I do not think he enjoyed himself much. I think the part which rankled with him the most, was coming across an ACTUAL socialist, as opposed to the fakers he has thrown his lot in with. My main problem with the way politics in our country, and indeed the world today works, is that socialism has been allowed to become a dirty word, because of all the people who CLAIMED to espouse its virtues, while behaving like a bunch of right wing nutcases, Stalin, Hitler, et al.

In my opinion, until we have a system which allows the people to vote on the issues, all the time, rather than just voting to elect a candidate from a particularly murky pool of potential leaders every four years, there will always be a lack of representation. In my opinion, things will only be right with this world when we do away with politics, and internal affairs and foreign affairs are decided by the people of the nations involved directly. Direct democracy is the only ideal I have ever heard of, which is really worth calling democracy at all.

That's the way it was on the Kibbutz True, all decisions that were to effect the community were voted upon by the community.

There was a housing decision once, it was basically the old folk verses the people with kids at home (having the kids at home rather than living together in the kids homes was a relatively new concept) The oldies dragged all of their cronies off of their sick beds to vote.

We of course only had one representative per household as one of us had to stay at home with the kids. I protested long and loud that it was unfair if our partners could not vote. Ironically we decided to vote whether or not to vote. We lost by 2 votes on both accounts.

But.....Every vote after that was over a 2 day period by ballot, so some good came of it.

"There's no place like home...there's no place like home...there's no place....."

OMG! I'm NEVER going to get my life back!!
I don't want to complain. I won't.

I'm also not going to discuss politics, husbands who make worm castles....or anything spoken prior in the thread...because I'm brain dead.

I just want to say that I miss you all SO much! I hope you are all well.
I miss writing.
Just typing this message feels like a soft caress to my senses. I love the tip-tap of the keyboard...*sigh*

Love, just love...

Hi Jane ******waves******

You have no idea how much we miss you here when you're not around!

I am now seriously worried.
I can only go by my own experience...
I can honestly say that 90% of the people I know are voting YES.
90% of the people who know the people I know are voting YES.
No one here believes in "the Polls" they don't tally with what we hear on the street here.
Yet, all predictions seem to be for a No win?

My mind can't work that out. I can't understand how the No vote is considered to be favourite, when everyone I speak to, on a daily basis, seems to be pro-YES???? Somethings not right????

I vote this be entered in for the best bathroom humor poetry award - I'm crying with laughter.

And the good news - They found my friend! No idea what happened, but I got word she's been able to contact her parents.

And AB, I did catch your note on my story - Glad you liked it!

It's been a pretty active day; but it'll be good to get some much needed rest again.

How goes the rest of the Shed? (Gordi, good luck to whatever side of the coin you voted for).

Hey Jane - How's life treating you on the other side of the water?

You missed out on seeing Angel surrounded by her new crystalline friends - Went a little bit crazy over at Ren. Fest in the crystal tent (and then there's a really big show coming up next month, so even more will be coming my way).

Things have been manic here since I moved......just non stop positivity! Been here 4 weeks, feels more like a fortnight!
My daughter has just bought her first house with her BF....they get the keys tomorrow night.....so no doubt I will get collared into removals!
Getting to be an old hand at this moving malarkey now!

So good to see Jacy and Jane pop in as they flit poof so often!!

Gordi awesome fart humor! LOL

Mura, what a talented and wonderful hubby you have!

Foss, So relieved to hear your friend has been found. Any details on what the hell happened??? Awesome that your crystal collection is growing!

Man I wrote a bunch of checks...one for 1,096.00, one for 758.00, one for 140.00...
Been a very expensive summer, but I did get my new computer this year. The rest were medical bills and I paid cash for some.

Mom had a lovely 91st Birthday get together today. We took out food from a restaurant and Me, My Mom and Sister had turkey dinners with real turkey, not that loaf crap. LOL Loads of turkey, mashed potatoes, squash, cranberry sauce and bread stuffing and a roll. Had enough for left overs! For desert there was white cake with real whipped cream and strawberries and some chocolate cake with rich creamy peanut butter frosting. OMG, to die for!! Forgot what my Brother ordered. She just wanted a very small get together this year. We usually take her out somewhere nice, but her knees hurt so bad and she preferred staying home. She got nice gifts and had a wonderful time.

Just waiting for the fraud cry to ring out. Happens every election, no matter where these days. I hope it stays peaceful.

But I'm thinking that people were frankly afraid of treading new ground and voting for what they thought of as the lesser evil.

Sorry man. But of course, it isn't over quite yet, and while a spectacular turnout, it seems the die has been cast. I guess I'll find out come morning.

Well let me begin with something a little more positive.

Read the lyrics, simple as they may be. They pertain to the prevailing situation, AND there are radical guitar lines to boot!

Indeed, happy birthday to Night's mother!

I am sorry for the belated nature of that greeting, but I was avoiding the site and the television news last night, against the possibility of having a psychotic break over the whole independence issue.

I sat and watched episode after episode of Fringe instead. Bloody good stuff.
