are you forgetting that some women actually enjoy having sex and being filmed doing and for money to boot !
there are those who are sexually very open minded and enjoy being dominated or simulating abuse in sex and any other imaginable fetish !

the point im making is there are no real victims in porn they do so willingly and enjoy it at the same time !

it may be degrading to you but thats your personal opinion !

if you were open minded you would find that alot , and I mean alot of women love porn!

I only watched porn once many years ago, it made me feel extremely uncomfortable even explicit sex scene in a movie does, there ya are sitting with the family and sudden the need for a sex scene when one really isn't necessary, it can be a love scene but leave something to the imagination.

This is personal choice though, isn't it? Why do you assume that the way you think is perfect and everyone else is wrong, so much so that you support the removal of freedom of choice?

How can we transfer this to other examples? How about the use of drugs in media? Should this also be banned across the country because it makes YOU feel uncomfortable? How about the art of storytelling? Why do you get to decide what is creative and valid and what isn't?

I might find the use of animals by the artist Damian Hurst to be cliche or unnecessary, but does this mean I should support a ban on his art across the nation?

Sex is sacred, sex is beautiful with a person you are deeply in love with. Sex is possibly the most sacred act between a couple the time the two become one. At this point it is not entertainment.

Marriage is a sacred act joining two people in a commitment ceremony, so lets ban the depiction of it across all national media.
The birth of a child is sacred, so lets burn all biology books and destroy all footage of that event. Lets remove it entirely from public view.

There are thousands of works of art across the world depicting the sexual union of Humans, so lets fire up those furnaces and burn it all because it "degrades" the private and sacred act of love making.

And lets not forget that not everyone on the planet enjoys the same sexual activities that you do, and why should they? Sex doesn't have to JUST be about "sacred joining of two people" (blah blah blah) it can actually JUST be FUN!

No.

And someone can't have that because porn exists?

No, porn is like making a sandwich when you could have been playing cards, or rock climbing, or listing famous male actors of the last ten years alphabetically. Porn is like reading a novel when you could be counting your toes, or watching butterflies, or stroking a puppy.

You're making nonsense comparisons.

I don't know whether you're just playing a role of "Pagan feminist" or whether you really are surrounded by cats, flagrance candles and tie-dyed fabric. But whatever the deal is, you're very confused when it comes to sexuality, and you're very narrow minded and almost Victorian in your presentation of your beliefs. As a pagan myself, I'm quite surprised by your seemingly prudish attitude, most pagan's are quite forward thinking about sexuality and the natural impulses we have.

Porn as I recall it long ago consisted of grubby little books and pictures you'd be shown by friends out behind the shed and it was all fairly innocent then. What we have now has been ramped up to unheard of levels of depravity though with the various purveyors of it attempting to outdo each other to make money off it.

Yes it's been around since the dawn of humans and it will never ever be stamped out but the current types of bestiality and under-age child abuse (yes it is abuse, illegal and harsh punishments apply in many civilized countries) go far beyond what the average person could consider excessive. It'll never be stamped out because there are too many places in the world such sites can be operated without interference but at least some leaders are taking some action (fruitless as it may be).

This proposed blanket ban and the ability to allow access by specific request will perhaps make it a lot easier for online paedophile groups to be tracked down and monitored but, then again, it's just going to force them further underground.

Wet dreams should also be made illegal and while we are at it, ban sexy dreams that cause wet dreams.

It leads to a life of ruin and lust for pornography.

For those that do not watch older age groups in their porn as they them selves get older, this should be avoided, as it ends in pedophilia in 100% of cases. And its yet again porns fault.

There may be some sarcasm in this post.

As long as all politicians have to publicly reveal whether they have these filters activated AND make all of their web searches public i think i might change my mind and be in favour of this new opt into porn system.

Virgin media and Sky are being as resistant as possible to this so i have to say fair play to them

The Virgin media method will be basically be no different to how it is now and you still have to actively enable them as an existing customer. New customers just untick a pre ticked box.

Sky are doing virtually the same thing.

You are a true master bates. I fully agree with your first paragraph.

I I think i would sooner change provider than have to actively enable an " i am over 18" internet connection, which then begs the question: just who can order an internet connection is there even an age limit?

Could a 12 year old boy ring up and get a connection setup/changed? Because if they can, this whole thing is utterly pointless.

I'm going to guess the average 12 year old boy won't need to ring up anyone or deactivate anything to find the sites he wants.

Oh you are totally correct, he needs only to buy a copy of the sun news paper to see boobs, not only the non legal parts of the internet you expect to be blocked first!!!!!!!!!!!!

But you see what i mean, why waste all this time and money on something the people they are trying to protect (the young and the adults they will become) if it can actually BE UNDONE by the child.

also did you see what i did what that first sentence in the last post, couldn't resist!

Should we have complete and total freedom to kill or harm anyone we want to? Should we have complete freedom to expose any kind of media?

We being humanity?

If so, We already have this freedom.

Humanity needs to impose limits.

To discriminate against individuals?

Individuals need to impose limits on themselves to keep a health life style not society putting limits on individuals,

Porn is like having fast food when you could have had a steak.

Cool I love metaphorical examples

Well some have no access to steak so they take the fast food they can get.

the vast majority need to eat once in a while do they not?

Are you willing to allow some to starve because you view of their lives are unhealthy?

Do you think the porn industry has somehow diminished the beauty and sacred experience of sex?

This question is asking for personal opinion.

Has the one time you watched porn and felt uncomfortable diminished the beauty and sacredness of the experience you and your loved one have together?

Pornography doesn't seem to have any good side-effects on the human mind.

Pleasure and enjoyment are good side effects of a human mind when a person finds God or has some sort of epiphany and understanding are they not?

So it's likely they will be checking what people are looking at... I hope that police officers, doctors, members of parliament and judges will be under the same microscope!

There is nothing wring at all with watching porn ...as long as what your watching is legal!...it's no one else's business...if people dont like porn cool..dont watch it!... But don't tell others what to do or preach that it's a 'sin' or degrading...those are your hang ups....

There are two different , maybe three, conversations going on in this thread. Again at the end of the day I have NO faith that anything the government mandates is really on behalf of the people / children......I think I try and participate , acknowledge and maybe use my life experiences to make what ever little difference I can at this point. I have been brutally honest in my reactions and thoughts here on ATS....and talked about things I sometimes regret...lol....yeah, I know all us folks over 40 will hopefully just die, cause we are sooo stupid, and I think the kid that made that statement hopes we are all dead at 60 will consider we might have something to offer, but no worries, for me I already decided I'm willing to die to let our kids live if I ever have to make that decision.

No doubt there are some generation differences when it comes to porn, but believe it or not this "old" lady knows a few things, I grew up in the SF Valley, Porn Capital of USA.....and even if your not directly involved, which I wasn't, I saw things that I never really understood exactly, but make perfect sense to me now, parties my BF's band would play at having bedrooms with very expensive, professional cameras that were NOT the norm of the day, there was no internet, in those days, 80's, at least not to average homes.

It makes me sooo very sad that so many Men in this thread want to dismiss Women's feelings in this thread..Do you think we all weren't sexual, "horny kids", do you think we didn't see porn, and maybe even enjoy it as a 'couples" activity, do you think we didn't know most Men had Playboy mags, LOLOLO ....one of the funniest things I ever saw was my friend draw bikini's on one of her hubby's mags. Do you think we don't have Husbands, Lover's, Son's , Nephew's that we LOVE, and we don't try and understand that they are wired differently when it comes to visual stimulation and sexuality.

Single Men and Men that have a WILLING partner......Go For It.....but quit trying to convince the Women that have your back, that if you reject "extreme" porn, anal sex, fisting and rape porn as being somehow "uptight" your some kind of "Nazi" trying to shut down Men..... it's BS...Erotica, Fantasy and Mutual enjoyment of those things is all Good.....making your Partner feel that she doesn't fulfill your needs is cruel and selfish......and for the record, I am not fat, ugly, or frigid....soooo save that BS for girls that will take that crap to heart.....

This video is worth watching....get's more religious then I feel comfortable with, but worth listening to what these Women have to say.....

Most of us aren't disregarding women's feelings in this thread. It's the "Porn is evil and should be banned" crowd that we're dismissing (at least in my case). Just because some women don't like it doesn't mean that they can ram that attitude down everyone else's throat, and that they can lobby to tell me what I can and can't watch.

I've seen this before I also watched a documentary on netflix about the porn industry and also one about after porn careers are over what the people do with their lives , it was quite interesting .

Much like any other industry there are those that do seek to exploit others and that is a shame !

Porn isn't bad in the sense that it corrupts people , more like it helps them explore their sexuality and that is definitely something adults need to do it helps them find themselves and explore the things they like as being who is very emotionally and sexually charged !
