Hello all,

From Carl Jung's book Jung on Synchronicity and the Paranormal

The culmination of Jung's lifelong engagement with the paranormal is his theory of synchronicity, the view that the structure of reality includes a principle of acausal connection which manifests itself most conspicuously in the form of meaningful coincidences. Difficult, flawed, prone to misrepresentation, this theory none the less remains one of the most suggestive attempts yet made to bring the paranormal within the bounds of intelligibility. It has been found relevant by psychotherapists, parapsychologists, researchers of spiritual experience and a growing number of non-specialists. Indeed, Jung's writings in this area form an excellent general introduction to the whole field of the paranormal.

Meaningful coincidences. That's what I'm talking about in this little story.

So I was working at The Players Club in Wellington, FL back in 2004 during the early months of the winter mid polo season with a beautiful redhead named Mccain. She lives about 2 houses down from me and would give me a ride home at the end of the night because I didnt have a car at the time, I was only 18. It was a Friday night, and often on Friday nights the bar manager would let us have a few drinks while cleaning up the bar, I was the barback and Mccain was one of the bartenders. We made great money working at Players, I would typically take home almost $300 a night on the weekends in cash. Anyway, so this Friday night, we had both had a little too much to drink and I couldn't talk her out of driving. Irresponsible I know we we're both young, very stupid and very lucky. So typically I would just hop into the car and we would drive off no problems, the roads are basically clear in West Palm Beach this late at night (3:00AM) but not tonight.

Here's where the synchronicity happens. She would NEVER demand I put my seat belt on but for some reason that I can't explain, this night she wouldn't move until I put my seat belt on. At some point after laughing at her for a few minutes I finally put it on. Well, oddly enough that night as we were driving through a green light a car coming in the opposite direction ran through a red light and we slammed right into the side of them at 45 miles an hour. Luckily no one was hurt and for some crazy reason a police officer was sitting right there in his police car and came running over almost immediately. Here's where another moment of luck came into play for her, the officer didn't even check if she was drunk. The entire night was crazy. Also because the officer was sitting there watching the entire thing unfold he saw that we had a green light and wrote that in the police report getting us off the hook.

I couldn't believe it. I had never put on a seat belt before that night and it was something that stuck out in the back of my mind ever since that occurred and I've always wanted to share this story with people.

Anyway, it's better than a Trump or transgender thread enjoy!

Not sure that's synchronicity to be honest....not my interpretation anyway. Sounds more like your subconscious coming into play knowing she'd been drinking and you/it wanting to keep yourself safe. The policeman not charging her? pure luck

And for that alone you get S&F. Thanks for the story, but I'm also not sure it qualifies as synchronicity. But perhaps it convinced you to use a seat belt from then on.

Where the synchronicity? I must've missed something here.

I thought to myself "don't lock your keys in the car," only to lock my keys in my car 5 minutes later. Not really synchronicity either.

Coincedencenessosity

I think of synchronicity more like... you say to your friend " let's go outside" at the same exact time someone on a tv show you're watching says " let's go outside".

Either way cool story.

Synchronicity is more like this......being off sick from a job you totally hate slightly guilt ridden because you're not really ill...thinking each day just how you can hand in your notice and quit without having to face the truly dreadful boss with shockingly bad body odour who thinks he's gorgeous.....you pluck up courage to ring work....you pick up the phone to find strangely that there's already someone on the line before you've dialled....and its the dreaded boss who promptly tells you not to bother coming back to work. You're both relieved and worried...how to pay the bills etc....you daydream about how you've always wanted to work from home and do crafty things but never could and never really taken it any further. Its all you can think about for a while...you dream and plan and envision how it would be and how enjoyable it would be...at the end of the week you start to think you'd best get cracking on finding a new job....you get a call from your mother asking if you've any need for thousands of pounds worth of various crafting items...everything from card making to glass painting to t shirt printing..she says if you like you can sell it on ebay or something since you've no job, mother tells you that a woman who is on the same committee gave it to the association they both chair and no-one has any use for it but there's too much good stuff to just dump. You say words to the effect omg you gotta be joking (saying a little thank you to the universe)! What's the woman's name so you can send her a thank you note.....the woman turns out to be the wife of the disgusting boss who had just fired you

All those crafting materials started my little home business and I escaped my dull law career of 25yrs for good.

Now that's synchronicity

acausal connection which manifests itself most conspicuously in the form of meaningful coincidences

From the OP. I realized the differences in philosophy around this which is why I included the part with the introduction to Jung's book.

Reminds me of the time I was driving my fiancee's and my, used but new, Z28 back to San Diego after a trip to Hollywood in 1990.

He drove the car there and all around LA. Our final stop was at some comedy club. We left the show late at night. Neither of us drank on the trip but i felt an urgency to drive even though it was so late. Both of us were AD military at the time. Traffic was light on the freeway heading back to SD. The freeways are massive with lanes upon lanes of traffic going in the same direction. I had been driving for a long while in silence and glanced over at him. He was sound asleep in the passenger seat with the seat fully reclined and no seat belt. I immediately woke him up and told him to put on his belt. Still half asleep, he buckled himself in. He raised his seat up a little but it was still reclined, and fell back asleep. I was driving in a far left lane and within what felt like 10 or so minutes after he fell back asleep, I saw a car stopped sideways on the last farthest left lane. I slowed down and changed over to the right lane, then the next right lane. There were lanes between us, then just as I was about to pass, the car bolted forward and smashed into us. We spun and spun. I will never forget the horrible metal sound and smell. The 3 day old new butbused car, was totalled.

We both stumbled out and went to the car that hit us. We opened a door and beer cans tumbled out and we could see a man in there groaning, but he was alive. An ambulance came and we were all taken to the ER. I had 33 stitches across the crease of my upper eye. He lost his front teeth and split his toungue. Our bodies were bruised but the belts held us in. The T-top on the roof gone; the belts kept us from projectiling out of the car. Glory was to them, not God as it should have been. The hospital staff ran tests to see if we had taken drugs or drank. We hadn't. Told them so but they didn't believe us. Ran them anyway. We didn't resist, we were young and obidient to our elders. We were cleared.

A month and a half later we were married. Him with fake temporary teeth and my gash almost invisible. Months later we finally had our day in court. The man who hit us was from Mexico and didn't have insurance. We were told we couldn't sue him to compensate for damages because he wasn't an American Citizen. The car insurance we had was a temporary type of insurance the used car dealership gave us. We lost money. The man walked past us in the court room hall, for some reason we were not allowed in the court room with him, and didn't offer apology. Hell, he didn't even look at us.

Years later the insurance industry boomed. Glory be to God, but glory was to the industry. Now the insurance industry has become a monster as most people are aware it has become. That wasn't the true intention. It was for people who were, or desired to become, U.S. citizens who were caught in unfortunate events by other people who made bad choices, in order to compensate them because most who effect others with their bad choices refuse to be sympathetic and offer to make it up to them outside of court much less feel whole heartedly sorry for what their bad choices caused others. Mexican, African, European, Indian, Asian and Americans are all guilty as pride and ignorance infect all human ethnicities.

The synchronicity is clear here in many ways:

The current one is Trump who is savior like with his understanding on issues at hand and antichrist like with his pride and ignorance in knowing God is love snd teaching to emulate that truth. The two just don't mesh. It almost works but fails. Like the concept of auto insurance. Like the concept of saving someone's life, even numerous times, then the person's life you had saved, later destroys yours. We were divorced in 2006.

But God being love builds. He tears down to build and restore. But those with new eyes and ears will only be aware of this and that is sycronicities are blessings from God.

I'd like to know why after several "synchronicities" I've had, they either didn't catch up with the facts they supposedly pointed to, or if they ever were supposed to, the lag would be so out of proportion that it would make gaming while using ole fashioned 56k dialup connections look good.
