I worked for many years in a public library, both in the public and behind the scenes, everything from shelving books, to ordering and cataloging.
Also worked in a garden center, in various jobs, including cashier and florist.

Now I garden, indoor and outdoor.
I love starting my outdoor garden from seeds when \ever possible.
And enjoy being able to not work...although we live rather frugally.
I also spend a lot of time of ATS...

Great thread....I've enjoyed every page of it!!!!!!

A Misunderstood Malcontent (sounds like the Sex Pistols) trying to make 'AS JUSTICE blind' positive changes within this FANTACY fake worldscape using words only as weapons (I think I'm a PROXY).

Let's see. When I was 22 purchased my first business, it was a full service laundry mat. I added a dry cleaners to that, and expanded some.

Then... I got out of the business and decided to move and purchase some land to run some cows etc on. Where I had been simply wasn't a good place to raise kids... so I changed momentum a bit. At the time I had the land I went and became an LPN to supplement income.

Then I got injured, severely, and didn't work at all for 12 years. Through that I lost everything, the land etc etc... couldn't keep any of it up on disability, and for the first two years I was disabled I didn't even get that. Times were pretty rough from that point forward.

I started working again, doing inventory and advertising and online sales for a company almost two years ago.... but just now moved so I am looking for a job in my new location... but - I have started an eBay store in the interim selling items on eBay to supplement income (hopefully) and perhaps eventually do only that.

That is my actual work history in a nutshell. I worked online when I was unable to work but that is more classified than anything. I ran a website and did my part to fight extremism in my religion then... pretty much made a small career out of that for many years.

You know, the one thing in life I always wanted to be was a stay at home mom. Life never worked out that way for me - I always ended up having to work, the closest I ever got was after I became disabled, and to be honest it wasn't so fun when I couldn't do the stay at home mom stuff I had always dreamed of. (heck for a while I couldn't even manage using the bathroom without help! not so fun really...
)

But... for a few years I was home with my kids, and I was so happy and grateful for that time I had with them....

Don't ever think being a housewife and a mother is easy, or mediocre. It's an excellent and rewarding career choice!

I am indeed blessed that I got the opportunity. It did not come easy and we did without a whole lot to be able to do it. There were many years we only had one vehicle, no cable, no internet, no date night steak dinners out, etc. living on one income is all but impossible these days and I think that's the purpose a lot of the time (whole other thread there). I do wish that everyone who wanted to do it... Could. I don't think it even occurs to a lot of folks these days and I find that sometimes sad. It's almost like it's a thing of the past now.

I am glad you got to do it for a while and that is far better than none. The memories last forever.

I am able to live on one income. I have no GF, and a ton of debt (nothing more than 15 grand tho) and I.... Since last month... I have had two job changes. (yeah not exactly what I wanted but hey... I keep getting promoted to Supervisor and then getting fired.... Why? No one in my town wants to work...
)

But.... I would have to make a new thread on what I think of the job market today. In fact I would have to write an article about it. I have a lot to say on the subject.

I'm 36 and at the moment I'm an engineer for Vodafone but when I look at the long (long) list of employers I had I guess you could say that my real quality is being a pain in the a**.

I've had about 15 jobs that always start out pretty good but after 1 to 2 years I get really bored. Every boss I had has always been happy with my work and I've have never been fired in my life. I have no real area of interest but I pick up thinks pretty quick.

I wish I knew what I wanted to be...

Maybe I'll just go back to plan A and become a fireman, policeman or astronaut.

Peace
