The US already spends less per capita than every other developed nation, and were doing so with a ridiculously large defense budget. The amount spent on citizens in the US is comparable to Mexico.

Maybe the rest of the world should pay the USA "tribute" for being the world police and protector? We could supplement our income that way instead of increasing taxes...?

We pay other countries for the right to defend them. That one of the reasons why our defense budget is so large.

I'll post some sources later, can't seem to find the link on wikipedia anymore so I have to actually recompute the numbers myself. I'll do it later tonight.

We could try and act like armed thugs asking for protection money but what the rest of the world is going to do is respond by trade embargoing us. Superpowers are made and lost these days by economic ties and refusing to trade with us would end our super power status overnight. It would also cost our economy trillions, which is way more than we're talking about with a tax increase.

Unfortunately we live in an era in which the art of propaganda has become subtle and omnipresent. No longer do we see the crude and ineffective posters exhorting workers to put forth extra work for the nation, as in the infamous propaganda campaigns of the Soviet Union. The Americans were always better propagandists, after all. And we have had decades to hone this art further with the collapse of all real opposition to global capitalism. When propaganda is unnoticeable, does it go unnoticed?

Or does it become such a feature of existence that it embeds itself into your unquestionable assumptions about life?

Before you castigate Bernie about illegal immigration policies, or rant about socialism, think. What do I actually hate? Is it the immigrants, or the bosses who lay me off in favor of cheaper labor? Do I hate the workers in the sweat shops who kill themselves for scraps of bread, or do I hate the suited psychopaths who judge that a fair trade for cheaper jeans? Do I actually know anything about socialism beyond what those self-same bosses told me?

WHY do I let the very class who benefit from my ignorance inform me? WHY do I listen when the slave-masters tell me socialism means slavery?

Who benefits here? Who loses?

Sanders is going to show Trump supporters why they'd be better off with him in office, having seen the anylisis of Trumps tax plan I would say Sanders is right! Out of our three leading politicians, two are running for president because the feel they deserve it, the third candidate is Bernie Sanders, who is running because he knows Hilary nor the republicans are in support of American people, the working class.

In a ‘Face the Nation’ interview

Senator Bernie Sanders is going after Donald Trump’s fan base.

When the Democratic presidential candidate appeared on CBS’s “Face the Nation” Sunday, he suggested that Trump’s supporters would be better off voting for him.

Sanders reiterated a point similar to one Obama stated last week when he accused the GOP frontrunner of exploiting working-class fears. As Sanders told “Face the Nation” host John Dickerson, “Many of Trump’s supporters are working-class people and they’re angry.” They work long hours and earn much less than their wealthy counterparts, he said, and many of their jobs are being shipped overseas to cheaper manufacturing countries.

We need policies that bring us together,” Sanders told Dickerson. Policies “that take on the greed of Wall Street, the greed of corporate America, and create a middle class that works for all of us rather than an economy that works just for a few.”

Now for a little more details on the Trumpsters tax plan:

Analysis of Donald Trump Tax Plan Sees a Boon for Wealthy and Trillions in Debt

Donald J. Trump’s tax plan would benefit the wealthiest Americans the most while saddling the economy with trillions of dollars in new debt, according to an analysis released on Tuesday by the Tax Policy Center.

The proposal would cut the top tax rate to 25 percent from 39.6 percent, and bring down the corporate tax rate to 15 percent from 35 percent. It would also end federal income taxes on individuals making less than $25,000 and married couples who file their taxes jointly earning less than $50,000.

Despite the populist tone of his campaign, Mr. Trump’s plan appears to open new loopholes that would allow the well-off to shave their tax bills and could debilitate the economy as lawmakers look for requisite spending cuts. According to analysts at the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center, the cuts would mean nearly $25 trillion in lost government revenue over the next 20 years, and swell the ratio of debt to gross domestic product from about 74 percent to 180 percent.

sour ce

But then we all know the rich need more free sh]i[t,

because they always go to bed hungry,

hungry for more money that is!

Answer this first: Who owns this "Tax Policy Center" ????

Their website says this: Independent analyses of current and emerging tax policy issues from the Urban Institute and Brookings Institution.

They are a Washington DC ThinkTank. In other words they do not work for free, somebody funded this research.

Something a good mentor taught me many years ago; Step-1 The answer to any question you have in life is "where is the money coming from?"

Furthermore, please explain to me how taking on "the greed of Wall Street, the greed of corporate America" is going to accomplish anything??

Do you really think GREED can be legislated? Can LOVE be legislated? Or ANGER???

Greed is human nature, which is why capitalism (with fair regulation) is the greatest system in the world!! At it's most basic level it operates in a way we understand naturally: (everyone wants to screw you!) Capitalism does not try to pitch you a bunch of Kumbaya hippie bullshi+, it operates on the simple doctrine of acquiring something for as CHEAP as possible, and selling it for as much PROFIT as possible!!!

Simple. We all want to do it. We all WILL do it given the chance! BECAUSE IT'S HUMAN NATURE.

So now that we're all clear about the nature of mankind and on the same page here, how can we genuinely HELP Average Americans?

By lowering corporate TAXES. But oh noes!!! The EVIL corporations!!! WRONG. Corporations will go wherever is favorable to them. So by lowering corporate taxes, Trump will create AMERICAN JOBS!!!

The whole reason the USA is so f*cked right now is because of jerkoffs like Mitt Romney buying company after company and offshoring every possible job he could in order to make them more profitable and then turn around and sell the companies he bought at bargain prices for BILLIONS in profits. Oh and he also tanked numerous companies by liquidating pension funds in order to fund new developments or equipment and make the company look good, sell for a tidy profit, and then boom a few months later the company fails and all the long-time employees are left with no pension.... Seriously, read about it!

So I'm not really a GOP supporter (or a Trump fan) and in fact I change party's frequently based on who and what is happening.

Encouraging corporations to operate WITHIN the USA, is the way to fix our problems. And further, imposing higher taxes on imported items as well as an added tax specifically on goods produced by American companies overseas.

By the way, I have an American company. I compete with an inferior product made in Eastern Europe where it is sold with zero import tax throughout the EU, while my product is taxed up to 50% upon import due to being made outside the EU.... Their crappy product also faces zero import taxes to the USA so they can undercut me in my own country. If we had fair protectionist policies then their product would cost more or equal to mine in the USA, and my sales would probably triple since for the same money most Americans would rather buy American and get their customer handled here.

2015 was a tough year, but I just recently hired my first full-time employees. Those kids jobs rely on American businesses being able to COMPETE in the world, not on more bullsht freebies. The entire world economy is based on BUILDING THINGS, not on welfare.

If you all fall for Bernies Marxist bullshi+ I really can't explain how foolish you are other than to say; read about the murder, treachery, corruption, power struggles and ultimate downfalls of EVERY Marxist government. Capitalism may not pretend to be your best frend, but Marxism does a great job of hiding its evil.

It's common sense, if you cut taxes on the people paying the most, they're going to have to raise taxes on those in the middle. Tax rates on the poor are irrelevant because they don't have any wealth. Those in the middle have just enough though that reasonable amounts of revenue can be raised. If you drop the rates on the wealthy to 25%, then pretty much everyone from the 30th percentile and up is going to be paying 25%. Additionally, federal programs will be offloaded to the states to make up the difference, and the states will follow suit.

Trumps plan will increase the taxes of the middle 60% of Americans all while giving discounts to the rest.
Unfortunately for Bernie, he will not get any Trump supporters...Trump supporter know what Trump stands for...His tax plan is contingent upon jobs coming back to America from China, Mexico, Indonesia, India, etc., which will dramatically increase the tax base in America...As a result there will be no tax increases for the working middle class...[/p][p]

Bernie was forced over the weekend however to admit his tax plan increases taxes on all Americans to pay for his socialist programs...AND Bernie has no plan to bring jobs back to America...We've seen how Bernie's plan functions in other Communist Countries...So no thanks Bernie...We'll stick with Trump...

Oh get over yourself. The Marxists always try to rebrand themselves and then when push comes to shove they admit their love of Marx, and cry out "but it's just no one ever implemented his ideas properly!!!" Boo hoo hoo.

Despite his perhaps good intentions, Bernie is just another Marxist fool trying to woo people with promises of free college and more bullshi.. More than 1/2 the workforce in this country are over-educated already and would have saved timeand money through apprenticeship programs rather than pouring $$$$ into the higher education cartels/banks.

And really how many PhD's in women's studies, social sciences, afro-american studies or underwater basket-weaving does the world actually need????

How about incentivizing American kids to learn an actual trade, where you earn more than some over-educated triple-PhD hipster dipsh!t selling iPads at the Applestore.....

Good, people need to hear it. used to work @ Wal-Mart, and have worked alongside two people who had Masters degrees in something. They would love to brag about it or bring it up when complaining like "oh, I dont need this crap I got a Masters in so-so and whatever"

It was always fun to shut them up by saying "and here you are making the same money as me, who was kicked out of high school and got their GED. In fact I make more because I have worked here longer, plus I am not heavily indebted with 5 figures."
Oh they would just walk off fuming at that. # that, I just ended up opening my own store, and took many of that Wal-marts electronics customers as I am only like ten blocks away and import direct from China myself. Oh the irony, me stealing Wal-Marts customers
