If they are to be used as the word of god, shouldnt god be proven real first?

THen shouldnt all the conspiracy theories be in the grey area since they are yet to be proven? Hence it would be conspiracy FACT ...?

ooohhh...

SLAM!!!!

I agree but my point is not to use ATS as a pulpit but rather a discussion platform.

Just wondering if walls of text from other religious books such as the Quran would be tolerated.

That's true, but not one of them contains the word christianity...he he...or pulpit...

I personally like them, but it has been a small furry bugbear of mine...some of the discussions do serve the purpose of clearing the opinions in mind about posters, and I like that...but, like OP says, the verse quoting can get ultra tedious...

I find that there are just as many people that use ATS to proselytize their "new age" theories as I do the traditional religions.

What's the difference between a bible thumper and someone that babels-on about conciseness? Not much.

They believe with absolutely no proof.

I may disagree with them, but I welcome their input.

Just wanted to add my two cents in here.

If one were to have a look through the Forum Index, one would quickly see that ATS isn't just a conspiracy website.

While there is a plethora of conspiracy forums, there are also Breaking News forums, Political forums, Current Event forums, Science and Technology forums, Off-topic Chit-chat forums, as well as the religious forums.

There are forums for just about any kind of discussion, aside from conspiracies.

Then I want my Pets/Animals Forum!

See my sig.

Nope,

Any topic with walls of text is equally frustrating.

Thats actually a valid point, I suppose anything could be considered someones religion depending what kind of belief they put behind it, and time

Religion is the biggest top secret conspiracy of them all - a cosmic conspiracy about control, submission, non-human entities, unidentified flying objects, magic, sex, government, laws, death, immortality, deception, evil, miracles, corruption, subterfuge and all things existing not on/in this world.

a thread with nothing but bible verses is not original nor thought out. I once posted a thread on the ark looking for discussion and soon enough it was flooded with bible verse without the discussion I was looking for.

Yes I know what you mean. The walls of text versus drowning out any competent conversation to be had. More than a few good threads have died by that hand.

When they are religious threads to start of with I couldn't care less I usually move on from those an let them have at it. Only when the invaded science or historic discovery threads start with the babble do I get annoyed.

I have started to make it a habit when anyone replies to me with the wall of verses to something I actually wrote with thought I let them know they may as well stop because I don't bother to read them and have become quite adept at skimming over to figure out what was original and what was copy pasted.

Otherwise getting them to actually explain what they are refering to can be fun in its own right. Often times other religionists will then jump in to tell them how wrong they are with their interpretations. It is quite a site because they can't even agree 9 out of 10 times on what their scripture says/means. Which makes me think they have to know if they can't even agree they certainly will not find converts here.

Oh well....fun rant.

I am addressing the religious posters here.

Why keep posting on a conspiracy site? You MUST see the irony here. The only reason I can see is that you are attempting to accomplish what so many door knockers are trying to do...convert. Here's a hint...you can't.

We come here to learn truth, not your version of truth but rather overall truth. Your belief doesn't work for us. In fact, the more you keep posting threads with text walls of bible verse the more you alienate. This is NOT your platform. You have your sites to share, discuss etc. If you want to contribute why not do just that instead of preaching from the pulpit? We have no problem with different opinions (mostly).

If your goal is to seek converts ( which it is) this is not the way to go about it. In fact, you are gaining a lot of haters, impatience, mistrust, frustration. Those that are not of your belief do not seek out your corners of the net with intentions of invading your posts or creating threads of controversy so why are you doing it here? Why are so many of you creating threads with simple bible quotes and nothing else? Fishing is my belief. Hoping to grab one.

I have no idea why ATS allows this but you just keep posting not only in your threads but in ours which have nothing to do with your beliefs. Perhaps ATS realizes that religion is naught but a conspiracy in and of itself?

If you are truly believers in your doctrine you must know that the more you push, the more you create an opposite and equal reaction. We push back.

I for one do not begrudge your faith. In fact I truly wish I could have such comfort in the mind set. Most likely, many others are of the same stance. But your pushing, invading, arrogance will not accomplish anything but controversy and alienation on a conspiracy...fact finding, denial of ignorance platform.

I wish you the best and in my heart I am so glad you have found what we all seek...peace. But in the end, we will all seek what gives us our personal peace without being forced.

Respectfully,

Jude11

Amen! errr, Amun-Ra!

I've been so turned off by the seeming constant religious posts in the 'new' listings that I've been avoiding the whole freekin' site. To me, this place is about discussion of current events, the unknown and lots of nifty scientific anomalies and discoveries, but the religious discussions, especially the wall of bible-babel quotes are just humoring the slightly (or more so) insane and delusional.

It feels intrusive, like someone next door playing loud music after hours. 'Look at me, look at me, look at me!'

If you want to discuss religion, please tell us why your god didn't seem to know anything more than the peasants of the day 2000 years ago knew, or why not discuss some handy knowledge of, say, germ theory, or the table of elements, or even something simple like how it was that birds flew? Why did your god not include plans for designing a telescope and a microscope, in order to show us the glory of his diverse creations? Hmmm?

Please explain why I should 'believe' (a strange concept really) in YOUR god, rather than the several hundred gods that have come before, most of whom were a lot nicer, personality-wise, and most never threatened me with eternal damnation (gee, thanks!) for not believing in him, or worse, kowtowing to a golden cow...

But otherwise, you just give me something akin to intellectual target practice. After decades of being nice and polite whenever religion came up, and smiling blandly at the irrationality of it all, and wondering at the absolute brainwashing that the human mind was often incapable of recovering from (it's as if most of the world still believed in Santa Claus after the age of eight...), I now consider it my task before I die to point out not only the irrationality of all religions, but the great harm they have done over history.

Religious people have a lot of 'splainin to do, and a lot of horrors to answer for. In short, you think you're being fine upstanding citizens, whilst you advocate for a deeply flawed and dangerous thought process that frequently descends into violent madness.

Hehe. Sometimes a thread that simply states "The Bible says you're a fool! Now repent or else!", can be refreshing compared to a tome full of gobblygook that turns your brain to mush while, trying to prove to you that the Bible is right when it says "You're a fool!"

I've nothing to add to this amazing thread, except, I agree 100%. And I love lamp.

i don't often quote the bible, but when i do i quote:

Ezekiel 23:11-21New International Version (NIV)
11 “Her sister Oholibah saw this, yet in her lust and prostitution she was more depraved than her sister. 12 She too lusted after the Assyrians—governors and commanders, warriors in full dress, mounted horsemen, all handsome young men. 13 I saw that she too defiled herself; both of them went the same way.

14 “But she carried her prostitution still further. She saw men portrayed on a wall, figures of Chaldeans[a] portrayed in red, 15 with belts around their waists and flowing turbans on their heads; all of them looked like Babylonian chariot officers, natives of Chaldea. 16 As soon as she saw them, she lusted after them and sent messengers to them in Chaldea.17 Then the Babylonians came to her, to the bed of love, and in their lust they defiled her. After she had been defiled by them, she turned away from them in disgust. 18 When she carried on her prostitution openly and exposed her naked body, I turned away from her in disgust, just as I had turned away from her sister. 19 Yet she became more and more promiscuous as she recalled the days of her youth, when she was a prostitute in Egypt.20 There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses. 21 So you longed for the lewdness of your youth, when in Egypt your bosom was caressed and your young breasts fondled.[c]

or maybe this one:

Jeremiah 10:1-10King James Version (KJV)

10 Hear ye the word which the Lord speaketh unto you, O house of Israel:

2 Thus saith the Lord, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.

3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.

4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.

5 They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.

6 Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O Lord; thou art great, and thy name is great in might.

7 Who would not fear thee, O King of nations? for to thee doth it appertain: forasmuch as among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their kingdoms, there is none like unto thee.

8 But they are altogether brutish and foolish: the stock is a doctrine of vanities.

9 Silver spread into plates is brought from Tarshish, and gold from Uphaz, the work of the workman, and of the hands of the founder: blue and purple is their clothing: they are all the work of cunning men.

10 But the Lord is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting king: at his wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to abide his indignation.

My MY thats a large brush youre painting with there sir, where did you buy such a megalithic painting instrument!

When people speakin such broad terms about those who might be religious, it really makes them no more tolerant then those they advocate against....

As SHEEPSLAYER but it so eloquently earlier in the thread, Many things can be viewed as a religion, and many people use those ideas to brow beat others.....
