Ya know, it's funny...
You never seem to hear about full grown, able bodied men getting accosted.
Only children and smaller dudes.
They don't want to have actual debates or confront people who may fight back. Typical behavior of any bully, one punch to the face usually sets them straight. I am not advocating violence btw.
The role of a teacher is one of a role model....of a leader and shaper of minds. But, political shaping should NOT be poart of that class agenda, unless it is part of the approved curriculum of the school....PERIOD.

It's not "just a hat" and you know that, it's been designed and sold as symbol of support for a political figure.
Was the teacher out of line, sure. Yet this little Canadian is holding up politically controversial regalia of a sexist and racist "leader" who did promote violence in his rallies with the exact same sentence the teacher used.
If you want to be outraged about this you should start at the root and look at the facts.
And don't go "why is Trump (grab 'em by the pussy) racist boohoo..." he is. He called people crossing the border "animals", or Judge Gonzalo Curiel he said something like "he is mexican I'm building a wall!" about a judge of the United States of America because of his heritage that's very unamerican and racist...
"#hole countries", Obama and the birther movement... do you want me to name some more?

It is a #ING hat. It is not a political movement. It is not a statement of hate. Racism. BIgotry. Xenophobia.Homophobia. Mysogyny. This is a dumb as after football games an visiting team fan wearing a jerseys is accosted by the home team fans. An excuse to try to make a statement.
That is made up by the media, the TRUMP resistance and is espoused by folks like you.
It is a kid. It is a hat. Let's switch it up.
Let's say a kid wears a Che hat to school. Does that mean people have the right to kick his ass because the person he is supporting shot and killed 100's?

I agree with you here. Completely. If, and I say ''if'' this episode is as described, the teacher was out of line for ridiculing the ''child'' in front of the class and should have been seriously reprimanded if not docked. However, in my earlier reply I attempted to suggest that possibly this whole thing was concocted by the persecution fantasies of the father and the son. As I said, I don' t know.
Dealing with this event as a hypothetical situation to check our own morality plays, discussing them back and forth can lead to evaluations of other possible standpoints, but claiming the event as factual as presented by what is likely biased players in the event only serves to bolster ones already assumed perception of that and related type stories. You know?
And I agree as well about political trolling or expression in schools with children of that age is inappropriate. Liberal and conservative. But my over all stance on this is the simple perception that this child did not wear that hat just because it was a hat, but rather as a symbol of discontent with established norms and hence a political middle finger in the middle of an academic setting. And ''if'' the teacher was antagonized as reported he was out of line. But to say that he threatened the student when what was said was that ''that is a face I would like to punch'' though verging on a direct threat is not really that by an expression of disapproval and not the threat it was made out to be, and once again recognizing that even that is out of line for the teacher to be saying.

it has become a symbol of the conservative right.
more than just a hat
if it was just a hat people that were not on the right would be wearing it too.
theyre not
keep saying it is only a hat. that does not make it so.

No, my opinion is not wrong, rather yours is either myopic or willfully ignorant of anything other than the simplist of notions.
I am not saying that the hat is racist, it is not. And I am not saying it is transphobic, it is not. But what I am saying is that it has been turned into a symbol of all things Trumpian and hence a symbol that stands for the core of the Trump agenda. It was his campaign slogan for crying out loud and it is worn proudly by thousands of Trump voters. It was turned into a symbol not by the left but by the right. Attempting to claim that wearing that hat as only a hat is one more little ploy to promote the image of Trump people as ''victims''. Are you a victim? If not then quit whining about ''it's just a hat''.
