I know some people are comparing SAS and the SEALS to what any SWAT or HRT unit has to go through. This isn't true. Military special forces can go into a house and level everyone inside. Civilian special forces have to deal with friendly targets and collateral damage. They cannot simply spray a house or dump a grenade inside. Training is different for the two situations.

What is this strange obsession with SAS.. Was it SAS who found Saddam or Bin Laden? No. We have FBI HRT on the case.. They train with US DEVGRU...like seals. SAS is highly regarded and they are good but their difference with US DEVGRU marginal. Besides SAS isn't even the division that would handle this.. It would most likely be SBS.

HRT is the best at dealing with civilian tactical issues, period.

Actually in regards to Special forces for both the UK and USA are very closely linked. The number of people and the acceptable number of civilian loss are discussed at high level before the event, usually in the 10% mark. 10% death rate that is.

And about innocent people not running, if he was set up he might run from the people who set him up, since he might just know what will happen to him if he gets caught... Not that I think he's been set up, I think he's had help and is planning something serious, and is certainly not innocent. But if he was innocent, he might still have reasons to run.
