I would not have put it past the Chinese to engineer the virus to do exactly that, take care of the elderly problem, and if it got a few younger people along the way, well society and the greater good for society was more important than any individual. That is how socialism/communism work, all for the society, the individual has no worth.

That makes no sense at all becsuse the Chinese Government brought in a strict lockdown, and compared to other countries, hardly anyone died.

So if that was their plan, they failed miserably.

ANY virus that goes worldwide and kills off a decent portion of the world population is a plague.

COVID 19 is a plague on the world.

The definition of plague used as a verb is: VERB
cause continual trouble or distress

I would say COVID 19 is causing continual trouble and distress around the world, thanks China.

Sorry, but you are wrong. The only thing they have in common is they both are infectious diseases that spread to humans from certain animals.

Covid 19 is caused by a virus, while the plague is caused by bacteria, which are single celled organisms.

Hence the reason antibiotics work on bacteria, and not on viruses. This is the reason if you get the plague (as we know it) it is easily treatable with antibiotics.

So, they are not the same thing.

I think this may go far deeper than an election in the US.

What if China released a new virus, what would be the consequences? We could not hold China to account without evidence.

What would this new virus do the the US and their super power status and could China become the next super power in the world?

We already know this is their aim, they have said so publicly, if China becomes an unrivalled super power, I think will be for at least the next 100 years.

This is what is at stake. The world is a stake.

So, let me get this straight. China's whole economy is based of trading eith the West. So, China decided to unleash a virus that crippled the wests economy, the countries they rely on. If these countries economies fail, then China's economy fails.

So, can you bow see how your logic is flawed?

Jesus!

China's economy would not survive if the west economies crumble!

It's not rocket science!

I shared your same argument in the past...

Well they were like this for like 30 years, but in the last 10 they started to change their model. It is harder and harder to get your business in China these last 5+ years. Many are leaving as China tightens the screws. China is becoming isolationists, so they want to now own the world not trade with it. No reason to build their navy as they been lately if they are not after the land now.

How are they going to keep their economy strong without the West? It is simply not possible because their whole economy is based on trade with the West. There is no way they would survive if their trade stopped eith the West, or if the wests economy takes a hit because of the virus.

I can bow to some of it being flawed absolutely, I am not saying I am correct but...

I don't think its about China losing their economy, this is about who comes out with the strongest economy afterwards.

The west's economy has been seriously damaged, far more than China. If China is in a position to rebound their economy then they will undoubtedly over take the west very quickly.

This I believe may be about who recovers fastest and the best. China has the one belt one road in place now, they have already removed their reliance on the west.

This is far deeper than many realise I believe. China has spent the last few years building this economic strength separate from the west. They have been very busy.

America and the west are snowed under with corona virus. China has a plan that's for sure, we don't as far as I can tell.

One belt one road, involves over 60 Countries

Its because their economy is not as strong as you may think. They were taking huge hits before the virus, and much of it was faked with huge government subsidies in everything to keep a 10% growth picture going, but at some point you need to pay the piper, and to add to it 800 million moved from extreme poverty to lower middle class. China isn't cheap labor anymore and that just adds to it all and industry will most likely move on to another area that does have that cheap labor just as it did with Japan and Korea.

Please explain how China, whose whole economy is best on trade with the West, can come out the strongest? That would put China back decades if that happend.

The west's economy has been seriously damaged, far more than China. If China is in a position to rebound their economy then they will undoubtedly over take the west very quickly.

You think China's economy has not been hit by the virus? The countries and business they rely on are suffering, so of course it will effect China.

This I believe may be about who recovers fastest and the best. China has the one belt one road in place now, they have already removed their reliance on the west.

Does not matter. China's economy will always rely on the west. They are tied together. China has nothing to other the world, apart from its trade. What else can they offer?

This is far deeper than many realise I believe. China has spent the last few years building this economic strength separate from the west. They have been very busy.

It's not separate to the West, it's tied to the West, and always eill be. There is absolutly no reason for China to release a virus onto the world. It makes no sense in the slightest.

America and the west are snowed under with corona virus. China has a plan that's for sure, we don't as far as I can tell.

There is no agenda here. A few years back, the same was being said about Russia remember? The west is suffering because of the virus, and China is suffering the effects of that.

And it's not weak either, but what keeps it going, their whole economy, is trade eith the West. If they lost that, there is nothing to keep their economy going.

They were taking huge hits, just like every big player does. Absolutly nothing new there. Releasing a virus does absolutly nothing to benafit them. Not one thing.

Sorry, but China is still cheap labour. Has there been an improvement? Yes, but it's still cheap labour.

Companies will always want to deal in cheap labour if they want their products made or bought cheap, then it's always going to be the case. You think China workers in factories are on good money now? They are not.

China's militarisation of the South China Sea islands does indeed show an agenda I have to say.

Gonna keep an eye on this like everyone else I guess.

If its real, and not a different strain of Covid19, then either its one hell of a coincidence, or someone somewhere is playing with bio-warfare

You know the liberal left environmentalist goal, of killing hundreds of millions of people on the planet to achieve the goal of only 500,000 left alive.

Biowarfare is the way to go if you are a staunch liberal left environmentalist. For them the goal is more important than humanity.

Right now there are 550,000,000 people on the planet, that means 549,500,000 must die "to save the planet"

Uh, last time I looked there were over 7 Billion folks on this little orb...

You will be hard pressed to find evidence that will hold China responsible. I believe it was an accidental release as it seems that they weren't finished developing it. Still, if they were engineering weaponized pathogens (it looks like it to me) then they must have intended to use it sooner or later (at least as a M.A.D. tactic).

After the coronavirus outbreak began, officials at the lab [Wuhan] destroyed samples of the virus, erased early reports, and suppressed academic papers

The rise of China will undoubtedly be one of the great dramas of the twenty-first century. China's extraordinary economic growth and active diplomacy are already transforming East Asia, and future decades will see even greater increases in Chinese power and influence. But exactly how this drama will play out is an open question. Will China overthrow the existing order or become a part of it? And what, if anything, can the United States do to maintain its position as China rises?

Some observers believe that the American era is coming to an end, as the Western-oriented world order is replaced by one increasingly dominated by the East.
