If you go back in the thread, seems we had vid and pictures as it was happening, heck, even a manifesto, which was then discounted, and then paraded back out. We even have the shooter, who will no doubt talk and talk and talk. This whole event has been perfect for people who glue themselves to their smartphone gods and media propaganda.

That's the problem with the current political environment nowadays, whenever there is a incident like this people on all sides seem to be looking for motives they can use to paint their target group with as broad a brush as possible and make one side or the other aligned with the perpetrator.

People seem to be looking for it before the blood is drying and bodies removed.

If the perpetrator is a radical left liberal, or radical right wing both sides will exploit it to the fullest level possible.

You see this crap in Democrat run Chicago and you see it in Republican controlled Texas.

24 injured.

20 dead, possibly more if any of the injured succumb to their wounds.

Today’s mass shooter (horrible that the phrase rolls off the tongue with no more difficulty than “Today’s Special”!) is a male in his twenties.

The perpetrator of the recent Gilroy mass shooting was a male just 19 years old.

I can’t help but think that there is some connection, some “common denominator”, tenuous though it may be, that exists for us to discover, define, and that can somehow lead us to a “diagnosis” that will allow us to prevent these horrors sometime in the future.

I'd say you'd have to be somewhat incredibly detached in order to do something like this, it does not require emotion.

He did express some emotion about having his family look down on him (if he wrote this manifesto). To me, it also read like he was giving advice to other potential shooters.

You can in one way:

It's all young male violence. Most of the young males we're talking about had poor parenting or single parent homes. Many of the white ones at least had drugs involved that messed with their brains.

But coming back to the root of it - it seems to be that our current state of society is currently producing unstable young men.

And to attribute all the shootings in Chicago or Baltimore as gang related is lazy.

I think kids today are hitting adulthood harder than ever before because of the coddling they receive in childhood. They are not learning to cope with disappointment, failure or even reality and then when life gets real they snap. Combine that with being able to easily find sympathy online for any random crazy thought and it's a dangerous combination.

I will never understand how or why every time something like this happens, it gets compared to inner city gang violence. It is SO much different, and you all know it. No, it's not because of "the color of the shooter" (there was a thread about that just a few days ago). I'll be the one to say it. No. The death of a gangbanger is nowhere near as tragic as the death of an innocent family, person, child, etc... who is at walmart buying groceries and school supplies, or a kid who died because he or she went to school that day. People willingly join gangs knowing that it's very likely a death sentence. Going shopping or going to school shouldn't hold the same fear.

They never had to "work/fight" for anything. It was just given to them, especially excuses, they have excuses for their own inabilities handed out to them left and right.

They don't want to "work hard for something", hell a lot of them don't even try to MATE because "it's too much work" or some other nonsense.

Truly a broken generation(or two).
