The Army has now declared it to be a coup, citing fear for loss of life.

Something I found rather of interest this morning.. The US Airforce comes though every few months and helps with a courtesy maintenance inspection and actually trains with the Thais on certain aircraft like the C-130.. They were here about 6 months ago training and doing inspections on C-130s. Great group of guys.. Today there was a US KC-135 (the new model with the high bi-pass engines...same 707 airframe) flying around all over the place mostly low level (below 3000 msl) Wonder if uncle sugar is trying to sell the KC-135 air tanker ? The Thais actually have some decent fighter aircraft aircraft but I do not know if they have air to air refueling capability ? I could find out in the next few days for I play golf with some of the big boys of the airforce.. We never talk shop just play golf for a little Baht.

Looks like the Thais are running 54 F-16 A/B Block 15 OCU/ADF/MLU in service (39 F-16 A and 15F-16 B)[4] 12 F-16A and 6 F-16B undergoing MLU program ...

They are still using 16 F-5T and 18 F-5E/F ...I always liked the F-5 but it's day is long passed except for some 3d world conflict.... F-5T (s) were upgraded to the Python-4 integrated Elbit Systems DASH (Display And Sight Helmet) HMS system. Have not heard good or bad...... or if the upgrade was successful... I am very far removed from even caring /

I have seen some en.wikipedia.org... flying around which are a beautiful aircraft.. I do not know much about them for I never flew one.. I think they are supposed to end up with 18 but I am not sure..

If Uncle sugar wanted to he could supply the Thai air force with more aircraft than they have pilots for, all from Davis Monthan AFB.... The ones they have parked in the desert for those unfamiliar with the base where all our excess goes. For that matter Uncle sugar could supply all of S.E. Asia if China started getting frisky. Won't happen IMO but the assets are certainly there. Let us hope some kind of proxy stuff does not come about...

So far today there seems to be a few more check points on the major highways but my wife says they are looking for drugs because of a major bust that went down... otherwise it was hotter than a fresh bowl of chili today...

It is 18:58 and the television signal went off air about 20 minutes ago.. I just figured it was the satellite or something with my system... My wife is speaking to a friend who just told her the military has turned off (?) television signals (?) or suppliers.

Before writing this I checked both T.V.s which are on separate systems.. no signal... Probably not a good move IMO for it takes the pabulum from the masses ? Internet is still working or it was when I stared this post.

I did hear there was a meeting between the reds and the yellow shirt leaders.... Nothing good came out of the entrenched positions... This may be some fall-out from that..?

The curfew was announced, and political leaders being rounded up..... flash of the most recent Game of Thrones episode come to mind

The army chief imposed the 22:00 to 05:00 curfew, along with a ban on political gatherings and suspension of normal television programming.

Key political figures have been detained and others ordered to report to the military.

The army said it needed to restore order and enact political reforms.

It declared martial law on Tuesday but then gathered political leaders together for talks on the crisis.

However, army chief Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha went on air on Thursday to announce the coup.

Several key figures at the talks, including opposition protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban and pro-government protest leader Jatuporn Prompan, were detained.

What bothered me about this was the way I found out about it. On the local morning news station the guy said

"martial law has been declared"

he then paused just long enough for me to think he was maybe talking about us here in the US before finishing his statement

"in Thailand".

Mental conditioning or what? Maybe they just thought it would be funny.
