MOSCOW (ABC Live):Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Saturday his country was willing to continue dialogue with the current Ukrainian authorities.
“We are ready to continue the dialogue on the understanding that the dialogue must be honest, partnership-like, without attempts to show us almost as a party to the conflict,” Lavrov said after talks with his Tajik counterpart, Sirojidin Aslov.
He also said Russia would push for an investigation into reports of snipers cutting down scores of protestors in Kiev’s Independence Square during the carnage preceding Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych’s ouster.

The Korean peninsula is right on China's doorstep. We have a red line, that is, we will not allow war or instability on the Korean peninsula," Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi
Wang reiterated China's calls for a resumption of the talks between North Korea, South Korea, the United States, Japan, Russia and host China.
"Confrontation can only bring tension, and war can only cause disaster," Wang said. "Some dialogue is better than none, and better early than later."

U.S. clearly told Russia - we are ready to respond to the threat
Ukraine sent a clear message to members of NATO and the U.S. are willing to "say the military if necessary."

So we have China being rational even with their statement on Ukraine and keep calling for people to stop violence and tensions and talk. And we have Russia who we figured was rational and a world leader creating conflict its almost like we have entered an alternate universe.

And there we have the nub of the matter. To Russia, their naval port in Crimea means access to the Middle East. It has always been of grave consequence to Russia going all the way back to the break-up of the Ottoman empire.

An excuse for military action.
Canadian reporters in Crimea were reporting on how the Crimean people wanted all westerners out. They are very pro-Russian and see western media as an intrusion. They're getting a little bit hostile with western interference.
Unfortunately, there's no way the US government is going to let this go.

Insane. Maybe.
I hope not, but they're sure pushing.
Sometimes it sounds like no one wants to be the first one to back away.
What an odd comment to make. Needless to say if the US does put boots on the ground in Crimea Russia will not be given the choice as to whether the US move their navy in for a short term stay or not! The Russians have wanted a conflict from the very start and they will get one if they continue with their rhetoric and if they continue to move further into Ukraine.
