Definition of [Picrotoxin Procaine] Propranolol (from Wikipedia)

Propranolol (INN) is a sympatholytic non-selective beta blocker. Sympatholytics are used to treat hypertension, anxiety and panic. It was the first successful beta blocker developed. Propranolol is available in generic form as propranolol hydrochloride, as well as an AstraZeneca and Wyeth product under the brand names Inderal, Inderal LA, Avlocardyl, Deralin, Dociton, Inderalici, InnoPran XL, Sumial, Anaprilinum, Bedranol SR (Sandoz).
Propranolol is one of the banned substances in the Olympics.

So, give me a minute to catch you up on this thought process; I was cleaning up in the kitchen and my fiance had 'Chelsea Lately' on TV in the living room. I wasn't really listening until they mentioned racism; that other current affair regarding that 'racist shooting' came to mind so I paid attention real quick and realized they were talking about Propranolol. What they were saying was that it could potentially "cure racism."

I did a quick search and came up with the below yahoo link; sure enough, Propranolol seems to be being pushed as a possible, new, "anti-racism" drug. Since "racism" is purely a matter of opinion and preference that's perpetuated by developmental environments and culture, I thought this was ridiculous. To say it's a "cure for racism" is to say "it's a cure for opinion and preference that's perpetuated by developmental environment and culture."

Yahoo Article:
news.yahoo.com...

Deciding I should share this new-to-me information with you all here at ATS, I logged on and did a quick search. What I found has somewhat stopped my train of thought and made me consider the what-if possibility that this new drug, Propranolol is being pushed for another reason? What reason? Consider the following threads:

Propranolol May Cure Autism:
www.abovetopsecret.com...

Propranolol Can Suppress Traumatic Memories:
www.abovetopsecret.com...

Beta-Blockers (Propranolol) May Treat PTSD:
www.abovetopsecret.com...

Now think about the fact that the drug, Picrotoxin Procaine Propranolol was developed in the 1960's right around the time '___' was receiving a great deal of political heat, leading to '___''s prohibition. The CIA was working with '___' for mind-control techniques, most notably within the MK-Ultra Project. The guy who first synthesized Propranolol received the Nobel Peace Prize for his discovery.

Now, my mind's reeling with the notion that this drug, could be coaxed into public awareness and approval through the consistent propagation of racism through the media. America's had it's first black president and racism is still "rampant" and "uncontrollable." This mindset could lead people to believe the drug is okay and that once it's approved for it's specific use, and not diluted or used within other pre-approved drugs, it could cause a multitude of problems within society.

The idea of altering ones memories is not a new idea, as disclosed in this Wall Street Journal Article:
online.wsj.com...

Now; the fact that it's being toted as a way to create the "Soldier of the Future" by allowing them to stay psychologically distant from the battlefield, scares the ever loving crap out of me. I'm going to go out on a limb and speculate that THIS may be the drug that allows American soldiers to target American citizens during a time of Marshal Law [inevitably invoked to protect us of course, from ourselves] without hesitation, fear, or regret.

You might be thinking that this idea is a crock of crap and I'm sure many will agree with you. However, I've been watching the "War on Terror" since it's inception on 9/11 and I still cannot justify the war today, just like I couldn't justify it on 9/12. As far as I can see, this is not about oil, as most presume...America has low gas prices and we buy most of our oil from Canada and Mexico. It's not about WMD's...because we haven't found any. It's not about Helen of Troy (a woman), and it's not about land ownership or occupations. It's also not about "American Freedom" because as of today, I (as an American) have less rights than I did 11 years ago. It's not about money...because all of our debt is backless and the Chinese own most of what we think is ours.

I think this war is being perpetuated so as to insure that our soldiers, upon their return home, have missed so much time in the real world, that the only option they'll have that offers retirement and decent compensation, and aligns with their skill sets is as a "Peace Officer" in the USA. "Securing and suppressing domestic terrorists" will be a walk in the park when their nerves are calmed and their psychological connections and emotional reactions to what they're ordered to do are inhibited by Propranolol.

This notion has been in my head for quite some time now (a matter of months) but I kept telling myself, there's no way that our soldiers would be able to do such a thing [as formerly discussed in other threads and in private conversations.] Now that I know there is a drug that might help them do so, makes me nervous to say the least.

What are your thoughts on Propranolol?
Why do you think it's being described to treat so many different 'afflictions'?
Why do you think it's received so much funding to test it again and again on different 'problems'?

Now consider the following video...
www.youtube.com...

Do you now realize that racism is simply opinion and preference that's perpetuated by developmental environment and culture? If racism is reduced by Propranolol, then your opinions based on emotion (which they ALL are) will be reduced as well. This soldier, speaking out about what he's been ordered and forced to do during the "War on Terror" would no longer be speaking out...his terrible memories would be suppressed and replaced with neutral or even good memories.

So what's a crock of crap now?

This is very interesting. It might be the chemical lobotomy they were looking for when they developed fluoxetine (aka Prozac). Ever since reading Brave New World I've felt like TPTB have been actively searching for an easy drug that could zombify the masses.

Many will take something like this with pleasure since it will promise to "erase bad memories" and "make life easier." A lot of people don't care if they are slaves as long as they can have their basic needs met and have some porn to watch.

It is about oil but not for the reasons you and many presume, or assume.

It's not about getting their oil, it's about keeping it from being drilled.

It's about keeping the Middle East from becoming economically powerful, and to keep oil prices high.

Artificial scarcity is a requirement of capitalism.

It's not the first time this has happened...

The following was written three decades ago:

Although its original concession of March 14, 1925, cove- red all of Iraq, the Iraq Petroleum Co., under the owner- ship of BP (23.75%), Shell (23.75%), CFP [of France] (23.75%), Exxon (11.85%), Mobil (11.85%), and [Calouste] Gulbenkian (5.0%), limited its production to fields constituting only one-half of 1 percent of the country's total area. During the Great Depression, the world was awash with oil and greater output from Iraq would simply have driven the price down to even lower levels.

Keeping Iraq's Oil In the Ground Did the U.S. invade Iraq to tap its oil reserves or to make sure they stayed under the sand?

This reminds me immediately of the film Equilibrium, where the entire populace is drugged to remove emotions, racism, etc.

It's not a far off theory what you have laid out here.

But I can assure you of one thing, not everyone will be on it.

The people pushing such policies are always hypocrites.

What is Picrotoxin Procaine? After googling it, this thread is at the top.

Propranolol isn't being "pushed" anymore than any other drug. Finding new uses goes for any drug.

The CIA was working with '___' for mind-control techniques, most notably within the MK-Ultra Project. The guy who first synthesized Propranolol received the Nobel Peace Prize for his discovery.

Scottish scientist James W. Black successfully developed propranolol in the 1960s. In 1988, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine for this discovery

en.wikipedia.org...

Were you implying that he won the "peace prize" because of how you think this drug might be used?

Might want to wiki "Nobel Prize".

This isn't like alcohol were everything suddenly becomes a good idea. Performers can use it for one to avoid stage fright. There probably are already drugs that could allow or aid soldiers to do that, that would work better than propranolol.

Propranolol is currently being investigated as a potential treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder.[11][12][13] Propranolol works to inhibit the actions of norepinephrine, a neurotransmitter that enhances memory consolidation Studies have shown that individuals given propranolol immediately after a traumatic experience show less severe symptoms of PTSD compared to their respective control groups that did not receive the drug

I take this pill for when I get an irregular heart beat. I don't know about the other stuff, but it does the job for what I take it for.

I've been taking it for several years for high blood pressure. It works so-so in that regard on me, but in regard to reducing or preventing racism, I don't think it is working!

I think you have some misconceptions about how much influence this drug has on the brain.
It is helpful in traumatic stress situations because it lowers anxiety and prevents panic attacks, it does not remove memories and/or replace them, it just makes bad memories easier to deal with.

How do I know this?

I have been taking propranalol for at least ten years, initially for irregular heart beat, but have found it is also benificial in preventing migraines.
Now, I do not have suppressed emotions ( I still cry at sad movies), I don't have a warped sense of whats right and wrong morally, I know nothing of racism as I wasn't one before and I am quite certain no one but me is in control of my mind.

cheers

It seems evident that the public is being heavily sedated.
Firstly theres the fluroide that attacks the pinead gland, ritalin that makes hyperactive children (that is children who aren't glued to the televison) motionless, talks of a drug to cure road rage (pretty much sedation through becoming more placid), antidepressants that I only agree with in the worst of cases and dont allow people to deal with their emotional issues and cause them to stagnate AND sometimes even make suicide more likely and now propranolol.

There is something in common with these drugs, the suppression of emotion.
How malliable will the public become when they are absolutely apathetic to the injustice around them? We already have it in mass media when you are liked you are "cool" (cold) or "ill" (sick) "mad" (crazy).
Without emotion, we can be contorted into any form the higher ups wish. The most worrying thing about this however as the OP mentioned that this most definately will be directed to the soilders who are already on a mass amount of medications.

I have a question. One of the things that the TSA looks for as a sign of a "potential terrorist" is shaking palms, nervousness, anxiety, etc. What happens if the "terrorists" get smart and start to take this drug?

Hey, that is EXACTLY the movie I thought of when I read what the OP had to say! If the world became like what was portrayed in that movie we are all in a mess of unmeasurable trouble!!!

One thing thats missing here. Beta blockers are prescribed like candy. Very often they are stacked. They are given out for things based on side effects they produce, more commonly than their real use, for mental patients. To stabilize them until a proper drug therapy can be started at the inpatient level.

The main thing they do is kill the fight or flight response.

This makes them a prime pill for the stars, who often get stage fright.

When given to the elderly that are already taking numerous medications there is a noticeable mortality rate at 5 years.

I'm on 120mg of Propranolol once a day and 2mg of xanax twice a day. I have really high anxiety and these medications really help me out alot Propranolol made the biggest difference for me. Much more relaxed.

thought provoking thread. My dad takes this stuff for his heart. he's 80, and I can honestly say he is more emotionally mature and open minded than ever. Which does not mean anything though. It is possible that different formulations and dosages may have dramatically different effects on people.
Whenever the Nobel prize is given it frightens me. Apparently the Nobel Laurette even liked the cannibalism in the the film, The Road , and awarded the the author the prize.
TPTB have drugs you have not even heard about, and they are successfully doping the world! so watch OUT!

WESTERN CIVILIZATION IS STONED! only They don't know it

edit: wait a sec...is this not the stuff that zombified and killed Michael Jackson??

Being someone with abuse memories and night terrors, it actually causes more damage to continue to disociate those memories. So pretty much, this drug is bad if you are someone with traumatic memories.

I have been taking Propanalol for 10 years now to suppress cluster headaches. To be honest, without it I couldn't live a normal life. I haven't had time to read the whole OP. I'm not racist in any way but that isn't because of the drug. People cannot be drugged out of racism.
