Interestingly, part of it how to coach your employees to come to you via open door policy, rather than using email to communicate problems in particular.

It also teaches how to encourage millennials to speak in public without crushing their soul and turning them into a crying puddle that quits rather than give a presentation.

It's always been who you know. Daddy used to get you an apprenticeship, Uncle owned a plumbing business, etc...

That's why teaching children to socialize with someone that isn't an avatar is very important to get on in the world.

I think one thing that would help, society as a whole and maybe in preventing situations like this. Is more mentorship programs.

More programs, easier accessibility and more importantly more men willing to take the time to participate.

Boys/ Young Men are not(largely due to fatherless homes) being taught about what it is to be a man and what that role in society means. This person was not a man, a real man, very far from it. I'm sure you can point to failures from multiple points(himself included).

This week is going to be unbearable. The using of peoples grief for political gains and driving more hate and violence towards people you dont agree with is going to be on full display. In the face of violence and suffering that just happened. I want to just go away to my happy place for a while.

Do not forget the MSM must get their mileage:

CNN:

A 21-year-old white man from Allen, Texas, is in police custody

ABC:

The suspect was identified by authorities as Patrick Crusius, 21, of Allen, Texas.

CBS:

White male suspect identified as Patrick Crusius taken into custody without incident

FOX:

The suspected gunman has not been publicly named, but two law enforcement officials identified him to The Associated Press as 21-year-old Patrick Crusius, a native of the Dallas area.

Two of these felt the need to stress he was white..... two didn't.

Once you start paying attention.....it's obvious what some in the MSM are hell bent in doing......racial divide, newest damn thing since the Mueller report.

Just to say: I clicked on this thread to find out the info on the shooting today at the El Paso Walmart, as it all happened while I was at work, and this is the first chance I've had to look up what happened.

It's really annoying that I can't find any info on the subject of this thread, because starting on page 3 it's 30 pages of people arguing about gun control.

I get it, that the issue is going to come up when there is a mass shooting, but damn, is this thread even really about the El Paso incident anymore? Not really.

Anyone have a good summary of what we know about what happened today?

few other places on the net are comparing it to being an "incel" and that it could have to do with the newer generations feeling hopeless about their futures , kind of like the hokomori of japan but instead of hermits they go out and shoot people because they feel either unsatisfied with their lives or that they have no purpose so they wanna go out with a bang, some blame it on mental illness but i see that more as a reaction of normal people wanting to rationalize it because they cant fathom it being something not related to mental illness as their brains cant perceive it being an option.

im a mentally ill gun owner ive never wanted to go shoot a bunch of randoms, those thought have literally never entered my mind as an option and it makes absolutely no sense to me as to why some do this ,but ive also avoided ssris and anti depressants since i turned 18 as they definitely did bad things to my brain . mass shootings are a complex area that needs to be studied more as to what the REAL causes are and why they seem to be happening more frequently now then back in the day

school shootings predate America's founding and have occurred in each decade to the best of my knowledge in the USA since its founding, and from my limited research the only major change is the amount of media attention they get,the level of technological change in the usa, the amount of drugs prescribed, and the fact that now when they happen we dont ask "why" but politicize them and instead ask "what race" "what political ideology" "what religion" and the ever present "what drugs/mental illnesses did they have"

what we need to do is do research and find out the actual cause and from there we can then work on curtailing them and ideally stopping them before they happen with out eroding the rights of the general populace(read no thought crime) or using one group as a scapegoat to make other groups "feel safer" (for some its the Muslims/Christians ,for others the republicans/democrats and others any one with a mental illness)

this is turning into a much larger post then i intended but seriously we need to figure out the why

gun technology hasn't changed that much in the last 60 years (the ak47 for example the 47 stands for made/designed in 1947)

mental health treatment and even classifications have changed vastly even in that random "60 year timeline" i chose. from lock them up forget about them and throw away the keys ,to focusing on treatment and medication, even what makes you "mentally ill" has changed over the years so those that would want to vilify an entire subclass of society would do well to do research on how many outlandish things have been considered a "mental illness in the past" and the ever changing DSM , for one random example being gay/lesbian used to be classified as a mental illness in ye olden times

news media has sure as hell changed from the early founding of the nation and even in a 60 year period it went from just check your local paper to everything can be accessed on the internet in 5 minutes or less ,has this played a role? will it keep playing a role looking at ALL the issues combined may help us figure or at least start to figure this problem out

some blame guns but in countries with gun control they still happen either with guns (see brevik) knives (see the spate of mass stabbings in china from a few years ago,to the ethnic cleansing in Africa with machetes) to bombs(see McVeigh and OKC bombing and that one school shooting from the 20s i think where a teacher blew up the school) to vehicles (see Charlottesville, random vehicle attacks in china uk and france) hell there was even one attempted chemical weapon attack on the Japanese subway in the 80s i think by that crazy cultist , some further blame "gun culture" an those that do that should ask why mass attacks still happen in countries in many hemispheres that either dont have gun culture or have a culture that seems to detest mass attacks of any kind(see japan) and find out what the commonalities are between these diverse nations and cultures and those members of said societies that decide to wake up and for what ever reason to go out and kill as many humans as possible then and only then can we attempt to tackle this issue

and as im already basically ranting but want to cover all the bases , for those that would blame muslims for example for this kind of thing why do they not seem to do this to their own people outside of organized warfare/civil wars? why does it happen in china at increasing levels with knives or japan at all? what are the commonalities what do ALL types of these attacks have in common? then you can start to get your answers? every type of human does these things (using the three medical sub types of Negroid,Mongoloid, and Caucasoid) mass killings happen on every Continent but Antarctica(although people get killed there too like that research station where a scientist killed another scientist for spoiling his books) for a variety of reasons but only when we figured out the why can we even come close to tackling this issue.

I heard him say he and another man grabbed kids and left. I don't know if he had a firearm in hand. He wasn't roaming the mall.

News reports said he had his weapon unholstered, which the police then confiscated.

I listened to him again and that is not what he said. He carried 3 kids and raised his hands to show the police he was not the shooter/etc. His sidearm was holstered.

I agree that the expression is applicable in some circumstances, but specially young people are in danger of misunderstanding it and taking it as, "it doesn't matter how hard I work, I got my Daddy." Or uncle, or whatever. Or people thinking, "it doesn't matter how well I do in school, cause I know so and so and she'll get me in." etc. It's stealing the reward of hard work from them, they don't know the rewards of hard work, and also it's creating a generation of self entitled young people who act like everything should be handed to them without doing the work.

On the opposite side of the spectrum, I can understand how people feel about working hard while getting the same wages or marks as everybody else, or just never being acknowledged for it. When people work hard, I agree that they deserve some proper acknowledgement and that their hard work should be celebrated. Does that make me a millennial? I don't care. The hard work of many brilliant people have been celebrated, and thanks to them I am alive today with advanced medical technology and knowledge keeping me alive, not to mention plumbing and the internet and battling the heat with air conditioning. All thanks to the hard work of my fellow human beings.

And I agree with what some of the posters said prior, it's about all the bullsh-t people are being fed growing up, this being one of them "it's who you know not what you know..." and then when the real world hits, it hurts harder than ever.

I disagree..what would really help these programs is more "FIRINGS!". More reality!

If you don't do you job...you get FIRED! PERIOD!! No excuses, no "mentoring"...just FIRED!

I started out at the bottom of the barrel. I could never do anything right. I was the worst of the worst. People used to harass me, play tricks on me and basically beat the # out of me. My father owned the freeking company, and he actually condoned this. I was the "owner's son" and I was subjected to the worst of the worst. And, the "old Man" was from the iron-worker / steel industry. To him, that was the only way you'd ever be... "tough". I could never do anything right, and I got pounded on every day without one inch of sympathy...other than ..."If you don't like it, or can't handle it, BOY....then QUIT!! Just find another job, because you ain't living here!!! It's up to YOU!!"

I worked my ranks up through the company, starting as a laborer, with no respect. When I "broke out", I had the respect of everyone in the company, and not because "Dad" owned the company (he didn't then), but because I "earned" something...and it was called respect.

- no need to get spun up over what MSM is saying about this shooting. Nobody is watching those channels anymore. The ones that do already have their opinion shaped for them.

- nothing changes in regards to who is on the 2020 ticket for Dems or Republicans so the needle moving is minimal.

- this event (FF or not) takes the media attention away from;

1) failed Mueller hearing
2) Comey getting identified in IG Report (charged or not). The IG didn’t punt. Comey was not exonerated, lol.
3) AOC parting ways with money bags right hand man.
4) Omar parting ways from someone...again. Her love life reads like a pornhub video
5) Baltimore, rats, missing billions, and Cummings.
6) faux impeachment saber rattling.
7) Schumer joining sides with Trump on China
8) the CNN debates featuring the candidates from the Island of Misfit Dems.
9) Trump rally NOT having racial overtone spinability.
10) the Pedowood/Elites at their “carbon black” green shindig in Europe.
11) watching AOC and the Squat Cobblers yelling really loud.

My suggestion obviously predates the point(in time/age) of yours.

Boys....13-17...need mentoring.

Sadly today, young men 18-20 are still pretty much boys.

Solve the problem(isolation, being "lost", having no direction or drive, etc) before it reaches the point of were your suggestion would be applicable.

If you've got a death toll of 20 or so that automatically means more than one shooter.

You can't be serious can you?
I mean I know the answer to that question based on your general posting approach but what's the logic you used to speak in such absolutes.

My 80+ year old mother, who could not be described in any way as “liberal”, cannot relate any anecdote involving human beings without identifying the race(s) of the people involved.

She insists that she is neither “racist”, nor the least bit prejudiced about “those people”, that she is just “giving all the details” to her stories.

Yeah, OK.

Not to derail the thread, but, given the narrative regarding the “hate crime” slant the manifesto raises, I have a question:

Who, exactly, would benefit from a race war?

Who currently has the “upper hand”? Why?

While I think it's likely there may always be more than one, that statement is pretty much just drivel.

Police response was 6 minutes, any single shooter with a few hundred rounds of ammo(in whatever mag capacity) in a crowded store of a thousand people(low estimate) could easily kill that many.

So they are saying this guy was boxed in by police and pulled OUT OF HIS CAR at an intersection behind Walmart (and also hearing witnesses say that the El Paso Walmart parking lot is freaking HARD to get out of), offering no resistance. This guy scoped out this place and planned his assault very carefully. Shoot, I have trouble getting out of MY Walmart parking lot when nobody's been shooting up the works.

Also shots of (what seems to be) his residence outside Dallas. Some pretty fancy digs...this guy was no sad sack with a hard-working two-jobs single mom. I'd bet this guy came from MONEY.
