Or...what's even more ridiculous, people just out of surgery jeopardizing their recovery by lighting up a ciggy. Just a thought. LoL!

What is ridiculous is seeing people just out of surgery forced so many feet away from the hospital in the rain or snow.

Thanks that made me chuckle.

However, I agree they should allow for CLOSED ventilated rooms for those who want to smoke. However, I don't think its the bans that is preventing that , I think its the business owners decision to not create the rooms. Possibly because not even smokers would want to eat in a smoke filled room.

Please explain then the tactic of complete smoking bans and providing no spaces for smokers to socialize in comfort, by themselves with no non-smokers around!

This isn't about health or infringing on other people. This is about demonizing a significant portion of the population, harassment, bullying and control freakery.

Its not smokers who are selfish and self-centered. For 40 years, every time smokers have been asked to refrain from smoking an any area, we have voluntarily done so - with no enforcement necessary.

It is non-smokers who wish to eradicate smokers and who are self-centered without a single care for the health and safety of smokers. Why else would elderly smokers in Ontario have froze to death trying to have a cigarette outside without bothering anyone! Did you cheer when they died!

You keep bringing up your children (Please, won't someone think of the children!)

So if you are such a good parent, why do you insist on bringing them with you to eat in an area where you know smoking is allowed?

Here in Canada, we had that room in the hospitals and the government passed these kind of laws years ago, and forced them outside.

Then just recently they went one step further and forbid smoking near the doors where they had protection from rain and snow, and moved them out towards the road.

This is government policy.

And any pubic buildings like restaurants and bars were not allowed to use technology.

Its just pure nastiness, evil that operates to take away freedom and punish people though solutions exist that benefit both sides.

If tobacco is your thing, why not chew it? Problem solved right? You can dip indoors. Please answer.

As a smoker, I got outside, as soon as I can go the washroom. PERIOD. Would die at home and never go to the hospital rather than go through hell on top of recovery. And I've quit several times, but the dopamine drops permanently and I will never do it again. My family needs me in a good mood.

You are mistaken. Smoking bans specifically forbid a business owner from providing ventilated rooms for smoking.

Why are you surprised. According to anti-smokers, smoking must only take place at least 90 feet from any building to prevent a molecule of smoke from rising up and entering the building, thus killing at least 3 people and causing 15 heart attacks. The 90 foot rule also prevents any smoke from entering the building when smokers exhale after having a cigarette.

And why don't you eat your food by injecting it directly into your veins intravenously?

Like eating, Smoking is a pleasure, and not every smoker is desparate to quit

I also have the right to ask you not to drive your car because the harmful poisonous exhaust can kill me and my children. I would love to take my kids outside for dinner without your car exhaust fumes poisoning me and my family. Your car is encroaching my personal area.

I can tell you first hand that the smoke eaters do not work well in most bars or restaurants. It really has to do with how high the ceilings are. The ceiling need to be like 15 feet high. One place they do work well indoors is in large casinos. Not sure if you notice how high the ceilings are in casinos but pretty sure they are designed that way for indoor smoking.

It appears that your smoking has impaired your ability to apply logic and comprehension.

1. Yes, THE CHILDREN. The horror to think about kids!!! What a disgusting thing todo.
2. Like I said before I try to avoid areas that allow smoking, but do to selfish individuals as yourself its not always possible.

Asking a smoker why he doesn't quit is an anti-smoker tactic. No matter what you say, they will argue that there is a technique to address that issue and the debate then becomes a personal "why don't you quit" thing.

Non-smokers eat for pleasure, they take drugs for pleasure. In general the market for providing pleasure to human beings is about 6 billion per year.

It is human nature to seek pleasure in this life. I enjoy smoking. I choose to smoke. Nobody has the right to ask why I don't deny myself this pleasure any more than I have the right to ask someone else to give up their pleasures.

Smokers got into the habit of muttering "I am going to quit soon" as a way of stopping someone from giving them a lecture in a social setting (very rude on part of the ant-smoker to even think of putting person on the spot that way).
Smokers just have just answered properly with "since when is it socially acceptable for friends and even strangers to want to discuss my personal life" followed up with "can we talk about your body now - when are you going to lose that extra wieght, why do you wear toxic perfume and make-up, why do you drink and eat cookies"

OH no - you don't get away with THAT statement.

With the smoking bans - there is no possible reason you have to expose your children to second-hand smoke. YOU are bringing them to areas where smoking is allowed so that YOU can bully someone!

Not very good parenting, is it - teaching your kids to bully total strangers?

I mean, I can't even walk outside at all without having one of you "drivers" spewing your filthy exhaust into the air and poisoning me. Where are my rights? We should ban people from driving anywhere but designated areas that will not affect the rights of others to breathe without breathing in your poisons, think of the children! How many kids have to breathe in the poisonous exhaust that your car spews into the air, and why would you be so inconsiderate as to drive around poisoning everyone with said carcinogens? Seriously, like I said before, there are a heluva lot more cars than smokers.

Any time you walk out your front door and there are cars, trucks, tractors, etc... around, you are breathing in air that is tainted with their poisonous exhaust. Smokers should be the least of your concerns.

Their is no such ban at least that I'm aware of. Private individuals are allowed to open an establishment and allow smoking as long at it meets a certain percentage of alcohol to food ratio.

This isn't about health or infringing on other people. This is about demonizing a significant portion of the population, harassment, bullying and control freakery.

You are wrong its exactly about infringing on other people . You just want to make it something else because it impacts you directly.

Its not smokers who are selfish and self-centered. For 40 years, every time smokers have been asked to refrain from smoking an any area, we have voluntarily done so - with no enforcement necessary.

Your logic needs calibration again. Just a few post above you told me I had no right to request such horrendous thing.

Here is what you said:

You may chose wherever you like. You may not, however, tell others that they cannot smoke on private property where the owner has given permission to smoke. It is not your property. I suggest you go to eat where smoking is prohibited by the owner.

It is non-smokers who wish to eradicate smokers and who are self-centered without a single care for the health and safety of smokers. Why

You are wrong again. Me not smoking does not physically impact you in anyway.

Cool, come over for dinner. I will take your silly argument and raise you:

I will set the table in the garage turn on the car and close the door, it will be fantastic dinner experience.

Hey smoke doesn't physically bother people, right.

You saying a thing doesn't make it true - READ the laws on smoking bans. Bars and restaurants are banned from providing separately ventilated room. Read the Ontario Clean Air Act that applies to 13 million people

The rest of what you say is merely your opinion. I am not going to change your mind - ever! You are a bully and a control freak and I can't change you in any way.

But others are reading this - they will see a different point of view

I'm asking you a legitimate question. You have to know that smoking offends some people. So why not use some other type of tobacco in public?

Smoking does not offend me. I've spent half my life in smoked filled bars. Just a few months ago I was in New Orleans at a bar conference and someone started smoking at the table while I was eating and they apologized. I was like, doesn't really bother me, go ahead and smoke. It bothers me when I've been around it for a couple of hours and it makes my throat hurt, then the next day I have a nasty cough.

Do you drive a car? If you drive at all then you are just as bad as anyone smoking. Driving around anywhere spewing your poisonous exhaust. See how that works? You poison not only yourself, but your children and other people's children by just merely the act of getting in a car and starting the engine. Where do you think the exhaust goes? It doesn't just disappear into nothing, no, it gets mixed into the air that everyone breathes.
