Done. 11 Yes votes to 10 No votes. The process will move forward with more talks to continue on whether or not to have a one week FBI investigation.

Jeff Flake voted Yes with the option to change his vote when it hits the Senate floor based on continued discussions.

FBI can't investigate so it's moot. Ford can file charges with the police, she refuses to do it.

Dianne Feinstein is getting old. I'm not sure she ever really knows what's going on or what she's voting for.

It's a nice thought that even the ABA can't keep a straight face in this circus.

Kavanaugh has a letter of recommendation concerning his character that he cited in his testimony yesterday.

It came from the ABA standing committee hearing in which they said....

We concluded that his integrity, judicial temperament, and professional competence met the highest standards for appointment to the court,” .......“Our rating of unanimously well-qualified reflects the consensus of his peers who have knowledge of his professional qualifications.”

My understanding is that they get one week max to have the FBI investigate whatever they can come up with and then it comes to an end. Lindsey Graham just confirmed.

Why do we keep giving in to them? They had several chances to investigate before the hearing!

Even after Flake said he'd only confirm if the FBI did an investigation... they STILL cornered him and tried their usual intimidation tactics. Who the hell did we vote in....jeez

Just after Mr. Flake’s statement saying he would vote yes, several activists cornered him at an elevator as he was on his way to the committee meeting.

“Look at me when I’m talking to you,” one of them said. “You are telling me that my assault doesn’t matter, that what happened to me doesn’t, and that you’re going to let people who do these things into power. That’s what you’re telling me when you vote for him. Don’t look away from me.”

Mr. Flake stood largely mute, his gaze mainly to the ground, as the women held open the elevator and made their case.

My impression is Flake is basically just throwing a bone to the Democrats, trying to get them to commit to respecting the outcome of a brief FBI investigation.

But we already know what the FBI will conclude. They've said repeatedly that without a known time or place the claims are impossible to investigate. The prosecutor said she couldn't even get a warrant based on what Ford said (and didn't say), let alone bring charges. So, barring any major surprises, they're going to report that the Ford accusations are unsubstantiated, and rest of the accusations as either unsubstantiated or clearly bogus.

You have the order of events reversed ... it seems that lady yelling at him sparked his request for a delay. For what ever reason.

I just saw that trump thinks Dr Ford was a credible witness. Did I get that right? Did you guys see that?
