This is the pro thread to the anti thread.

In the anti-thread imploring people not to have thread battles with opposing titles I felt a certain limiting factor involved. Even a certain negativity per say, for in life there must always be polar opposites.

There are pro’s there are cons.

Have we really looked at all the pro’s and cons regarding this issue of thread versus anti-thread?

Maybe you don’t want to weigh in the thread, but the anti-thread really appeals to you.

Now you too have an opportunity to share.

Some people are middle of the road of course; in fact most of us are constantly caught between the polar opposites.

Start the thread wars, stop the thread wars, but there are going to be those people who are much going to prefer a thread entitled “Thread Wars, sometimes good, sometimes bad”.

Remember in life to everything there must be an opposite and well that’s what thread wars are all about!

If you are for thread wars, this is your thread. If you are against thread wars, there is already a thread on that!

Sorry everyone I couldn’t resist!

I must admit that long ago I created a thread to oppose a thread. In retrospect I could have just posted my take on the matter within the thread that was created that I opposed but that wouldn't have been too much fun. Some people just simply will not believe what I know to be true because I believe it. Can you believe the nerve of them? I welcome a multitude of angles to consider so let the thread wars rage.

And no doubt someone would have whined and cried that you were trying to derail THEIR 'pro' thread if you had. Just keep in mind there's just no satisfying or compromising with some people.

We must never loose sight of the order out of chaos principle, and the divide and conquer strategy employed in thread versus anti-thread.

Sure every beauty pageant contestant in the world asks for peace on earth, but we know some of them won’t let The Donald have any peace!

The truth is some of the threads versus anti-threads are kind of cute! Well in a dysfunctional can’t ever let anything go, sulk, pout and stamp your feet kind of cute way.

Hey you know what I say, why take a chance on loosing a debate when you can just preach to the choir?

Location, location, location, it’s the number one in real estate and well advertising and marketing is everything.

With a precise enough thread or anti-thread title you are bound to attract the choir you are looking to preach too!

It’s like shooting fish in a barrel!

Actually shooting fish in a barrel is not that easy! Who ever came up with that one likely didn’t try it first.

I think the point of the anti battle thread was to try and keep both pros and cons in the same thread, and not separate them.

To be honest, it does seem a trifle silly to keep hopping between threads to get a point across. Surely once a debate on a particular subject has started, it would make sense to keep said debate in one thread??

Just my humble, and possibly meaningless opinion.

As dumb as the battle threads are, debating "religion" is the root cause and remains even more pointless than anything else.

It's a battle of perceptions, ground is never gained that isn't later lost leaving everyone involved where they started after having wasted an inordinate amount of time.

Battle threads are one of the reasons I do so love this site. It's part of why ATS is simultaneously one of the most, and least, honest sites on the net. It makes this home. ATS is an oasis of speculation in a sea of self-satisfied "certainty." I adore thread battles. They are entertainment and spectacle. They are the heart of why we are here at this site. OP is so right. Continue the thread battles. Never let them stop.

The Thread versus Anti-Thread paradigm when it relates to a real topic (this thread is meant to be pure parody) is really nothing but two diametrically opposed groups who will look for reasons to oppose each other bitterly in relation to their differences, rather than coexist harmoniously based on their similarities.

The hysterical thing is in 99 out of a 100 cases people chare more similarities with the opposing group’s members than they do dissimilarities.

It’s very much like Democrats and Republicans. They are both 100% right all the time in their own minds.

For some reason we have a tendency as human beings to want to quantify, qualify and categorize others who do have differences by labeling them and then insisting that they are part of a rigid modality we will then judge them by, whether they are actually like that or not.

It is always a two sided coin with some people, in fact with most people.

Rome offers you war or peace it matters not which to Rome you decide.

For some reason confrontation for the pure sake of confrontation remains intensely popular with people.

I think it stems from an inherent need to convince one’s self of one’s own beliefs by trying to convince others to accept them too, one way or another, even at all costs.

Getting people to look in the mirror and slow down and take a good look is not an easy thing to do.

If having a Thread and Anti-Thread about not having thread versus anti-thread battles doesn’t get people to ponder the insanity of their deeply entrenched positions, well likely nothing will!

Thanks for posting.

You are a very wise person my friend, and your thoughtful and level headed responses on those thread were exceptional and poignant. I starred them all by the way.

We have been seeing a bit of this going on most often with the Christians versus Gays, Gays versus Christians, Christians versus Atheists, and Atheists versus Christians.

You would think there wasn’t enough room on the planet for everyone just too happily be who they are and accept the fact that others are happily who they are, but evidently a lot of people feel differently.

I sometimes think most people think life has a reset button. That they will somehow get to live it all one way and then go back at some late, eleventh hour and get to do all the things and be all the things they denied themselves the whole way through.

People really ought to learn to live and let live.

Of course Paul McCartney and Wings would weigh in even in the same song with “Live and Let Die!”

Problem is, often insane people believe everyone else is insane and only they are the sane ones.

As long as ATS is a forum, we will see the unbridled creation of all manner of threads. Lots of folks, lots of brain farts. Simple math.

I have been wondering what a format combining the forum with a blog would look? Like, at the bottom of your post window you can select to send a post to your ATS blog or something? Tie in the media center by allowing you to post video's and images in your blog, just like a thread. You could likely use the same framework that the forums use, modified slightly to allow it to be more like a running list of posts that have been "sent" to the users blog based on either his choice, or a star count thresh hold (in keeping with the "user generated content" spirit of ATS).

I have some favorite posters here, and often their work is truly authored (not just thrown together). Having a place that a poster can chronicle their work would tie in well with the ATS user, and might help promote ATS as not only a "news" site, but a site of all manner of worthy reading. And allowing users to post them to that posters blog by providing positive response via the Star system might help drive quality content as well.

And just think how it might improve the post quality here?

I sure am not one of them, in fact I am such a sick puppy everytime I look at the board and see the Thread and the Anti-Thread about having or not having Thread versus Anti-Thread battles I can't help but laugh out loud!

The things that keep my twisted mind amused!

It really is insane though when you get right down to it, that people really imagine someone is going to stop being gay or straight, an athiest or a Christian just because somebody read them the riot act in cyber space!

To think I thought I was bored!

Do I have too, I read what you wrote.

Can we have a forget it thread versus a remember thread?

Please, please, pretty please?

There's no doubt about that there.

We're all a bit crazy though, it all comes down to perceptions again, like you pointed out. democrats and republics are both right all the time in their own minds.

That would be great if the title of the thread were neutral, but what happens when someone like me wanders into a "I love socialism" thread and starts participating? WAR breaks out! And again, who want's their 'pro' or 'anti' whatever thread derailed by the opposing folks? This would be like a bunch of christians charging into the middle of a jewish worship service and started singing songs about jebus.

Well one this if for sure my Furry Texas friend you sure do find your way to some of the best conspiracy threads on this site and always bring a lot of depth of knowledge and a very open mind to them.

The truth is though some people really just want to argue about the divide and conquer issues they are most passionate about.

Some of us are here to teach and learn, while others are really just out to validate their world view by arguing it with others.

The latter really kind of defeats the purpose of ATS in my humble opinion, but as long as ATS has great conspiracy minded intellects like yours, looking to explore the alternative realities that underlay and overlap the normal left right paradigm issues, ATS will remain a quality place for doing just that.

It’s kind of nice I guess in a way they provide us some side stage entertainment too in thread versus anti-thread battles.

That really is the problem in that just about everyone’s belief system is a self contained belief system that they really imagine has no error in it or room for improvement.

Believe it or not one of my favorite things to say in real time, real world, face to face arguments and disagreements is “I will take 99% of the responsibility and 99% of the blame, if you will at least take 1% of the responsibility and 1% of the blame since it does take two to tango, and two to disagree or agree”.

You know how hard it is to get anyone to take that lousy 1% and get them to accept just the slightest possibility they might be somewhat errant or incorrect in their position and actions?

Of course the great thing about our world of opposites that most such people never stop to ponder is “Nobody is Right, when everyone is wrong”.

Since each side feels the other is 100% wrong, that does end up making nobody right!

How timely for me!

I just left a thread after being accosted by someone.

Being brand new, I felt like I'd been caught smoking in church.

I let them know that I had only chosen that thread because I was less frightened by the title.

Still red from the shame of my faux pas, I hid in here.
