Those twist tie things you get with freezer bags are the greatest invention ever

So many uses other than the original...tidying computer cables, plaiting your hair...tieing young plants to stablising pieces of wood, you name it...

All hail the freezer bag twist tie !!

The Pen or pencil

So that all other things can be recorded

I'd have to agree with this 100% percent. I posted that the writing instrument (be it a stick scribling instrctions in the sand, a feather tip dipped in ink or the modern ink pen and/or mechanical pencil) is the greatest invention of all time.

All other inventions came about by recording ideas on animal skin, stone or paper. If it were not for these recordings, we'd be still wondering what fire is.

I carry a pencil and a pen in my shirt pocket everyday, not because I want to, but my job requires me to record numbers and notes constantly. Without them, I would not be able to function efficiently.

Recording on paper the data that comes from a calculator or a computer screen is essential in my line of work.

Zipper.

It saves us a lot of time to dress up or get off clothes.

Mobiles and Computers are also greatest inventions, for they greatly enhance our daily communications and life.

I think the greatest invention ever was the anti gravity ships that our ancestors used to pose as gods. That or mankind itself.

The stirrup. For the first time, man was able to work and fight while being mobile. It changed the world, but is such a simple device.

Ok folks I don't think this is the greatest invention I know it is!!! "The Inclined Screw", without it we would not have most of the things we have today. And to not make this an anonymous reply!

For real? Hooo boy...

Okay, thinking long and hard, I'd have to say Language. Either that or Math.

I mean, that one grunt means "hello" while another grunt means "I'm starving...where's the beer..." How cool is that?!

The realization that 1+1 actually equals 2 was a pretty big leap too.

And now, how about some good runnerups? (not necessarily in order.)

1. The sharpened stick
2. The sharpened rock
3. Animal hide as a second skin
4. The bota bag!
5. cooked food
6. Agriculture
7. The recipe

I think that the idea that one could try out new ways of doing things was the greatest invention, or at least a parent of further invention/innovation.

the greatest invention of all is the most primitive to come across the universe.
Conciousnes requires life and everything derived by us comes from conciousness.
Thus the answer is LIFE by WHOEVER engineered THAT!
thats a final answer and you cannot beat it!
