Cultural appropriation is another derogatory term made to shame and belittle White people.

It's Southern heritage and tearing down the statues won't erase it.

But it might be a first step in their evolution from such corrupt and degrading ignorance (Southern Heritage)!

What is your heritage? We are proud of our people and don't care what you think.

Stats say that the South is predominately Xtian.
If you are a Xtian, it seems that you would know that Pride is a sin, the sin.
Have fun.

You mean moving them to museums so that they can be viewed in proper context?

The proper context is where the people decided to put them in the first place. Let me know when you want to start removing Grants tomb, the statue of sherman in central park, and the name of Sheridan, Wyoming. Those three war criminals are responsible for the genocide of the Plains Indians. Grant was President, sherman was General of the Army, and Sheridan was the departmental commander.

So if we found an old statue of Hitler in the US that was hidden for decades, should we leave it there just because it's part of history? Statues are supposed to honor people. Lee was a traitor more loyal to the ideology of slavery than to his country. I know he was pardoned and all, but he was still a major leader of the rebellious movement that tried to destroy our country.

Those statues were not hidden. The comparison to the nazis is a non-starter and only used by the historically ignorant. The South was right. This country, until 1865, was a VOLUNTARY union of sovereign States. The States joined it by ratifying the Constitution. They did, and STILL do, enjoy the remedy of leaving in the same manner in which they joined. Do NONE of you see the pure absurdity of forcing people to remain in a "free country" at the point of the bayonet?

FYI Hitler was a lover of Mr. Lincoln, NOT MY PRESIDENT, he says so directly in Mein Kamph.

Why should tax dollars be wasted honoring the Cult of the Lost Cause?

You mean like spending it on free food, free housing, free education all for a bumper crop called the vote ?

Not to mention the party of the donkey was created by a slave owner.

Not much has changed except rewriting, and erasing history outright because people shouldn't be reminded of a era that the states stood up to the federal state.

The civil war wasn't about freeing the black man. That's rather painfully obvious with the slaughter of the native brown man.

And to this day.

Still live on reservations, and have it worse off the 'African Americans'.

Dontcha just love that segreationism created again by statue haters.

Guess they are afraid the 'racist' might rub off.

The statues were paid for by citizens who "subscribed" that is in the language of today made monthly payments.

I had several friends go out to defend the monuments. If these people think removing the statues will change anything they are sadly mistaken. The only thing they are doing is stirring a hornets nest.

What do you think they are attempting to change that you feel they will in fact not change?

Let put it this way, in their special little world, taking down a statue is going to help somebody somewhere feel better about history. Fine I say remove the statues of MLK also.

You mean whatever context you control? Who elected these arbiters of all things?

If you put everything in museum, then it's all centrally located.

And then you can close the museum.

Yup, I'm guessing you mean that your friends are racists and removing the flags will only make them more racist??

Or at least that is what is inferred from my pov.
