Yes,we are the "United States of America".
And what a fancy brand name that is,dont ya think?

Call it what you will, but the fact remains, the U.S isnt aabove history,no nation is.

Why people look at America as some unique thing,is beyond me.

Rome stood alot longer than we have, and it too fell and divided.
And for its time,it was the most powerful empire of its day, sound familiar?

Rome was the most powerful empire ever.

And the United states already is divided......I'll prove it.....

I can't wait for the west coast to break off from all the other states and form it's own country. Gonna be sweet.

While I certainly hope this is just Mr Panarin spouting off more cold war dogma and rhetoric, One cannot help but wonder if not his version of a breakup, but another type of one may happen.

There are several threads on here discussing states declaring sovereignty, there is and has been talk in the past of the 10 or so Federal Districts that FEMA could set up, so if he's basing his views on that, well, while his timetable and some of his statements are outrageous (I seem to remember him saying something about China gaining control of the West Coast and the Eastern Seaboard reverting to EU control) the general premise may be sound, if we don't work together to hold this fragile experiment together, we may find a continent of independent countries (North American States who knows?) all vieing for power in the years to come.

We as a nation need to step up and disprove this drivel, not by just complaining about the fact that some Russian said it, but by showing the world that no matter what is happening to us, we are one cohesive unit, and we will defend our rights and our nation to the end.

(phew)

I'd think you'd find it was the British.

Largest empire in terms of land mass and population. Arguable the only empire that came close to world domination.

Please. Give me a break

Oh by all means No I do not thnk we will, I think it's more of a Description of Russia than the U.S. - Propaganda machine - If you read the artical he states " Americans are in moral decline, saying their great psychological stress is evident from school shootings, the size of the prison population and the number of gay men."

laughable at best.... Gay Men - Please, lol, lol

USA is showing all the signs that Rome showed in its end days , even former Comptroller General David Walker stated

but in Russia ,the Russian orthodox church, Sufi and sunni Islam is growing stronger ....thus moral values continue to exist

Walker has compared the present-day United States with the Roman Empire in its decline, saying the U.S. government is on a "burning platform" of unsustainable policies and practices with fiscal deficits, expensive overcommitments to government provided health care, swelling Medicare costs, the enormous expense of a prospective universal health care system, immigration, and overseas military commitments threatening a crisis if action is not taken soon

USA has much debt , that it is in greater peril than Soviet union was ever in .don't worry , USA will soon be part of Mexico , divided and ruled by warlords and drug cartels , I can put a bet on that happening before 2020

Well while I don't see such a "drastic" change for America, we are after all a Republic bound by an union, so actually in the bases US is divided into states that acts as one.

So divided we are already.

Still I take what is coming our way, we will be entering a Depression before the year is over,

The United States is in a recession, there is no doubt about that. The National Bureau of Economic Research has declared that we have been in a recession since December 2007, and according to almost all sources within or outside of the government we will be in recession for some time to come. However, there is always the ominous threat that our official recession could become officially recognized as a “ depression” if the economy continues its hopeless slide.

The White House, Treasury, Federal Reserve, and government in general refused to use the term “recession” in any official capacity until this past November – at which point the writing had already been on the wall for nearly a year. It will likely take even longer before they characterize our current economic malaise as a “depression.”

Depending how bad this will hit the states many states will probably be trying to work on their own while parting from the union.

I have read at least a few statements the past week of Americans hoping the US collapses. I'm trying to figure out what kind of situation a person like that would be in, using reason I have to think they are already bottomed out and you know the old saying, misery loves company.

I certainly don't hope my country collapses; what do you think, you'll be better off if it does? Do you relish the idea of tent cities and standing in a bread line for eight hours? Do you have any idea how many years of suffering could ensue? Total chaos, like the worst area of New Orleans becomes the norm?

Maybe things won't get that bad, we can at least try to hope that enough of us can keep the country going to at least being able to still help each other. Ya know, one family member still has a job and makes enough to feed the rest, that kind of thing. Then, maybe in 4 years people will give more thought to the direction our politics need to go in, and elect RON PAUL. YAY!!!

Numbers don't lie.... thats it. we owe more than we can pay back even if we tried.
We've become good at printing money, but that money is backed by the faith of the people to determine its worth. We'll become no different than the rubel was in Russia during the early 90's.
U.S. assets are even owned by foreign investors and The Fed is above the US Gov't, why? because it's always always about the money.

All this is information we already know!!!!

Russia can talk all they want, it's been only 20 years since the communist vail was lifted for them, China has finally realized that we were right and finally decided to join the world economy within the last 30 years.

Yea
, we messed up by getting greedy, we got lazy as a country and expected the gov't to help us out and they did, *at a price* our freedom.

Our politicians didn't care because to much money was coming in and neither did we because times were good.

Look, the US is the way it is today because we let it as a people become that way, how many of your where complaining when your 401K, CD, and IRA accounts where on the rise???

How many of you where complaining when the gov't was giving you great deals for student loans by offering 1% interest.

Most people forget that the gov't exsist for the people not the other way around, so stop complaining and do something about it. Just don't complain because your reaping the consequences of your actions.

FYI, The US collapsing would only happen if the world explodes.

So having bankrupted their own country with the application of socialist dogma, and then switched to evil capitalism to recover from their living nightmare, plus losing the Cold War and seeing their country broken up into little ungovernable pieces, the Russians are now predicting the downfall of the United States.

Seriously - why do people make it sound like this is Russia predicting the downfall of the US or wishing for it? All this is is some idiot attention whore being an attention whore. This does not represent either the opinion of the country or its population, or its wishes. Same goes for the Russian government. Russians are no overly concerned with what happens to the US, and many actually share a positive opinion on Obama and America's future.

This is like judging the views of Americans based on the likes of Fred Phelps of Karl Rove.

It is time to put the joker who published that prediction and articles on him to rest. He got what he wanted - attention. The Western media was only too happy to grant it to him.

Well, gays are considered immoral in some countries. We are in a moral decline, look around you. Watch television after 1AM. You can't really say we are a country that believes AND lives by morals.

We are almost void of morals in this country, so yes he is correct.

Not that Russia is any better.

"Morals are a distinctly human trait with no superhuman authority behind it."
-Einstein-

Who are any of us to judge anyone else as immoral?

Oh and vkey are you talking about Ara's Pastries? Cuz its fantastic

Actually while I like Ara's I prefer the Shelly more, out past Highland.

Immorality has been devised by those in a position of power to keep themselves in power or to create a rift between those that are and are not, for the purpose of making money.

If anyone remembers the old Bloom County comic strip from the 80's you'll remember Bill the Cat in an attempt to make money as a televangelist (ack pfft) decreed Penguin Lust was immoral. It very well may not have been, but since a person in a position of some influence said it, it then became an immoral act. While that strip was satire, it hit a nail on the head. What we now consider immoral, the Romans may not have, or certainly not even maybe our forefathers, while some of what they did, we would now see as heinous.

It all depends on who's making the judgment call as to what will be immoral this week. I'm putting my money on red meat and half and half next week personally....

When the Soviet Union broke up, did Poland take over any Russian land?

Did China or Mongolia snatch up some former Soviet real estate?

North Korea?

Iran? Afghanistan?

Did the US jump on Siberia?

To which, are the northern US states going to be defeated by the invading Canadian army? Or will the most armed nation on the planet surrender without firing a single shot?

Remember, in the Middle East, you have peasants and militants. If the US has to defend it's own land, THE ENTIRE NATION is militant.

Granted, a 357 is no match for an AK47 but still, who wants that headache?

Seriously, if the Russians try to take Alaska, we will nuke them. They will nuke us back and, for the few that survive in Australia, nothing but food and water will matter after wards.

Will Japan take Hawaii? Are you kidding me? Should we even go there?

Will Mexico take Texas? Maybe in the 1800s. But as long as there are nukes in Texas, Mexico will NOT be interested. When Texas starts shooting back at Mexican militants that cross over, those illegal cross overs will cease. Machine guns mounted on a pickup versus a Blackhawk or Apache. There isn't a Mexican in Mexico that wants a piece of THAT action.

Sure, Mexico can retaliate with fighter jets. Enter USAF's F16s.

Can the US take on the entire planet? No but if it comes to that, the US will make this one radiated planet.

Mutual Assured Destruction.

Every economy in the world is plugged into the US economy within 2 degrees. If the US falls apart, it's not the end for the US. It's THE end. For everybody.

If the US stops exporting food...
If we stop giving humanitarian, economic, and military aid to other nations.....

US stops giving aid to Israel. Arabs invade. Israeli nukes fly. Oil exports out of the middle east cease entirely.

Careful what you wish for.

There are going to be some changes for sure. But this I guarantee, if they try to take democracy away from Americans, Americans will stand up and take this country back with deadly, bloody force.

And if it's on our soil, you can throw the Geneva convention rules out the window. If the middle east thinks they know what torture is, they have never talked to a drunk American hillbilly.

If your an American hillbilly that likes to get drunk, you know what I am talking about.

Japan and Germany talked about attacking the US during WWII. They were going to divide it along the Mississippi River.

ppttt, lol! Very few Germans and Japanese would have made it home alive.

If it gets so bad that Texas wants to leave the US, things will get interesting. Barring that, America will be fine in the end.

I can see things getting so bad that a few states slide away from the union for a temporary amount of time. And it may or may not take the a civil war to bring them back in line.

But divided or united, these 50 states will defend each other from ANY invading nation, including the UN.

And so will our nukes.

That's why other nations didn't jump on Russia when Russia broke up.

If the US starts falling apart, no smart nation will jump on us either.

Sorry for the chest thumping.

Peace until war.
