1/ Socio economicaly speaking, a post apocalyptic scenario is not going to happen.

2/ if it happen, it may ,in 100-150 years, you may already be dead at that time.

3/ stop fantasizing about post-apocalyptic scenariis, seriously,i doubt you ll survive in a similar situation.

Good thing nothing like tbat will ever happen. We are the government silly. They work for us and so far in every disaster they've been on the,side of the citizens ( Katrina not withstanding local govt was on site) I really wish we could just put a stop to the idiotic doom porn on this site. It would be truth 2000 years ago, but not in this age. Where every area is populated. Physical strength and knowledge is the ost important factor in this age of time

In my opinion, the lone survivor will perish. One bad ankle sprain could put you in a very desperate situation. Also, let's say you are one, possibly two...I am twenty, what are your chances if all skills are the same.

That said, I believe in S.I.N. (Safety In Numbers). Small groups will become larger and, eventually, reestablish society. Larger groups can take over abandoned farms, grow food and barter for needed items. You, on the other hand, will be constantly on the run, hunting and gathering. Sounds like a survivalist dream until you slip and break a bone, doesn't really matter which bone, any will suffice to end your life.

Adult black bears can still climb a suitably sturdy tree, although they may be deterred by the prospect, it is no guarantee. An adult grizzly (probably) cannot, but they are remarkably good at knocking trees over, and they are generally more tenacious than a black bear. A hungry bobcat is not that easy to scare off once they have something in their claws, and chances are you won't even see it coming and going if he has a mind to come and go.

As an aside, I agree that the OP has an obvious disdain for women that distorts his world view, but he has a point about SOME of the wealthy having an edge. That is only if they have the foresight to put the resources into survival before a SHTF scenario occurs. Many, will not however.

I am going to give you a star AND a flag; not because of your thread content, or views, but because this is one of the most humorous and entertaining threads I have ever come across.

It doesn't matter if you have a house full of foods/water/weapons it can be easily taken away. Like for example, they can easily set your house on fire if they know you have food or if there is somthing valuable in your house like food/weapons.

this house is an intentional house.. that is 85% sustainable right now... but there are plans already made for a potable water well that uses a moveable hand pump, so the people will not see a solar powered well pump....

the place is to the casual observer a mildly run-down house for undercapitalised folks...
all the neighbors have riding mowers, we use a 20" push mower, there is no swimming pool but there is a working compost pile in the side yard... there are many eyeballs who visit here and have the impression the interior is a fixer-upper that is doubling as a pet shelter..
all-in all the impression is that there is no valuable survival chache here....
there is presently 3 generations of family under this roof
we prefer to hide in plain sight which is the exact opposite of your model...

we will see just what model provides the best sustainable conditions.... strapping to a tree to sleep, camping under a overpass along with the cars full of dopers...i expect the woods to be full of losers & poachers

Have you ever heard of the Bielski brothers who, during the round up of Jews, escaped into the woods and survived there with 1200 people? They even build a hospital, ran a school and held off the Nazis attacking them.

Oh, and as an older female, I scoff at your assessment of my chances for survival. Youth and strength is not always the advantage everyone thinks it is. There are tales of ships being sunk (during war times) in which the older guys with their stronger will and "can do" mental attitude survived while their younger, more physically fit shipmates just gave up and drowned.

When people first crawled down from their trees they realized that there was strength in numbers and in cooperation. Let's move forward, not backwards.

It's truth the females can survive of the land just like males. But the problem is they cannot protect without weapons since they're physically inferior. Did you ever watch the program in discovery channel where a guy and a female try to survive together?
The females is pretty much useless and just being annoying. The men did almost all the work.

Without going into too many details.

I personally know a few females who could run circles around many Males in a survival scenario. They either have great woodland survival skills and or know firearms, I'm sorry but using that one 'Made for TV' show as an example does not mean there aren't females who are more than capable of taking care of themselves and others.

The truth however imho is that the vast majority of the 'Modern" world would perish though. The more we have become 'Civilized" the less 'Survival skills' we have learned or retained.

Well, the young males in my family love my cooking. They also know that I grow herbs and know how to use them. They treat me with great respect because anything is worth eating Mom's cooking.

Initially loners both good and bad will slip through and make it for awhile. Of course every one has the same idea so as you're scrabbling over that last squirrel carcass in a woodland stripped bare by your peers who will soon eat you too. Our group will be bringing in its first harvest.

I believe there will be a big die off consisting of the unable to cope, the dependent, the no useful skills and the uncontrollably violent people.

Then groups will form both good and bad - strength in numbers will become paramount. The roving bands of the bad will have the impediment of being predictable in their goals making their downfall inevitable.
