One thing that sucks..

There are no more multiplayer games.. only a few,

So much fun to crash in the living room with somebody and game away--- On the same screen, you know,
like in the olden days.

Playing online is not for me.

I hate bragging...
But...

I rock a top of the range gaming PC. My CPU is an Intel Q6600 running at 2.4Ghz, which is by far more than any PC needs. I compliment this with am Nvidia GeForce GT 1030 - with a fan, not one of those passive jobs. I just like to hear my beast purr. It boasts a whopping 4GB of ram, which handles everything I throw at it, no problems there. My Audio is a High Definition Audio Device, and with the left AND right speakers, it's almost as if you're right there in the action. On top of all that, I have a 64GB SSD drive for blazing lightening fast reads and writes of stuff. No stuttering as an airstrike hits.

Yep... I pwn at COD4... those 14 year old Sri Lanken kids don't even know...

Why not just play a lan session? Or do you limit things by using a console

My gaming system (1 of 3)(1 is for fun the other is for messing around on the internet)
AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1950x
Corsair Vengeance 32gb DDR 4 ram at 3ghz
Nvidia Titan X
Crucial MX200 NVME M.2
Razer Blackwidow keyboard and mouse
Rock Candy XBox One wireless controllers
Visio 55" 4k (true)
Home surround and 7(?) band mixer.

Future gaming system - waiting on the Threadripper Gen 2s and the Nvidia 1180s

Games I play ? Any and all - I have 300+

Games I would like to play ? Any that would drop my system at least 1 FPS . Know any ? I don't.

Gaming skills ? - Retired recreational Pro- Gamer. And I do mean retired.

You had to ask...

I'm a PC Gamer.

I like TPS style games, mainly single player. I still play the heck out of my Mass Effect trilogy and the Dragon Age series. My tolerance for twitch style action though is limited by the story.

I also like Civ V and Civ VI.

I also spend a lot of time with XCOM.

I am currently playing Jurassic Park: Evolution, so I am scarce around here while I manage and wrangle dinosaurs. A pack of dilophosaurs broke out and massacred a bunch of guests the other night ... I sort of sat there watching them do it. It was like watching sheep dogs work a flock and eat them.

I am waiting for Cyberpunk 2077, but my machine will need some serious work in the tower before it gets here.

But I do have HDTV, I'm not a monster.

LOL, sounds like you need an upgrade, computers upgrade too fast, I just built a Budget PC last December, amd 3GH 6 core, 12 gigs of overclocked ram, onboard video card, 1tb drive, it's doing ok with the new games but I do need to get a good video card.

That sounds like a sick system I would build, im an AMD fan, but last time I dropped a few thousand dollars on a computer I could have built it for less the $1K the next year. I do want the new AMD chip they have, they've always had better performance for the dollar over intel, intel has been winning for awhile but for the price AMD is much much better!
I gotta vizio 55" E-series, but im going to buy the Vizio 65" P-series here soon.

intel has been winning for awhile

Since day 1
Except their lawsuit to use the AMD proprietary MMX technology
And , in that same lawsuit , they failed to keep AMD from using theirs .
HADES , AMD developed that for them as a joint project.

The new Threadrippers rip a wide hole in any Intel CPU.

AMD for CPUs
Either AMD or Nvidia for the GPU. That is a personal preference.
Why spend all the money at once ?
Start with a good basic upgradeable system board.
Move the stuff over that you can
Upgrade when you can
Use replaced parts to start another system
Wait , no.
I wound up with 6 fairly decent systems that way . And only one of me.

Nah, back when I first built my PC in 2006 AMD's FX chips were dominating any intel chip, intel caught up after I think 2008 or 2010. Yeah im a Nvidia and AMD fan fa sho!

Hahahaha
I am not going to say when I built my first gaming system .
Does modding a Commodore 64 count ?

No , wait...
Does running a trace through a 286 server system board to improve bus speed count ?

Modding the hardware like upgrading it, meh, it's a start, but im sure you did learn something, yeah when I was a kid I use to play on my dads, he had a 32 bit gaming computer long before the super nes came out. it was pretty rad though, I just remember playing baseball on it.
