Sorry, there are over 300 million guns in the US there is no epidemic. 253 registered cars.

However 13000 in 2015 killed by guns and over 30000 from car accidents. Which is more dangerous?

It's funny. A certain group of people on this site have complained anytime the government spends money on something they deem unnecessary. And now that the government is cutting an ineffective program that hasn't been active for five years, thus saving money, they complain.

The problem is, you cannot vet what is in someone's heart or their intent. Plenty of terrorists that act as lone-wolf operatives don't have a searchable criminal record or any indication that they are terrorists or will become one.

And when you couple that with the fact that, at least in many Middle-Eastern countries, the nations themselves keep terrible records, there is often not even a way to vet someone because information on them doesn't even exist.

I can, on the surface, support some sort of Immigration Probation type of system, where people are checked on regularly and have limitations as to what they can do for that period of time. But that gets into a lot of issues that go counter to my libertarian ideals, so it's a tough one.

I do, however, acknowledge that it is the role of the federal government to protect its citizens, first and foremost. Accepting immigrants and refugees should not be expected nor guaranteed to the rest of the world.

As part of one of his final efforts in the White House, President Obama is shutting down one way that Donald Trump could make his Muslim registry a reality.

For the record.

The current president can not limit the power of a future president.

So then why is there such a big deal being made? For all intents and purposes this program hasn't existed for five years. So why try to claim that Obama is trying to stick it to Trump?

Unless of course there was still money going towards this program to maintain the infrastructure.

The thing is, to make it better for all people here in America, including the Muslims, we need to restrict these possible terrorists coming into our country till we can almost positively identify they are not a threat. Like I said, this country is not obligated to take a person here who has no evidence that they are safe to be here. If the person cannot supply good acceptable evidence then they should be denied. If they want to go to some other country......go.

Where in our constitution does it say that we have to allow disruptive people to come into our country.....nowhere. Where does it say we are not allowed to investigate the people wanting to come here....nowhere. I am not against Muslims coming here, just make sure they are safe, deny any that can't prove it. It is better for the Muslims living here too, they don't have to worry about their kids getting corrupted.

We should not have to worry about the middle eastern neighbors we have, lets fix this mess and try to all live together in harmony. We need these people to identify possible terrorists too, right now they are afraid to because the police can't do anything about them until they do something wrong. What is the use of contacting the police if they can't do anything.

Some bad ones who are good at deception will sneak through but now we are not doing much to stop anyone. A lot of Muslims that are already being coaxed into radicalizing are here, we should have done something about this years ago, instead Obama went the opposite way. He restricted the FBI from profiling anyone.
