TOL, 5 decades ago, I worked post anesthesia recovery. We had an isolation room where a badly burned patient stayed for multiple days.

Because 80/90 percent of his body was burned and there was no skin viable for transplant, they used pigskin which was considered closest to human skin. It was an extreme attempt to save his life.

I cared for him the entire time and he was probably the most serious and difficult patient I ever had.

He died within a week and his cornea's were removed for transplant with consent of his family.

Some cases you never forget.
