Im in the UK... having experienced people from more nations than I ever even knew existed, I feel that men from other parts of the world, where creature comforts are fewer and realities are a lot harsher, the men do seem a lot more ready to face the challenges of everyday life than natives who have lived here for countless generations. I think the reason for that is because they have less materialistic values. Children in the west now becoming adults have been made too comfortable and are a clueless compared to the foreign men of a similar age. This is all at a time when competing for housing, jobs etc (security & creature comforts) is a lot harder. The result is you see depression rates and suicide rates skyrocketing, because people were raised with the expectation that they could have everything they wanted, and when they came of age, getting what they wanted was a lot harder than they expected. Immigrants on the other hand, were raised to expect that struggle.

Oh and having first the printing press, then radio, then television, then computer games, now the internet.. has made it a lot easier for us to distract ourselves from reality.
