognition of it...
I believe in the "force" that is the universe, and the connection between all things...and my ideals run parallel with that of Jedism... However, it is also my belief, that once you ascribe yourself as adhering to an established "religion", you close your mind, and become more biased in your outlook.....

Question one: Thier is an unoffical The Making of Star Wars documentary. I have seen it at the store but have not watched it. The doco seemed to suggest bizare happenings and accidents on and of the set surrounding the actors of episode four. Has any one seen it is this true?

Question two: Like or hate the SW saga it has unquestionably had a huge effect on Generation X. Master yoda exposes young people to spiritual philosiphies that are thousands of years old and Luke provides a positive role model. I want to know if anyone believes that Gorge Lucaus recieved inseperation for his saga from a off world source. If so who and why.

Lucus in Sydney recently announced that eppisode three is going to be alot darker, all the good guys die and the dark side wins. Coincidence.

Dont say the "G" word. The Tao that is spoken of is not the true Tao.

I've never met anybody whose read the Tao Te Ching before. I also would like to know what anybody thinks of chapter fourty two.

Sorry for having no real questions about the force. What you guys are doing is positive however I feel you guys are doing something that was going to be happening anyway. What ever the Way is it does'nt need a name, site, taxfilenumber, or any abstract artificail construct. Remember the matrix failes because individuals reject the programme on mass. The arcitect of the matrix had already desighned a new programme with new code. He was only waiting for the One to assimilate his code. Beware the Darkness.

Unity in all things.

Tao...hehe, it's right next to my Siddartha book...

I'd have to reference it again to see that chapter...42, eh?

I don't think GL got any off-world advice. He himself claims that he constructed Jedism from existing religions such as Taoism, Buddhism, Hinduism, etc. and that it mirrors his personal beliefs.... Yet, I doubt even GL would refer to himself as a "Jedi" per se....

Of course the third movie will be darker! The bad guys have to win, because it's they who are in power in Episode 4....
Anakin will become Vader, Vader will then destroy the Jedi. This simply has to be....

I really hope the world does not see the rise of a serious religion which sprang from a poorly developed, hacknied work of putrid fiction which is not even as sophisticated as the Saturday movie serializations it was copied from.

-sigh-

It seems not any more realistic than this:

William

Skeptics see all religions in that light. Creation myths are all very interesting.

we'll have words when you start dissin' Star Wars....

Sure, I've always wondered why they made a beeline for the secret Rebel base, when Leia knew they were being tracked....
But you can't deny that Star Wars, for many of us, who saw it in the theaters, as kids, it totally changed our outlook on life, and movies have never been the same since....

Nah... you just haven't read any quality science fiction up until you saw the Star Wars movie.

I was pretty young...

However, it wasn't the story...it was the presentation. The idea that a totally fabricated reality, could be made to seem so real, I think, was Star Wars' claim to fame, and what made it such a landmark film.

Gazrok, you speak with wisdom.

One can never find true enlightenment if bound by 'rules' & 'regulations'.

It is a shame that not everyone thinks like us, for if they did, the human race would evolve much quicker to the next stage of 4th dimensional evolution.

Jediism is just another name for the fundamental princiciples of all religions, with a bit of escapism and glamour thrown in.

This is not to say that I don't think the members are genuine people.

Peace and Love.

Thanks for the compliment.... I often feel that the concept of organized religion has held up our development for centuries....*sigh*

Hallo again!

I was born and raised in the mormon church. For people to leave that religion it is somtimes a case of loosing family friends and even a spouse. Such a sad thing. Religions are engineered of the back of true spirituality by inteligent men for the perpose of inslaving minds.

Fortunately for myself I used knowledge to break the programming. Now I am free. That is why it is so sad when people ask me what I am. Am I supose to say Taoist, Gnostic, Spiritualist, Scientist or conspiricy theorist cyber junky. Are we left with duality. Is thier another place. In the words of the angry jewish God Iam who Iam. The Tao that is spoken of is not the true Tao.

It is also sad that there are religions that hide behind such terms as Sceptic, Scientist reductionist, Economic rationalist, Liberal, Democrat yes the list is endless. Programming is started at a young age and it is not monopolised by the mormon church. Beware the darkness!

Unity in all things.
