Just breaking...

DUBAI, Jan 11 (Reuters) - Iran seized a tanker with Iraqi crude destined for Turkey on Thursday in what appeared to be a retaliation for the seizure last year of the same vessel by Tehran's arch foe the United States, Iranian media reported.

The Marshall Islands-flagged tanker St Nikolas, which last year was confiscated by the United States for carrying Iranian oil, was boarded by armed intruders as it sailed close to the Omani city of Sohar, according to British maritime security firm Ambrey, and its AIS tracking system was turned off as it headed in the direction of the Iranian port of Bandar-e-Jask.

This could be big...as, no doubt, Joe Biden will feel the need to give Iran a few stern mumbled words in retaliation.
MORE as this develops.

ALL of this would never have happened...if Iran and the rest of the world didn't see the US President as the weak and incompetent joke that he is.

Mr Potato Head won't do anything. He'll send out his press secretary Jean Luc Picard or what ever her name is to say "I can't speak to that" and then run away.

From your link it does not seem to be a US tanker.

Send in the SAS or you're own Seal Teams.

And if there are any of the horrible terrorist scum left standing after they're done which will be doubtful.

Make them swim home.

I don't believe the tanker was ever Iranian.

Iran obviously feels it's justified to take back anything it wants. It's not like it's worried about Biden doing anything to stop it.

When pressed for comment, Biden mumbled incoherently, then yelled for several minutes before whispering that he loves ice cream. The Easter Bunny escorted him off stage. No mean tweets were posted, mostly because Biden exerted himself enough responding to all of secret emails addresses.

From what I read, the ship was once taken by the USA who confiscated its cargo of Iranian oil-as per sanctions.

The state-run IRNA news agency ran a brief story acknowledging the seizure by Iran's navy. It did not identify the vessel, but said the seizure came as a result of a judicial order.
The St Nikolas was once involved in a dispute with the US Justice Department that saw a million barrels of Iranian crude oil seized.

news.sky.com...

So it looks like Iran have decided to take this ship-as what? reparations for the oil the US took?
Good luck with that Iran.

If his track record is anything to go by-probably as near to nothing as possible while shouting about how tough he is,before gormlessly staring into space and drooling.

Sadly-thats also probably what the mullahs thought he would do before they decided to steal this vessel.

This has to be Putin again just like in Gaza trying to divert the West's attention away from Ukraine where he is now advancing. Can't believe Iran is so stupid to do his bidding, the BRICS must have one heck of a devious plan right now, just waiting for China to make the move on Taiwan. No good can come of any of this, drip drip drip, we are heading towards total world war.

It's a Greek owned oil tanker, flying under a Marshall Islands flag.

But, interestingly,:

The St Nikolas was seized in April by the US under its previous name, the Suez Rajan, as part of sanctions enforcement against Iran.

And I doubt that's coincidence.

Meh...Seize a tanker...Seize an island nation.

What's the difference when there's no consequences?

Good point while at the same time there are hidden hands who are engineering incidents like this regadless of toothless initial responses. The whole Ukraine, Gaza, now Hezbollah, plus the Houthis and Iranian pirates. The whole thing is blowing up out of control exactly how they want it, endgame full on confrontation and world war, if not the very minimum will be a attack in Iran and its nukes, totally inevitable at the minimum by the hidden hand

Exactly, Biden won’t do anything but let it happen.
He’s beholden to China for enriching his crime family.

China is just waiting for this whole Middle East fiasco to play out so they can grab that island.
They’ve only got about a year until Biden is out so time is of the essence.

Has The Secretary of Defense commented officially yet? 😀

Maybe he'll have a press conference but not tell anybody. 😃

It was never either countries tanker...its about the oil on board. The US siezed the tanker because it had Iran's oil and they just siezed it because its US oil.
