The numbers you are using for 2020 excludes the entire month of January and has incomplete numbers for November and December.

The 58,796 for 2/1/2020, are the number of deaths that occurred in the final week of January 2020.

And, keep in mind that only 6% of all Covid-19 deaths are 100% caused by Covid-19. 94% of them are people who had 2 or more pre-existing medical conditions before contracting Covid-19.

I don't think anyone is arguing that people with pre existing conditions are more vulnerable, doesn't make them any less dead.

That is one of the reasons the excess deaths figure is an important indicator of if Covid really is killing more people .

The figures you linked show excess deaths per week, did you look at that? There is categorically no doubt that more people are dying in 2020. You either haven't read your own link or are lying, which is it?

The point is:

1) Death counts are not linear. They will vary from year to year and you cant simply say that more deaths is caused specifically by Covid. It is like how a city may have 600 murders in one year and 700 murders the next. The reasons for the increases can be quite complicated and can't be put on any one factor necessarily ( maybe gang members had more head shots vs winging people in a prior year).

2) The deaths may be more a function of the lockdown than covid itself. The focus on Covid means people aren't getting cancer, stroke, heart attack, and other treatments.

1. It was the OP decision to use a direct year on year comparison (and got it wrong). The CDC uses a 5 year average to calculate excess deaths .

The increase is way beyond normal year on year change

2. We wouldn't expect the impact of indirect deaths to be as immediate. Missed appointments may lead to increased deaths in the future but we would not expect that level in the time frame.

There is also other strands of evidence from testing and death certificates showing the excess deaths are mainly being caused directly by Covid.

The preliminary estimates in the US, exceed 3.2 million deaths. This will be the largest percentage increase of deaths since 1918, which saw the Spanish Flu and World War I.

Also the life expectancy in the US is down significantly with those estimates

Tough to deny COVID is not a significant cause of death.

virologist no med pro at all in any way. Bill Gates forecasting death
numbers in the millions. And describing the outbreak as far back
as 2010. What I'm saying is Gates prediction of millions is still in play.

And the only way we could reach the numbers he forecast now? Is
thru the vaccine iincompetence ( Cuomo and nursing homes) that will
be blamed on it's development. Because they had to rush the vaccine.

He was also not saying the vaccine will not work, he was explaing what the vaccine will actually do. Prevent people becoming ill rather than prevent infection.
