A declassified congressional report confirms prior reporting by The Federalist that Daniel Jones, a former staffer for Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), hired Fusion GPS and Christopher Steele after the 2016 election to push the anti-Trump Russian collusion narrative.

According to the report, Jones, who runs an investigative outfit called the Penn Quarter Group (PQG), told the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in March of 2017 that he had retained the services of Fusion GPS and Christopher Steele to “continue exposing Russian interference” in the 2016 election. Steele is the former British spy who authored the infamous unverified dossier of allegations against President Donald Trump.

Timing is everything. Obama hopes to extend FBI director's term

Reporting from Washington — President Obama will ask Congress to extend the 10-year term of FBI Director Robert S. Mueller III, who took over a sometimes plodding bureau caught flat-footed by the Sept. 11 attacks and turned it into a fast-moving counter-terrorism agency.

"In his 10 years at the FBI, Bob Mueller has set the gold standard for leading the bureau," Obama said in a statement Thursday.

"I believe continuity and stability at the FBI is critical at this time," he added.

Mueller, 66, told the president he was willing to stay for two more years.

Continuity and stability have been the president's themes of late when facing vacancies on his national security team. He is moving CIA Director Leon E. Panetta to the Defense Department to replace the retiring Robert M. Gates, and is bringing in Army Gen. David H. Petraeus to take over the CIA.

House and Senate approval are necessary for the two-year extension, and Mueller provides Obama with another well-regarded appointee with bipartisan appeal.

The answer is so glaringly obvious. Very smart move. Okay i give you all a hint. Trump's tweet about the Cohen raid and him stating "Attorney-client priviliege is dead" makes much more sense now.

It’s all controlled, all of this has been a done deal and is now in the process of playing out for us all to see the whole shebang. Remember those riots that are supposed to kick off with Mueller getting done? Are those same ones and the q post about riots in streets to help obscure the indicted ones? Or am I on wrong track here?
