Did YouTube go down to erase a livestream of an object hitting the moon?

According to this we'll soon know .

The idea that what humans witnessed and chronicled in 1178 A.D. was a major meteor impact that created the 22-kilometer (14-mile) lunar crater called Giordano Bruno is myth, a University of Arizona graduate student has discovered. And this should be welcome news for those worried by Deep Impact movie scenarios. The idea that 12th century people saw the impact that created a lunar crater more than 10 times as wide as Meteor Crater in northern Arizona has been popular since it was first proposed 25 years ago. But it doesn't hold up under scientific scrutiny, said Paul Withers of the UA Lunar and Planetary Laboratory. Such an impact would have resulted in a blinding, blizzard-like, week-long meteor storm on Earth - yet there are no such accounts in any known historical record, including the European, Chinese, Arabic, Japanese and Korean astronomical archives, Withers said. He reports the analysis and other tests of the hypothesis in this month's issue of Meteoritics and Planetary Science. The dramatic passage in question appears in the medieval chronicles of Gervase of Canterbury. About an hour after sunset June 18, 1178 A.D., a band of five eyewitnesses watched as the upper horn of the bright, new crescent moon "suddenly split in two. From the midpoint of this division a flaming torch sprang up, spewing out . . . fire, hot coals and sparks. . .The body of the moon , which was below writhed. . .throbbed like a wounded snake." The phenomenon recurred another dozen times or more, the witnesses reported. A geologist suggested in 1976 that this account is consistent with the location and age of Giordano Bruno, the youngest crater of its size or larger on the moon. A one-to-three kilometer wide (a half-mile to almost 5-mile wide) meteor blasted Giordano Bruno into the northeast limb of the moon. Such an impact on the Earth would be "civilization threatening," causing regional devastation to global climatic catastrophe - so it is important to know if such an event happened on the moon less than a millennium ago, Withers noted. The impact would have launched 10 million tons of ejecta into the Earth's atmosphere in the following week, previous studies have shown, Withers said. In the Meteoritics article, Withers reports his calculations on the properties of the subsequent meteor storm. "I calculate that this would cause a week-long meteor storm potentially comparable to the peak of the 1966 Leonids storm." Ten million tons of rock showering the entire Earth as pieces of ejecta about a centimeter across (inch-sized fragments) for a week is equivalent to 50,000 meteors an hour. "And they would be very bright, very easy to see, at magnitude 1 or magnitude 2. It would have been a spectacular sight to see! Everyone around the world would have had the opportunity to see the best fireworks show in history, " Withers said. Yet no vigilant 12th century sky watcher reported such a storm. So what did the witnessess see that the Canterbury monk recorded? "I think they happened to be at the right place at the right time to look up in the sky and see a meteor that was directly in front of the moon, coming straight towards them," Withers said. This idea was strongly suggested by others in a 1977 scientific paper. "And it was a pretty spectacular meteor that burst into flames in the Earth's atmosphere- fizzling, bubbling, and spluttering. If you were in the right one-to-two kilometer patch on Earth's surface, you'd get the perfect geometry," he said. "That would explain why only five people are recorded to have seen it. "Imagine being in Canterbury on that June evening and seeing the moon convulse and spray hot, molten rock into space, " Withers added. "The memories of it would live with you for the rest of your life."

We don't have to believe that Trump is John Titor either, it's the journey that contains the thrills.

The moon is probably the most observed object on or off the earth at any given time. I dont think the PTB have the juice to shut the whole worlds mouth up.

If they did I would sell my soul to them if they could do something about my wife.

Not going to lie. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE stuff like this. It's what brought me to ATS so many moons ago.

Whether true or not is irrelevant (obviously First Contact would be wild, hopefully they are more Vulcan and less Borg lol) at the end of the day.

Its captivating all the same. Can't wait for the naysayers and party poopers to show up.

I will say the night vision object(s) caught by the guy in the original post's video is an odd one. My logical mind says it has to be birds/geese, but slowing it down/looking for wing movement/etc, it just seems off to me. Though, if it's not birds... god I don't know wtf that thing is (near cam bugs? something like the "rods"? a freaking UFO snake?).

Wow that is really something.

Maybe the government has some sort of holographic technology to cover stuff up letting us live in blissful ignorance.

That would make sense of the things I and my roommates seen while nobody else in a busy city seen anything. I've actually come to think something like that is a very good possibility. I thought I was going to wake up to Armageddon and they were talking about clipping dogs hair on the morning news.

Woah! Gotta say I have never seen the moon do that before!
Is this the video in question? Because if so it appears to still be on YouTube.
I'm just going to go grab my telescope and take a little peek.
Be right back..

a reply to: HiMyNameIsCal I'm not sure mate, it looks pretty cool though. I would guess that there would be a large dust cloud if it's real footage, but I'm no expert in these things.

The objects in the video called "UFO Fleet" look like meteor fragments. There is going to be a meteor shower this weekend, and every day the earth is bombarded with fragments/particles that are large enough to be seen before burning up in the atmosphere. Perhaps there were some early arrivals from the Orionid shower event, which are apparently fragments of Halley's comet.

ETA: Youtube is STILL experiencing outages in many locations. This would lead me to believe that this was a technical issue and not a vast conspiracy to hide an alien invasion, darn. Here is the: YOUTUBE OUTAGE MAP

What if they are forecasting this meteor shower because they knew about the massive object headed for the moon. But were hoping we would be too busy looking at our phones.

It all makes sense!

Pretty sure the whole reason why TPTB don’t want to talk about UFOs is bc they have something to do with the Moon. And unfortunately it’s probably something really bad. Like maybe the Moon isn’t “healthy” I can’t imagine what they know is good news bc they would probably tell us then.

Anyway the Moon has been struck by objects on purpose by NASA in the past and they report that the Moon rang like a bell. Can we hear that kind of ring from here on Earth? Aren’t small peices of space rocks and debris hitting the Moon all the time?

It’d be pretty hard to hear considering the distance and the vacuum.

ETA- It also didn’t ring audibly it’s a figure of speech for it vibrating and quaking from the impact.

This video was posted in 2017. It’s been proven to be a photoshopped hoax made on Blender.
