He caved and the right wingers are not happy. He just threw away his hard line base and the 2020 election.

What makes you think this?

Nothing actually happened to indicate that. What he wants to be true just takes precedence over what's actually happening.

He said he won't bring anything up for a vote that he knows the President isn't gonna sign. It's a waste of time. The House are passing show bills. They're actually not trying. They continue to absolutely refuse to compromise one iota. They just proved that. But, continue to be told what to think, no matter how little it's based in reality.

So the Democrat leadership doesn’t care about Americans hurt by the shutdown and they don’t care about the Dreamers legal status, seems all they care about is making Trump look bad and are failing at that because he has twice publicly appealed for ending the problem.

So why are people supporting the Democrats, to save their own face for supporting them in the past at the expense of how bad it looks to keep supporting them?

That's surely a fair point and while not quite an equal opposite, still an issue.

Neither side seems to want to address.

It's a very fair point, yes indeed. That manual labor employment is a massive draw, and they're willing to do it for far less than us natives are. Cheap labor is a big motivator for businesses.

I bet there are agricultural and construction strings throughout DC that would make this a lot clearer of a debacle if we knew who was tugging them.

The AM radio right wingers wanted a state of emergency and troops on the border.

Putting DACA on the table should have been one of the D's prime objectives if we're to believe what they had previously touted.

Now it's on the table and instantly rejected.

They rejected it last year too. Pelosi got confronted by a bunch of them over it. Latino support for border security is increasing. They're starting to realize the Democrats don't give a # about them, they're merely being used as political pawns.

Illegal immigration disproportionately hurts the black and Latino communities more than whites. If Pelosi's rich white liberal supporters were being hurt by illegal immigration, we'd have had a wall years ago.

The rhetoric of a master con artist, who's best days are behind him... He just comes across as stale and predictable.

Your bias is showing.

So, when he claimed "that some people say a wall could drop the crime rate and drug smuggling in the US by 50%"... you think he himself actually believes that?

LOL you dont think it will have any effect? man if it stops 20% it pays for itself in 3-4 years. Hell let him build it give him the funds then when it fails you can use it against him. Except the dems worry it wont fail, and he will use it as an achievement in 2020. It isnt about percentages its all political, and its playing with 800,000 furloughed fed employees on something that would likely work, if not let him do it and fail and you probably recapture the Presidency in 2020.

Nobody thinks it'll stop 100% of illegal immigration.

Well, Donald just claimed the wall could drop crime rate and illegal drug use in the US by 50%... Do you believe that?

Next step will be state of emergency actions

People keep hoping for that. A lot of people thought he was going to do it today in this speech. Were you one of those?

I don't think he will or even has the authority to declare a state of emergency in regards to a border wall not being funded.

He won't be declaring an emergency over funding. That's a fundamental misunderstanding of the issue. He does have the authority, but the Democrats will judge-shop and find a judge to put an injunction on it and it'll be tied up in court for months until the SCOTUS reaffirms what most people already know, the President has ultimate authority on what he wants to determine is a national security matter.

He actually didn't claim that. He claimed it would decrease them. He then said some people have said it could drop by up to 50%. Another "Trump called all Mexicans racists!" moment. You should get a job at BuzzFeed.

It reminds me of that episode of "Father Dowling Mysteries" where a guy tried to stage a knife attack on himself to frame another guy, but messed up and killed himself instead.

It would appear that the Democrats were trying to set up Trump, and miscalculated the attack only to end up hurting themselves instead.

It would interesting to see that strategy played out. Businesses stop hiring illegals, in turn greatly reducing that reason of immigration.

Would paint a clearer statistical picture.

They're the "smart" ones. They can't possibly have been wrong all this time. They've pretty much backed themselves into a corner. It's like all the imbeciles who still think Trump is gonna be impeached. They're simply incapable of accepting that they got duped all this time. They're so arrogant that they think it's simply not possible for them to have been so wrong.

The elite democrat establishment wanted that far more.

It isn't off the table, timing and expedience are most important now.

The democrats must be fully exposed and ruined first.

I don't think you understand what compromises is.

What it isn't is sending bills to the Senate with everything you want and nothing of what everyone else wants.

I guess he picked this time because of that Q post from last year, yeah. I'm really not sure if it would be wise to use a national emergency to build the wall. I still think the wall is more useful as a demand to make rather than if it actually gets built. Of course he does have to build it sooner or later, if they let him. Also, people already choose to forget that Mexico was supposed to pay.

It could be argued that trump used the lives of those people as a barging chip.

Should the daca people get the right to live her without being a chip in a political game?

They've been exposed to have absolutely no interest in a compromise. Keeping Trump from fulfilling a campaign promise to try to set themselves up for 2020 is more important to them than those DACA folks, let alone the humanitarian crisis at the border.

What new compromise has Pelosi been sending or talking about?

The pressure is on her to offer something to counter the President's proposal. He is at least making attempts.

Please tell me what is new and different in Pelosi's proposals that would get Trump to sign?

She can't just keep saying no with her not giving a counter offer.
