I guarantee that a lot of the people you consider to be winners are regular users of cannabis. Don't be so naive.

And there are many many stone cold sober losers out there too.

It probably made his already suicidal tendencies that much easier to follow through with. The mind and one's control over it no matter what substance they're on plays a roll. Seems like a weak mind to me.

The issue presents somewhat of a paradox for me. On the one hand I agree that when my kids were younger I would have in no way wanted them using Cannabis. And even now that they are adults I have no inclination to want them to use it either. On the other hand the FACT that it is an assumably God given plant given at creation ( Perfectly fits description in Gen 1:29 KJV ) and the fact that it is convincingly the most useful plant on the earth in many practical ways in addition to it's psychoactive properties.

Those factors alone convince me that NO ONE has the right to restrict the free use of it by society. The fact that it is a naturally occurring plant means that the right to have access to it transcends ALL religious, philosophical and cultural boundaries. Unfortunately right now ( as irony would have it ) the psychoactive use of it is more freely available then the industrial use of it. Shows you what the system fears the most...doesn't it ???

There isn't a professional sport that wants a pot head on their team,

So laws should be based on what professional sport teams want?

I have never done MJ but I know many fellow biologists and chemists who have.

But is success only measured in spots in your brain?

Can you understand what an example is?
When people pay money for excellence, pot heads are not included.

so?

Not everyone is a winner.

Exactly, pot heads are not winners. That is why people who pay for services don't hire known losers.
That is why parents do not wish their kids to become pot heads, it is the opposite of well wishing.

I think you'll find that me and my two mates worked an accumulated 21 years high off our box as the most productive workers our respective NHS departments could muster up...

Well loved around the hospital...
Among male and female, young and old, bosses and co workers...

Did I mention high off our box...

Smoking blunts during lunch break and coming back as part of the fully fledged work force...

Helping others to finish their work...

Pot heads aren't losers...

People who generalise people are losers...
Except those that generalise people who generalise!!!

So you couldn't handle working your job unless you were high each day?
You think that is something to brag about?
That shows the strength of the addiction.
This also is an example of impaired judgment, risking recreation on your job that could get you fired. This begs the question what other impaired judgments your crew are guilty of. Wouldn't want to know this information if I were ever a patient where you worked.

Sorry, but marijuana is not chemically addicting. You need to educate yourself.

Sucking on a straw or rolling two balls in your hand can be addicting, you need to educate yourself.

The problem with discussions like these is most people are not fence sitters. Most opinions are either one side or the other and often result and end up in character assassination of peoples opinions.

Heated yes. Necessary no.

It is hard to objectively discuss when the conversation drops to that level.

ODing on Edibles consists of passing out for several hours and waking up feeling very rested. I've never seen anybody get paranoid off of eating it. Smoking certain sativa varieties sure. But eating it no. And never to the point of killing ones self. Tis dude killed himself and the Weed had nothing to do with it.

There is a huge difference between a habit and an addiction. Educate yourself.

If you have a bad habit of sucking on straws and playing with balls, you just may be.... oh nevermind.

Extremely, extremely rare then. This would be unprecedented.

THC nor the paranoia it can sometimes induce are to the degree where you decide to pick up a gun, load it, aim it at your head. Think about it. Then pull the trigger.

To me this sounds like grieving parents trying to find something to blame their child's suicide on and not accept the fact their child was probably severely depressed and that they may have missed the signs.

So you like to make assumptions...

When did "wanting to smoke" start becoming conflated with "needs it because they're addicted"...

Get real...

I quit when I wanted to...

Took me all of a few hours...
My friends too...

Your snap judgements are ludicrous conjecture and full of aggression for what you fear...

Anywho...

Never had a work complaint in any circumstance... Before or after quitting...
Not from a boss, nor a patient!!!

Left on my own terms to care for my disabled mother...
My friends moved on to new horizons...

All after quitting smoking...

What are you going to presume now, Tinfoil!!!

Maybe that TP is needed deeper in an orifice to stop you talking out of it.

Agreed!

The strength of addiction to Marijuana?

Really?

I feel for this family. I truly do but, I really don't believe that he killed himself because of the edibles.
I believe there were some underlying factors at play.

If someone already has a mental illness...

Absolutely!

Without, mmmm, most studies are dubious as to a linkage...

Because they rarely study people who weren't already undiagnosed!

AND THERE WE HAVE IT LADIES & GENTLEMEN!

Drugs don't kill people, maryjuana kills people via mind control!!

(but on the real, too much of everything can kill you, especially in certain situations so while I personally don't think it is possible to OD on MJ directly it can and has been a factor in so many deaths throughout the years)

*EDIT - Since I was merely responding to the title , now I want to respond to the actual article.

This type of stuff bugs me out...
"He was the happiest guy in the world. He had everything going for him."
A lot of the times the people that are the happiest on the outside are the ones who are battling the worst fights inside. Maybe the fact that people really thought this guy had no excuse to feel bad made him feel worse?
To say he had some MJ and got suicidal is just looking in the other direction trying to scapegoat that drug...it's wrong. Let's rather look at the problem here instead of ignoring it...

So this might be in a bit of a contrast to what I said FIRST, but I don't think MJ can really make you depressed overnight, you already are..(or if you do it for a long enough time, that can have some baaaddd long lasting effect on the mind)

RIP though..always sad when people take their own life.
