Oh right, I keep forgetting that all the world's problems are our fault and we're only out to rule the world or destroy it. Everyone else just wants to sit around singing khumbaya.

The links you provided are about airlifts, meds and supplies provided after a natural disaster.

That kind of aid is way different. You should read what is described in the Congressional approval. The document includes a very detailed description of special operations and weapons to be used. Scroll down on the document and you'll see how they list assault rifles, machine guns, rocket launchers....., take a look.

The Peruvian congress talks about a total of 18 visits this year. Can't be 18 natural disasters in one country in one year.

I wouldn't want to be locked in a metal tube with one person, let alone an entire crew of people.

They would pull stupid pranks on each other. My ex has a burn scar on his arm from a cookie sheet just taken out of a 500 degree oven. The guy said, "I bet you wouldn't put your arm on this and hold it there." So my stupid idiot ex did just that. Then went to med and claimed there was an "accident" in the kitchen and he "slipped" and his arm came in contact with the pan. *eye roll*

Another prank, a guy claimed if he "whipped it out", my ex wouldn't let him put it in his hands. (Yes, THIS is what our military does when they are bored.) My ex agreed, he "whipped it out", put it in my ex's hands, and my ex's words not mine, he ran like a scared n*****r. Needless to say he got in trouble for the word, not the prank. *nose pinch*

Now mind you, this is the MILD crap I'm describing, do you honestly think having females is going to make them "tone it down"? Not a chance if you ask me. If they can't behave amongst themselves, there's no way in heck they're going to behave with females. But that's just my opinion.

Edit to add, my ex is a racist bastard, so I'm glad to be away from him so my daughter doesn't learn the "lovely" words he was trying to teach her.

Something most of members here don't know and must be considered :

The Peruvian president Ollanta Humala was against the presence of US troops in Peru before he was elected.

Yep, as I said. At least that is what he said. Of course the reality of the world leaves no other option for protection. The 3 major powers of South America, Columbia. Brazil and Chile are moving closer and closer to the US. With Cuba and the US mending ties the entire Carribean will US allies. Only Nicaragua is not allied to the US and even it wants friendly ties. The only opposition is Venezula a now failing state and dirt poor nations like Bolivia. Europe, Africa, India and most of the middle east and Asia are also in the US camp. Russia is weak, poor and isolated. China has money but, has no interest in the world beyond Asia expect for trade.

So what is this guy going to do? You push away the US and hope nobody messes with you and ruin future trade deals. The only people not in the US camp either are not interested or to weak to help themselves. And one of the main complaints Latin America has with the US was the santions on Cuba. With Cuba and the US coming together it takes the wind out of a lot of sails.

As much as we are working with Cuba, Cuba is backing Venezuela right now.

In page 3 of the Venezuela Thread, I posted an article about Cuba's Support.

… we're only out to rule the world …

Yes.

Prove it, scuttle all the carriers, close the bases, bring the troops home.

Its not our world to occupy exclusively.

I agree, let's destroy all weapons, because if the US did all conflict all over the world would cease.

We have declared them

U.S. President Barack Obama signed an executive order last week saying the Latin American nation poses an “extraordinary threat to the national security” of the United States.

www.pbs.org...

In a televised address over the weekend, Maduro claimed that Biden sought to foment the overthrow of his socialist government during a Caribbean energy summit Biden hosted last month in Washington. According to Maduro, Biden told Caribbean heads of state that the Venezuelan government’s days were numbered and it was time they abandon their support.

I guess if this is true then I would be worried about it as well.

I'd say more to do with drug war than terrorism. At least it's a more plausible excuse.

This is the first step in sanctions not war. Do you think Obama will go to war in Venezuela? The country will fall apart all on its own. Dictators in South America rarely succeed long term. It appears the Socialist experiment is failing as the price of oil stays low.

It's called preparation. If you put the provision in place BEFORE a visit, it's already there and you don't lose time if something does happen.
