I think the place to be really scared of would be Australia.
Even the cute platypus has venomous claws.
Octopus, jellyfish, snakes that kill.... croc-O-diles, good gravy, it wouldn't surprise me to find out that they have killer butterflies down there!

Yeah, just going outside is like gambling with your life down here. Ya never know when an angry little platypus is just waiting around the next corner, ready to strike.

What about the butterflies?
I forgot to mention the spiders!

It is true, it is a real pain in the ass crossing the border these days from Van.

Depending on what guards on duty can determine the outcome of the entire day

Most people I know here do not even bother going down anymore, and that started few years ago, well before our dollar dropped.

Another problem is crossing the border coming BACK can be even worse with these freak Canadian guards that believe nothing we say.

I live just 20 minutes drive from the border, and I have some places I want to go to, but they keep getting delayed when I think of how tiring the experience often is, and that goes for I would imagine a HUGE percentage of the people here.

Gone are the days of easy friendly travel that we would make at least once a month, or even more often to visit our neighbors.

Interestingly, the lineups are gone now so it would be super timely to coast across anytime................

What a brilliant tactic. So I could, theoretically, be getting panhandled by an entrepreneuring individual who is not homeless that appears homeless just because he needs his Starbuck's fix?

My favorite homeless guy outside Tim Hortons just turned 59 and has been dying his hair blond, is no longer homeless, and has somehow been getting clothes.

A lot of his brethren are indeed looking fashion forward lately, someone has been donating a lot of nice stuff to these guys and the area looks way better for us all!

Indeed I am one of the donators, it is unreal what a difference it is making to everyone's attitude when people look better.

You sound like my mother.

"You're going to Mexico? Aren't you scared?" No. Mexico is an outstanding vacation spot and I love visiting.

"You're going to Jamaica? Aren't you scared?" No. Jamaica was awesome and I would love to return.

"You're going to Chicago? Be careful?" Why? Great city.

I could go on. Point is, you can be scared and miss out on life, or you can take it all in. I made my choice and the world is a wonderful place, all things considered.

Why can't you move to Canada if you want to be there?

Is Canada not accepting American immigrants?

No, they built a wall to keep all the non-syrup chuggers out.

Nothing like some early morning condemnation of an entire country, the overwhelming majority of whom you've never laid eyes on let alone spoken too.

I can't even begin to understand what a life lived in such a state of perpetual terror and mewling must be like. So sorry for you

Here, here!

Op, turn off the tele, close the fear porn, and consider this- contempt prior to investigation.

I don't know about you, but which place are you most likely to have your face ripped off your face by a grizzly?

A little Nick Cage Faceoff without the novacaine.

First pic: No people... all killed by that savage bison.
Second pic: People waiting in line for the gas chambers.
Third pic: No people... all killed by falling off of violent tall rocks.
Fourth pic: Yep, you got it.... they all drowned.

Thanks for another view of savage America.

You left out that moments after those pictures were taken the police showed up and used lethal force on all the landscapes.

Obviously a cop beating a teenager when the poor kid had a taillight out. Cops hid behind the bison.

A large group of cops getting ready to beat a small number of teenagers.

Famous landmark where some cops beat some people.

This is where cops hide the bodies of the people they beat.

Yeah, I needed a ditch dug once and I called the cops and told them that there was kid with a squirt gun hiding under a rock in my backyard. I told them to come in force.
Those two had a ditch shot in no time at all.

Do you think if we called the SWAT team and told them the Original Poster had a 1/4 gram of the Maryjane on him that they would cross the border and give him some American justice?

With all due respect, I believe it was Canada that imposed the stricter border patrols. As I recall it was after a terrorist plot was stopped in Atlanta several years ago.

The world is full of darkness, the world is full of light. Where do you want to spend your time? If we humans hide behind our monitors focusing on the darkness and judging others, what good can come? How can we feel good and have any positive experience if we are just focused on all the treachery the world has to offer?

The Op here just put down and entire nation based upon absolutely no real experience.

There is so much beauty in the USA. There are so many beautiful people in the USA. The visual arts and music and movies, amazing.

Good people are still here!

I hear that America is full of people wanting to be trophy husbands ...

I am willing to take the risk and pick mine up ...

Should I bring some protection ? From what I read it's only 97% effective

(Desclaimer: The views and opinions expressed in this reply do not necessarily represent those of the author.. but seriously I need to get there ASAP the savage bison is going to make jerky out of my trophy man)

Nope. Just bacon and that full-strength beer you have up there. I will handle the rest.
