True Detective just started on HBO. I watched season 1 but skipped season 2.

Season 3 is off to a good start. Anyone else notice the West Memphis 3 influence? Obvious mis-direction. They have to be innocent.

I totally forgot about this.
Season 1 was some of the best television of recent years

Season 2 was a dissapointment ( well after S1 expectations were very high).
Thanks for the heads up !

Yes, and I also don't think it's 'Trashman'.

Sounds thrilling already. I shall try to wait until I can binge the whole season.

I would rather watch them as they come. Too much of a chance of spoilage by waiting to binge watch.

Episode 2 is already out. Another good one.

i caught up last nigh.
episode 7 is on tonight.

they are only 8 episode seasons so we are almost there.

it is pretty clear now what it going on so now they just need to tie up the why and the how.

i am most interested in if the mom, Lucy was in on it and to what extent and what was going on with the kids to where they had to lie to the parents and had a hole in their room to pass notes back and forth.
that is interesting.

I was thinking it was 10 episodes but you are right. Just 1 left. Did you recognize the voice of the caller at the end? I thought I did and it was who I thought it was...Michael Rooker.

Interesting ending - it could be interpreted in several ways.

Throughout the series I had a feeling that Wayne was somehow involved in the crime and his wife knew at some point (and was murdered because of it). ... a few little hints that could lead that way.

It's more through the season that I got the feeling.
There are some very subtle elements...
The girl calls up and says the man in the picture is not my father - Wayne was in the shot. It could have been him visiting the girl in the pink room.
All the explanations we get are from the old man's time - it is what he is telling himself?
We never hear how his wife died, but he is haunted by her... maybe he killed her after her research revealed the truth.
The deaths of people related to the case.
The end scene - hiding in the bushes.
There is a scene - very subtle - where Wayne visits the murder scene of the girls father.. he is seen inside his car, when he gets out of the car, it is a different car.. had he been there before?
The scene with his daughter at the end - odd.
There were a few other hints at this through the series... I might dig them out chronologically. It was a great series and desreves another watch.

I watched the first episode and have to say it bored me rigid and haven't watched any following episodes.

I'll probably give it another go in a few months time, it did take me three attempts to get past the first episode of the first series which I subsequently enjoyed immensely.
Couldn't get into the second series at all.

I liked the season but I felt the finale could have been better. It was confusing with all the time slips. One was at the end when he is watching his grandkids ride bicycles down the street. To me, it reminded me of the boy and girl riding their bicycles in the beginning.

Was the woman he went to see, the same girl he had been looking for all these years? And did he just forget when he finally found her? And his son stuck the address in his pocket. Will that be the next season. Revolving around the same story?
