If 2012 comes and goes without the end of the world, can we all just agree to a breather from doomsday discussions for let's say, 16 years?

'One generation' from the resurrection of Israel in 1948 has already passed. By 2028, we will have hit 2 generations. If we hit that date without the end, can we dismiss Bible prophecy altogether?

What say you?

2012 has nothing to do with Bible prophecy, it's from the Mayan calendar. I don't know about the generations since Israel's founding stuff you talk about, but if that's based on scripture, I think it's a pretty loose interpretation that would be wrong if it didn't come to pass.

There is no way in hell that doomsday discussions would ever stop on this site. They're probably one of the most interesting things to talk about. And everyone enjoys reading them, at least i know i do.

I'm just wondering what this site will be looking like in December of 2011. An election year and the end of the world!

No... someone will step forward and start hyperventilating about a comet or asteroid. Then Johnnie TyTorr will come out of the woodworks and announce he's looking for a copy of Unix 86 for his time travel machine... and proclaim our demise as a civilization in a great civil war sometime in 2022 -- unless the timeline changes somehow.

If 2012 comes and goes...

Well there is the impending computer crash of 2049...
Similar to a Y2K glitch, but at least there is plenty of time to fix it....

I think we will expect more or less of the same old same stories, people Human beings like to speculate about everything, that's why there are things like Conspiracy theories..

1948 + 70 =2018 CE
1948 +120=2068 CE
would conform to the statement of: (that generation shall not pass till all these things be accomplished.) **a paraphrase of a scripture....
and is quite different from 2012

Interested why you say it's different from 2012? It's more likely that 2012 would see most of that generation still alive, by 70 a good percentage will have started dying off and there's not much chance of anybody still being alive at 120.

The title should be "WHEN 2012 comes and goes...."

And like someone said before 2012 has nothing to do with the Bible.

Hey, as long as nothing happens, we keep posting.

If we do go, can someone get in touch with me (with your sign in name)? That would be so awesome. Maybe in 2012 all the dems and reps will be holding hands in the great hereafter?
Dont mind me- I'm just in one of those moods

We still have some time, anyway!

You might have some time, but the world ended almost two hours ago for all us on the east coast. You've got about 8 minutes if you read this right now, enjoy it...

If we are lucky enough to hit that day without the end ,i think we should not dismiss the bible but should celebrate for its inaccuracy in predicting.

If something was to happen......for better or worse....I'm down with it, but if nothing was to happen, I bet a lot of folks would kill themselves because of disappointment. LMAO

besides the entertainment value associated with 2012, and any other loony prediction, I do not think they should be taken seriously, my best advice is to live each day like the next one will not come anyhow.. Besides as screwed up as it sounds many of us won't live to 2012.
