The idea behind peer review is sound, but only so long as the peers are reviewing the process objectively, not subjectively. When everyone knows the desired outcome and will ignore the flaws in the process in order to reach it, peer review breaks down.

When that happens, all science breaks down. And it's happening quite a lot lately.

Person A makes a claim... doesn't matter if said claim is scientific or not, or if there is evidence or not. Person B decides to write a "scientific" paper stating why he believes the claim. Person C then "peer reviews" Person B's paper based on the fact that person A said it is true. Soon you have every Tom, Dick, and Harry coming up with experiments designed specifically to prove the claim; any experiments that might disprove it are summarily covered up. Finally, there is the claim that we have a "scientific consensus" to verify the original claim, although no actual objective analysis has ever been performed.

Any further questioning is then subjected to ridicule and dismissed. After all, since the original claim is already "proven," questioning it must be a mark of "conspiracy."

This is not science; this is "scientism": a bastardized, irreverent system of mostly false assumptions touted as "science" which must be adhered to at all costs and must never be questioned. It bears a striking resemblance to that which occurred in the Dark Ages under the name of "religion."

I wasn’t discussing peer review here, simply noting that folks look to their peers for social cues, which of late is simply parroting SCIENCE without actually following any research. As I already stated, folks are confusing position and rank as the holder of science because it’s reinforced to let others think for you.

Certainly an appeal to authority, im not sure if god factors in with following the science thing, some seem to think it might and there’s a dogmatic flavor the the faith displayed in those who wield power.

People have a need to believe in something. There are those who place that faith in science and the "high priests" of science. They seem so sure that anyone with advanced degrees must be so much smarter that they place them in the god seat.

Well if you read his emails, the peer reviews are auto generated.. it takes them months if not years to fix errors on those.

This is insane you believe this, how the hell can it not keep the virus out but can keep it in? Masks are not a one way valve. And there is a big difference between a health care worker wearing one properly in a clinical setting and throwing it away after they see you and the average person wearing one improperly and touching it all day and reusing the same mask all day for days or weeks on end without even washing it, there is also a big difference between a real mask and wrapping a mission gaiter or bandana around your face. And why must we pre suppose that everyone has this virus that for 99+ % of the population is survivable? How scientific is it to assume 100% of the population is infected?

Health care professionals, for example Surgeons in the Operating Theatre wear those cheap throwaway masks. And they wear them NOT to keep from getting infected by their patient - they wear them so that they don't infect their patient. This is exactly the same reason we should wear masks.

The main way Covid-19 spreads is on breath aerosols. Wearing a mask prevents 95% of your breath aerosols spreading into the area where other people are likely to exposed. No it isn't perfect, but it is 95% better than nothing. And it doesn't do much to protect you from others, it protects others from you.

They also wear them for short periods (as in, a single operation), dispose of them as medical waste afterwards instead of reusing them, do not wear them other times, and are careful to wear them properly and not touch them during surgery.

Just keeping the record straight.

BTW, nice graphic... but if you wear short pants, they don't do much to protect you... and if you wear them on your head they do nothing to protect anyone (in either case, as the pee-er or the pee-ee). Maybe just tell people it's a good idea to wear proper pants properly and show them how instead of just saying "Everyone has to wear pants or else!"

You also wouldn't be confronted with people in a hip cast not being able to wear pants...

real scientists are the biggest skeptics of all. They question everything . Tehy try to disprove their own theories, not prop themselves up as Science itself.

How can some one who's had a top virologist like Dr. Bahkdi. Totally
criticize the hell out of him. For everything including the use of
the PCR test. To the use of the experimental vaccine for nothing
more than a cold in most cases. How can he even think no one
is looking at him without hate in their eyes?

What has Fauci done during this pandemic? He has done only exactly
what it looks like he's done. And it's not just him. The actions of the
key players on the left go hand in hand with everything Dr. Death has
tried to accomplish.

Infertility and a high death toll. It remains to be seen if more people
die. And they're still pushing it. Just the way it looks he should be a
nervous wreck. I've never seen science look like this before. Because
I've never seen science look like murder before.
