Russia did deploy hardware that make them capable of taking out these targets. These assets are stationed at NK northeastern boarder.

Agreed. The best thing to do here is for the Usa to pummel N.Korea with 3 dozen (no less) MOAB's. Then we hit em with some low grade nukes. Then carpet bomb thum. Then if they still have any pluck we nukle them again.

They would do better to just hit Seoul with conventional bombs en masse , rather than an EMP......

North Korea are the ideal buffer zone. They are strong, vicious and on your side. China will not give them up. China may allow the US to attack them but it will be to draw them into a fatal war - not to allow the US to shift its South Korean Ally to China's doorstep.

Who said it would be to turn NK into a US ally? Again you dont think China is in the position to negotiate their own regime insertion into NK?

No , China would rather have a regime in line that they dont have to carry water for all the time , where they can have their own people installed, and facilitate the comings and goings of resources and people without having to deal with psychotic dictators.......

Most NK defectors go through China anyway.......

So being able to facilitate the needs of the people of that region, AND have access to their resources would be a very strong point of negotiation with China.....

We already have SK as an ally, China doesnt want the unification of SK anyway , so to maintain NK as its own nation under the control of China, Opening trade with SK and eliminating the cold war between SK and NK would be a huge boon to the region and both the US and China.......

Thus is not the 1950's.


China today want trade, especially as the Chinese economy is slowing dow.

A more friendly North Korea means more trade options for China, plus China would love more open Transport between North Korea and south Korea as south Korea has a very very robust economy ripe for Chinese opportunities. Plus not to mention post war reconstruction which will be a huge boom for China.

China have a lot more to gain from a new North Korean regime than a 1950's relic.

The long game would be to strike a deal, let the US intervene, install their gov, and open trade and world relations in a region that has been stuck in the 40s for too long......take advantage of the resources, and enrich the region and establish a well develop foothold......

Strategically thats the best long game they could hope for.......

Even if they did, their best option would be to do it from NK, and with their current level of sophistication that would make it , yes devastating , but short lived in retaliation......

Their best option, again, would be to take over the region after we usurp the leadership, install their own gov since they are allies, develop the region, grow the economy and capability, then use it as a staging ground.......

The long game, as Cav says........only he seems to have different ideas on what that should be.......

Not obtuse enough to believe that not backing us and risking an all out war destroying Seoul AND NK, and jeopardizing the region as a hostile front, means more to China, than being able to establish their foothold in the region peacefully, take over the gov, Rescute and gain its people as allies and boots on the ground, exploit its resources, make it a strategic strong point and take advantage of the economic trade available with a very very successful SK and the rest of the world...
