... and in India it is rude to interact with people or things with your left hand... it suggests that you are wiping your butt...

Actually, it suggests that you think so little of the person that you are interacting with that you would offer the hand that you use to wipe your butt, in a land where toilet paper is not (or seldom, at least) used. (Let's not get into the whole bidet argument here).

lol... sorry for paraphrasing and adding my own unique interpretation... ;-j

You are completely correct, and thanks for taking the time to better describe the concept than my awfully flippant remark.

The point is still the same though, trying to contextualise one viewpoint within another (often unrelated) viewpoint can lead to gross misinterpretations of an event/attitude/situation. Doing this purposefully, while having an understanding of all context easily leads to conflict. An idea may very well be valid, but pushing a controversial idea with interpretation rather than fact is disingenuous.

ETA: In a sense, it is good to present controversial ideas as it develops awareness, the trick is managing the conflict to a resolution. Hard-line attitudes "sticking to your guns" make synthesising a resolution more difficult.

Well, yeah they all do it some of the time. Just not all of the time like Obama, Santiago even said this himself. The AP knows what they are used to. Did you read the Santiago transcript I posted a page back? I saved a copy for a future, I told ya so thread for when folks here finally wake up.

I don't really see the picture of him with his for on the desk as disrespectful as it is just plain odd. Posed propaganda or not, who stands that way? Dude is odd.

If you try to contextualize one sociological viewpoint with another, often misinterpretations and insults can be perceived... even if they're not actually there.

I've thrown a shoe because it was the only thing to throw at the time... I wasn't thinking of heinous insult at the time... I was thinking of hitting something with an object... it happened to be a shoe.

Perspective and context are key.

You may be right about a lot of things... but be careful when applying your particular viewpoint without trying to take into account everyone else's viewpoint... it is easy to pick and choose to paint whatever story you want.

With a little reworking of almost the exact same content you posted, a couple words here, an arbitrary linking there, and your post could suggest the complete opposite.

Well, I base my assessment on the massive Muslim butt kissing Barack did, his Muslim faith and the fact that he's aiming at an American Icon, the Presidential desk, and has his foot on it... I think my assessment is pretty logical, but you are entitled to your viewpoint.

EVERY President has put his feet up on that desk.

If you want to complain, keep it to stuff that matters.

And as this post shows BUSH WMDs the last guy didn't exactly exude respect either...

More photo evidence of Obama single-handedly shooting down liberty--of course liberty which was cropped out for propaganda purposes...

I'm not an Ist, or part of the Ism. I'm not a Dem, nor a Rep (even though I'm registered as a Rep). I'm a guy that believes that there is right and wrong. Most people are inherently good and choose to do good things: find a purse or wallet and get it back to that worried person that lost it. First: Do no harm. An oath taken by healers of all nations. What is the oath taken by lawyers? and why the hell are they in charge of anything when this world needs healing?
I live in a pipe dream, I know, but when the # hits the fan....I got my neighbor's back. And he's not a lawyer.

But Bush was funny.

It still makes me laugh.

Yeah, it's real funny when the so-called Leader of the Free World, who has nuclear codes at his command, makes jokes that would get a third rate standup comedian pulled off the stage.

Bush II was responsible for the deaths of over a million people. Did you find Stalin hilarious? Hitler a hoot?

So Obama isn't as photogenic as he would like people to believe, and he's vain and self-conscious about it. He has to be filmed and photographed from a semi-profile perspective, preferably his left it seems, so that no one notices that from straight on he looks a lot like Alfred E. Newman.

Big ass ears! All he needs is a gold tooth in the front.

I'm glad I came across this reply again. Yours is one of the FUNNIEST comments I can recall on ATS. Blunt, true, hammers the nail in. -Cheers!!

Now that you brought this thread up again, I can now say this to the non believers... "I told you so". I said that I would come back and do this. Yes, I was right.

I spread this info thicker than manure around the web. I think my link at The Hill may have set something off. And guess what? Even though the MSM initially ignored this, the press hammered Carney over this. (In case you missed this.) In the end, Carney could not deny just what has been happening. Wonder if this is the reason he is leaving? Anyways, I think a lone person can make a difference.

Video compliments of the Huff Post.

When people have to have portraits of Obama hanging in the classroom or their living room and there are huge statues or billboards of him then I'll start to be concerned. I think you're wildly exaggerating and being hysterical.

You mean like this picture right here? Does this count as huge? This picture gives me the chills something fierce.

Just for the benefit of people on ATS that are interested in actual news, is it possible for you to start your threads with something like, oh, I don't know, maybe "I'm so desparate to show how much I hate Obama that I found another meaningless article that I will now use to attempt to mislead you into what its worth actually is, or if you are an Obama hater like me, give you something else to get pumped up about". That way the rest of us should know that there's nothing to see.

Perhaps there is something more in my intentions.... The truth. Plain and simple.... And Obama comes up short in this department.

If you can look over my evidence in this thread and not see what Obama has been doing with the press, then I pity your narrow views on life. The press sees it, heck even Carney sees it. He knows he was a sell out. So hopefully a good conscience is what is making him get out of dodge. Honestly it looks like that poor man is ready to crack from slinging so much bull.

Ps. Now where did you get the idea that I despise Obama! Lol....

I'm really not sure why you despise Obama, I wouldn't like to guess. What you call my narrow view is perhaps mirrored in the fact that for example you have provided a link in your OP to a piece that is clearly anti Obama (usually editorials that are non biased don't refer to their target as a 'control freak').

This gives no balance and is certainly more narrow than any position I personally would take.

I would be happy if staged photos were the worst of it.
The damage done to our country is staggering and I won't lay all the blame on Obama, Bush started the ball rolling downhill in the first place.
Many of the policies implemented may resemble communism but what's important is who is in control - we have no politburo but instead are controlled by the MIC and corporate lobbyists who dictate both foreign and domestic policy.
I immediately thought of the mandatory "papa joe" pictures in every Russian classroom when I read the opening paragraph.
