If Trump were to agree to that, he knows that the Democrats will never do anything in regards to sitting down and hashing out a compromise on the Wall and border security. History tells us this is true. Go look what congress did to Regean in the 80's. "Give us amnesty now and we'll work on security later." They got amnesty and abandoned their promise of working on security. They will do the same again if given the chance.

It's people both sides are using as leverage. You realize that right? Or are your partisan blinders that thick?

did trump go down on the amount he demands for his wall?
has polosi gone up??
no?? there isn't a compromise from either.
they'll add crap to it, crap that will probably extend the life of the shutdown as they try to incorporate it into the bills..
of which polosi has offered various dollar amount for border security..
but, the sticking point is the wall.. which, I have to ask..
I've heard that there is still plenty of money being held for fencing and stuff that hasn't been touched. is this true??? and if so, why hasn't it been? is it because the construction of the wall, fence, or heck, let's just call it peaches..is it being held up because of the legal aspect of land seizure.
because if so, then that 5 billion 0r whatever he wants now if better served going to other projects while the courts get through the cases they have and it's needed!!

Yes. Trump has gone from 25 billion to 5.7.
But you are correct the Democrats have offered nothing.

I have a similar opinion. I will take it further by saying we have to attack the issue from many different vantage points one obviously being border security, another being culling our nation's appetite for drugs followed by stamping out corruption within the Mexican government which allows the cartels to exist among other things.

This is precisely right. This is why he rejected that supposed $25B offer they made last year. Of course the media doesn't report that. They pretend the Democrats were willing to give him the money. In reality, all it was was a promise to give him money in the appropriations bills over the next 10 years, a promise they could easily have gone back on. Most of our left-wing members here are completely unaware of that. They've been told to think he rejected an offer that actually funded the wall, which is false.

It's almost like a dog and pony show, a soap opera. Both sides put on this show to distract us. Have we little people won anything over the last 20 years? Has the power of our government diminished at all or has it gotten stronger with more and more of our protections thrown into the dustbin of history?

Doesn't it seem like they are laughing at us, from both sides of the aisle?

The big thing that the house is offering to do is pass bills that pay the workers and families and then continue to negotiate the wall.

Mitch wont let those bills get to trumps desk though.

Details please on how each Bill presented by the House is an evolution in their offer towards reaching a compromise.

Surely you can show that, Right?

In that WH meeting Trump offered to open up the Government and Pelosi said no to any Wall funding in 30 days. No one has ever disputed that she said no.

I'll wait for you to look......

Imminent domain cases can take 10 years in the courts. trump knows this, his wall is just symbolic to keep his base riled up. Brilliant politics actually.
And the "Mexicans will pay for it" was classic.

This is the very last and best offer to the Dems they are going to get, if Ann C. is hopping mad about it you know it is, and Trump swinging to the middle as far as he can possibly go. Now if they reject it because they feel they got boxed into a loss that's on them.

In another week Trump can announce a state of emergency on 2 fronts, record length of government shut down and major issues at the southern border. Basically the Dems gave him no choice when they could have taken a great political offer.
They are total fools going for a 100% win which is never going to happen, so now they, not Trump will plunge the country into a place it should never have got to.

They own this now.

Trump set Pelosi up, cancelled her trip to make her angry, then gives her the best offer she will ever get, knowing she will know say no.

She got played hard, he as at another level, it's like a video game, a noob verses a veteran player.

1898, during the Spanish-American War, with full blessing of Congress. And Teddy was a former Assistant Secretary of the Navy. So close, but not the same as Trump calling up the III% or the Oath Keepers.

the DACA kids are not getting deported in any case. It would be a PR disaster for the right.

If that's true why would anyone be upset with the dems for not accepting a meaningless offer?

Wouldn't trump look like a fool for offering something to the dems that everyone knows they already have?

Well there was a 25 Billion offer on the table and now it's just under 6 Billion. Pelosi hasn't offered one meaningful concession at all.

Please show me her compromise offer?

That's correct. Pelosi absolutely refuses to budge.

What is the great offer supposed to be? Three years extended protection for DACA recipients? Trump is bluffing, he doesn't actually want to deport those people. He is offering something that he has to give anyway. It's no good deal.

So they want to reopen the government and then negotiate on the wall , but you just don't believe them.

Yeah I'm sure the immigrants that confronted Pelosi last year are so relieved by the predictions of some goon on AboveTopSecret.com.

They just got offered a legally binding solution and it was rejected by Nancy Pelosi. End of story.
