Why is anyone considering open borders when a.) there are plenty of people in the world who would like nothing more than to come here and enslave or kill us, and b.) the world is an unequal place, and unfettered immigration would knock every developed country down to the lowest common denominator?

Seriously.

Sure I am so big that EXISTING laws should be enforced, instead of getting IGNORED.

I am so 'terrible'!!!!

Yeah, you are, since these restrictions are all ethnic-based. A simple and open immigration policy is the best one for the country. It helps to eliminate bureaucracy that the taxpayer foots the bill for and adds new demand to the market which grows the tax base as a whole.

The greater expense by far to this is not the bureaucracy. Besides one type of bureaucracy is indeed greatly expanded by this. And the ethnic based thing is only a caveat when put up along side rubber to the road real issues that this thing creates.

Billions in tax dollars that should have been paid into our national treasury were instead not collected but allowed to slip out of country to Mexico and elsewhere in the name of some dam thing. And liberal whine about nation building.

In California, illegals can get grants for higher education; US citizens are not eligible.

That is California taxpayer's money, not Federal taxpayer's money. If that is what the state of California wants to do that is their issue. State's Rights, eh?

And if people came here legally that tax is collected and placed in the Treasury.

It's not like they can't get in line an ask for permission.

Many of the people that want to wait on line cannot because the line is too long or the quotas are all full. There should be a quick and easy application process that has no quotas or qualifiers other than you being a non-criminal.

And ?

The first thing I would do would be to use foreign policy to make countries better so people wouldn't want to leave.

Do you mean like not create things like NAFTA and the TPP ?

Which succinctly proves my point. If it is easier to come here legally you do not need to bother with this type of redundant and wasteful behavior. We can focus on economic growth.

No need. Everyone on this site is well clued in to your predilections.

And clearly we all know those who have no concept of what SOVEREIGNTY means.,

Actually what it proved for over 30 years they have tried to 'fix' it.

The reality shows THEY Don't WANT IT FIXED.

That isn't 'hyperbole'.

That is ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION.

Which is why immigration needs to be easier, not harder.

I know new things frighten you, just try to get a grip on your panic pants and realize that not everyone is coming here to take your stuff. They want to come here for the same reason all of our ancestors did, for a better way of life.

An irresponsible open immigration policy is not going to do anything but destroy the better way of life that generations of americans have built. Coming over here and getting on the dole is not representative of contributing to that better way of life. Coming here to work and send it home is not contributing to the better way that allowed for it.

It would appear that you are one of them since legal immigration does not change the power of the state to govern itself.

Did you mean to say national identity? Regardless, the country will move forward in spite of the knuckle dragging sentiments of a few.

Which again proves my point that it is need of 'fixing'. It is not even remotely workable.

You cannot come over here and 'get on the dole'. You need to become a citizen to be legally able to obtain Federal aid and that takes 5 years.

But we are not talking about any sort of responsible and logical immigration policy that seeks to preserve the goose that lays those golden eggs. We are talking about a policy that kills that goose.

What was MEANT.

A group of people that think so little of the LAWS of this country are people this country does not need nor want.

SOVEREIGNTY.

Immigration LAWS are the supreme LAWS of this country.

WE don't get to pick and choose.

Neither should they.

It's workable.

The LAW isn't broke. It just keeps getting ignored.

When a person is working here paying no tax and sending it home and some american company is not paying tax on that labor.......they are both on the dole.

If everyone needs to follow the citizenship protocol then we have a logical and responsible policy. We have created a system that by default results in it being easier to come here illegally and circumvent contributing to the tax base.
