I'm not pro mandatory vaccines. I'll say it again for the hard of hearing, I'm not pushing mandates, it is and should be a personal choice. Clear?

If you folk feel strongly about blaming people then go crowd fund and launch a few law suits?

This about more than vaccine mandates.

We could talk about excessively long lockdown policies that picked economic winners and lovers, shut people in with abusers, kept kids out of school for as long as a year or more. Or how about the masks that created a reign of entitled Karen's and damaged childhood development? But yes, there are also those vaccines.

I ran into a few of those, as well.

I had a guy come all the way across a parking lot (about 30 yds, or so), to literally scream at me from about three feet away, to put on a mask...

My response was pointed, and rather succinct, and two words...I'll allow you to guess.

I was told by someone at work that I should be fired for not vaccinating myself. Oddly enough, he got Covid not once, not twice, but three times--after his oh so wonderful vaccination, and boosters. Me? Not once, though I have lost work because people around me caught the Covid.

I was yelled at by a EMT who was there, supposedly, to help my sister who caught the Covid--instead, he spent five minutes lecturing me about masking up...rather than helping my sister. My response was, once again, short and to the point.

"Don't worry about me. Do your damned job." Next day, I left a complaint at the dept. he works for.

Oster's opinion piece is no heart felt mea culpa. An appeal to emotion and sleight of hand.

Her call to amnesty a mere wringing plea to the harmed for pity to those that were, in her opinion, merely misguided and ill-informed.

She wants no more fighting between COVID believers and COVID sceptics and is clear, COVID deniers push misinformation and should be ignored.

Ms Oster has set up a straw man. If this amnesty idea gains traction, the new bogeyman in the room will be those who question control vector narratives around how beleaguered the poor politicians and the WHO that provided guidance.

The UK public enquiry will achieve the same as all previous examples. Costly exoneration for all the decision makers, maybe a few middle managers hung out to dry, very little actual data from multiple sources, a verbose treatice on lessons learned and a bunch of recommendations easily ignored.

There's the key. Right there.

I know how to run my life. I've managed just fine, thank you very much, for over 60 freakin' years now. If I want to change something, I'll change it. I know how. I do not need politicians and do-gooders and Sister Better-than-you forcing me to do things their way.

90% of the political arguments we go over every day on this site can be boiled down to that one simple thing: freedom to be who and what one wants. All the arguments are not over simple ideology... I don't care about someone's ideology. I only care when others decide they know how to run my life better than I do.

All of my RL friends have one simple thing in common: they accept me for who and what I am. In return I accept them for who and what they are. If someone can't accept me for who and what I am, then they can go somewhere else. I don't need or want them around.
