I liked the season but I felt the finale could have been better. It was confusing with all the time slips. One was at the end when he is watching his grandkids ride bicycles down the street. To me, it reminded me of the boy and girl riding their bicycles in the beginning.

Was the woman he went to see, the same girl he had been looking for all these years? And did he just forget when eh finally found her? And his son stuck the address in his pocket. Will that be the next season. Revolving around the same story?

yes the girl at the end was the girl he was looking for
that was Julie

this is an anthology so next season being about that is not likely

And uk truth
I just read on pizzolatto insta about amelias death

He said

Amelia and Wayne living their lives in 2013 planning a vacation.
She died peaceful and sudden in her sleep.
Nothing nefarious
Just sad

I didn't even recognise him at first - still remember him from the Blade film with Wesley Snipes.
He put in a great performance in this True Detective season. It's a shame that character will probably never be seen again.

Yup.

I always think of him as deacon frost too.

He was a baby back then.

I loved the way the time slips were done, it was very Billy Pilgrim, in fact, what they did kind of rewrote Slaughterhouse Five for me. I also thought that there was a strong nod towards the Red Riding Trilogy structurally, nowhere near as dark of course and in retrospect it was a using that method in order to lead us to believe that like the previous two, this could only get darker. And then it didn't go there, just Ali going off into the dark never having fully shed his light.

That's some masterful story-telling.
