I understand bigger counties that are fragmented but yeah why aren't cities declared much earlier.
The weather here was perfect all day and we're only a city of 250,000 or so.

What was the vote in the City of London, one section I believe. Skynews live was on the man going over the announcement details before the actual voting account and then they left to interview someone in another voting area? They said they would be right back with the announcement. That was 10 or 15 minutes ago. Any word?

Some of the counties pride themselves on being first, Sunderland is usually always one of the first to be announced as they're really good at doing the counting

2. how many Americans do you think are going to wake up tomorrow and realise that the world has just monumentally changed (if we vote out) and have no idea that it was even on the table then pretend to have a in depth understanding of EU politics??

According to sky. Remain is gonna win it.

news.sky.com...

Remain look like big favorites , but the Sunderland result has panicked the markets.

Currently
Leave 161,744 votes
Remain 158,537 votes

just 5 local results from 382 have been declared so far.

As an American, I have no dog in this fight, and I'm very ignorant as hell when it comes to the EU, and whether or not the UK stays in it or not.

But for some reason.....and it's got to be overly dramatic......thinking of the UK staying with the EU makes me think of the words "Death Of A Nation"

When I think of the UK, I think of Union Jacks, Doctor Who, Big Ben, Tea, Fish n Chips, Winston Churchill, The Beetles, Elton John, David Tenant (wait...he's a Scott...sorry, hehehehe), and a people who went through a horrible bombing blitz, but by god, your chins were stuck out in utter defiance of Nazi Germany, giving them the finger but good!

But for some reason, the UK staying with the EU makes me thing that all that will turn to dust.....

Completely unreasonable of me to think that, I know, and of course, ignorant American over here....

Just can't get it out of my head though. An empire in which the sun never set on, done in by a vote?

Silly, I know.

Same mine is even smaller, how can a area with over 100,000 votes get there announcement in within a couple of hours yet others areas of similar size and similar population not get the numbers in just as quick

BBC are saying Leave are looking favourites, it's funny how the different channels see the results going.

The UK was once a empire before the union.

They can manage just fine on their own.

Globalism isn't what's it's all cracked up to be.

Instead of one going down. They all do as we saw in the European crisis.

Some counting centres may just be better organised than others. These are ad hoc, I believe, so they may not be running as smoothly as the constituencies which do the job at General Elections.

curious???

How aware do you think Americans are of this vote and its global impacts?

How aware do you think Americans are of the EU and the UKs role in the EU?

Just seems to me that on ATS these days its been dominated with TRUMP and GUNs when really there is something arguably even bigger going on on the other side of the ponds that seems to have been largely ignored.

It takes time to doctor votes when not using diebold voting machines.

I think you have your finger pretty much on the pulse with those thoughts.
I'll certainly feel like my nation is dead if remain win this fight.

Looks like it's Northern Ireland and Scotland driving the current Remain lead.
7 results in and Remain lead by 20k votes.

I think we are doomed either way.

Vote leave just to speed it up a little bit

It would suit the USA very well to have a weak UK of course. We would be much easier to push around if we had no other obligations apart from those we have with our American brothers, am I right?
