Upcoming game/contest/prediction possibility...

Within the next couple of months, we're going to have a "roll-over" in thread numbers -- going from the six digit "thread999999" to the seven digit "thread1000000". While I presume that Skeptic has done some testing to make sure that such a milestone doesn't break the system, it might be fun to have some sort of event associated with that 1,000,000th thread.

My prediction is that Beezzer will somehow be involved

It'll be more than a couple of months, probably just a little over 200 days.

There are app. 980,000 threads now, and a nice round number of average threads being created a day of 100. So ATS has lots of time to create some kind of event for the One Millionth thread.

And as it gets real close I can imagine lots of people creating threads just to enter the game of writing the millionth. So that last couple of days may have hundreds of threads being created.

So a question: are threads which end up in the trash bin counted as threads?

It's just an index number -- this thread is number 993,858, as you can see in the URL. I say "a couple of months" because I commented to SemperFortis on an episode of the Reality Remix show a few weeks ago on whether it might be an issue or not, and at that time, it was in the 991,000 range. There are a lot more threads created than one realizes, including private ones that most people don't see (when you file a complaint about a post, for example, it creates a thread in a moderators-only forum.)

Oh, I was going by the number on the forum page which, on one hand, may be the official number. So there may actually be two one-millionth threads, one counting the admin and other threads, and the other the "official" one used on the stats page and on the forum page.

From the ATS statistics page a few seconds ago:
