It would interesting to see that strategy played out. Businesses stop hiring illegals, in turn greatly reducing that reason of immigration.

Would paint a clearer statistical picture.

You have to wonder why this is never approached as a possibility.

It could be argued that trump used the lives of those people as a barging chip.

Should the daca people get the right to live her without being a chip in a political game?

I think that question would be better for the person who just flat-out rejected an offer to let them stay. But denial is your chosen path. That's fine, it's a free country.

Pelosi already rejected him. She's not interested in compromise. She just denied all those people their DACA and Temporary Protection extensions.

I'm pretty sure he offered every point from her website in regards to immigration.

The rhetoric of a master con artist, who's best days are behind him... He just comes across as stale and predictable.

Your bias is showing.

So, when he claimed "that some people say a wall could drop the crime rate and drug smuggling in the US by 50%"... you think he himself actually believes that?

LOL you dont think it will have any effect? man if it stops 20% it pays for itself in 3-4 years. Hell let him build it give him the funds then when it fails you can use it against him. Except the dems worry it wont fail, and he will use it as an achievement in 2020. It isnt about percentages its all political, and its playing with 800,000 furloughed fed employees on something that would likely work, if not let him do it and fail and you probably recapture the Presidency in 2020.

Nobody thinks it'll stop 100% of illegal immigration.

Well, Donald just claimed the wall could drop crime rate and illegal drug use in the US by 50%... Do you believe that?

He then said some people have said it could drop by up to 50%. .

So you admit, it was just the rhetoric of a conman, attempting to swayed public opinion?

Why else would he have even said it, when it clearly isn't true?

None of us have that right in today's political scope.

Every time the house sends a bill to the senate mitch blocks it. The house is trying.

Then they should quit sending bills that are guaranteed dead on arrival.

He caved and the right wingers are not happy. He just threw away his hard line base and the 2020 election.

What makes you think this?

The AM radio right wingers wanted a state of emergency and troops on the border.

It will end that way soon 😀🚬

What new compromise has Pelosi been sending or talking about?

The pressure is on her to offer something to counter the President's proposal. He is at least making attempts.

Please tell me what is new and different in Pelosi's proposals that would get Trump to sign?

She can't just keep saying no with her not giving a counter offer.

Her compromise is $0, as it has been all along. These people are so delusional they actually think that makes Trump the one unwilling to negotiate. They haven't been told to think $0 is unreasonable.

I admit you just tried to misrepresent a quote for your own partisan purposes and got called out for it. Don't post things you know to be patently false. I'm pretty sure that's against the T&C.

Constitutionally speaking, nothing prevents militias from forming to stand guard on the border other than the Federal government and Boarder Patrol would not like it to happen. Congress could even call for that if they wanted to do so. Trump cannot because it is not a presidential power to call forth the militia. But he can say there is a presidential pardon for anyone that would participate in such an action should they need one for legal entanglements.

A quasi-call for a militia. Then again, if he declares an emergency he can place actual troops there with impunity to secure the construction zones for the wall to be built.

Because he's a business man and the WH dances to the tune of Lobbyists and big agriculture. Cheap labor is a staple of that industry and it's not gonna change. Trump even is going to allow even more ag. workers in.

Two scenarios come to mind.

The first is that it's a small but beneficial problem to everyone involved. Everyone knows it's been going on for years.

The second is as you've already stated. Lobbyists aren't typically hardline partisan.

The House are passing show bills

Wasn't the speech trump just gave a "show speech"?
Something he knew they wouldn't go for.

They continue to absolutely refuse to compromise one iota.

The original republican lead bill had $25B in it for border security. That included money to repair existing fences and walls . That sounds like a compromise to me.
Trump refused that bill because he want's $5B for a new wall. The only point in all this that hasn't been compromised is trumps want of $5B specifically for that new wall.

Why doesn't trump compromise on that and ask for less money?

No. He offered a compromise. He gave them something they wanted. That's an undeniable fact. They rejected it. That's on them.

That goes without saying However, to actually say something about it here...would it not be a big motivator if the public at large knew precisely where all those strings connected, and who's individual feet to scorch over the proverbial open flame?

I believe that the group on the right that want this are very loud but very small.

100 miles of border wall in exchange for amnestying millions of illegals. So if we grant citizenship to a BILLION foreigners, maybe we can finally get a full border wall.

Which tells us what exactly?

It tells us that these folks, the Dems, don't really care. It's all political grandstanding.

DACA was great, as long as it helped them. Once it doesn't...DACA, what's a DACA?

...they, the Dem leadership, if that word even really applies anymore, is as much to blame for this stupidity as the GOP leadership, again, if such a word can be said to apply anymore.

2020 should be, but won't be, an absolute blood-letting--ballot boxes should be an abattoir of crushed political careers as life long politicians are suddenly unemployed.
