Good idea. Perhaps a porn tax should be considered as well. Hope they apply this in the states also.

So you're ok with them starting with porn, and then moving on to other topics, "for our own good". Whatever they decide is to "protect our children" is ok with you. Let's impose limits on what we can read so people don't get bad ideas then. Or on what we can watch on tv. That's what they're setting up here. Cameron even said they most likely would "start with" pornography. Which means there will be more coming.

No. I don't think that they should censor everything. I guess where I was coming from with that comment is that complete and total freedom is not the best in every case.

Should we have complete and total freedom to kill or harm anyone we want to?
Should we have complete freedom to expose any kind of media?

Lets put it this way. I am actually a left winger that believes in mild socialism. But I hate liberalism and the bilderbergers who want world government. The liberals cant do anything right lately and I have an awful hard time believing in "just mistakes".

People with a bad track record I dont trust them. That simple. Big government vs small government is all BS propaganda western style.

They play the race card, the sexist card, the poor card, etc. Get votes and money while discretly destroying civilisation.

Conservatives are worst in some cases but at least they dont pretend as much.

1) Natures only concern is that a species continues to survive, and if this were not the case none of us would be here to even discuss this;
2) In order that a species survives they need to have sex, and so the logical way to achieve this is that the strongest in a species (the one that overpowers the other and "sticks it in" to put it bluntly) has the sex drive;
3) If this condition is met then the male (as we have defined it) will ensure that the species survives by having an overwhelming desire to mate with the weaker of the species;

So, it is no good goading men for being "only interested in sex", etc, since a) nature made us this way and b) if this wasn't the case then you would not exist in order to complain.

Or in complaining that "pornography is degrading to women" - in the idealistic non existing world that we are all equal then maybe it is degrading, but actually in terms of way that the natural power that the sexuality of women holds over men and empowers women, then there will always be women who are willing to EXPLOIT this weakness in men for money, call it prostitution, pornography or whatever you like.

Pornographers have realised this truth and provided an artificial method for men to achieve stimulation and satisfaction to feed these in built desires.

So, the questions are:

1) if we remove the artificial stimulation then how will (a large number of) men achieve satisfaction;
2) Will the resulting outcome be good or bad for humanity generally, and specifically for women;
3) Are we so arrogant that we believe we can override nature and natural feelings with laws and rules;
4) Is it really pornography that is the root of the issue here, or is pornography a convenient ruse to pass laws that will exhibit further controls over wider elements of our lives?

Poernography has existed for eons, Playboy for example has been kicking around for decades - why has nothing been done about this in the past, there has been plenty of opportunity to remove porno mags from shops where kids go to buy sweets.

But there has been no desire to do it - so how is the internet suddenly evil? Most people would not have a clue how to access child or illegal porn.

It reminds me of the smoking ban - all places must immediately stop allowing smoking to "protect" non smokers and those who might somehow be "victimised" by smokers - but at the same time tobacco is allowed to be sold via supermarkets, as is alcohol, which results in people buying their alcohol and their tobacco from the same place and stopping going to pubs, thereby putting the pubs out of business, and raising the profits of the supermarkets, who, incidentally, our politicians hold huge numbers of sahres in, or are on the boards of directors.

The flip side to smoking is that now they are talking about banning smoking in your own car, or your own home - once you've given them the green light they won't stop, you'll be in prison for smoking a cigarette in your own home in your own time because someone else complains it might have "infringed their rights".

You'd have to be an idiot to support this.

The only way they'll get my porn is from my cold dead hands

I think the "cold" would be off-putting, but the "dead" might be useful, as in some who engage in the occasional act of self-gratification who intentionally put their hand to sleep to simulate it belonging to someone else.

The whole act of sex is demeaning and silly when looked at in a detached way, or even when watching it from the front row seats, but humans are ruled by hormones and the male sex way more so, as a rule, so as long as we are enslaved by the genitals, we should accept it as natural. Human's ability for metaphor makes sex weird... or weirder than it already is.

Any government making blanket moral injunctions is problematic and probably tied to votes from the black and white crowd... instead, they should stick to concrete health matters, like handing out free prophylactics to priests so altar boys won't get pregnant in their bums.

Perhaps more education about how it all goes down would be wise, along with some societal/psychological context for the roles of the sexes and the extremes sometimes found in porn? As long as they're concerned about bad parenting, that is. Make sex ed and porn critique mandatory, clinical, boring and prevalent and watch all the interest fade away.

Like it or hate it... Agree with porn or want it banned.... porn to one side for a moment,

What it basically comes down to now, is directly coming into someone's house and dictating to them what they can or cannot do within the confines of their private home.

No-one can agree with that surely?

What I do in the confines of my private address has no direct relation to anything in society.

Attack on freedom?
Some people hang onto ideologies so blindly.

Um yeah. The Freedom of Choice. Ever heard of it?? It means that I am allowed to choose for myself what I want or don't want instead of having some other arbitrary group of people making that choice for me.

It means taking care of myself. Actually being an adult and making my own choices. Not having to be treated like a child and having someone else decide my involvement within my own existence. These should NOT be strange new concepts for people but it would seem that they are indeed very alien to some of you still. That's too bad in my opinion.

Are you atleast able to wipe you own @$$ or do you have someone else take over that job for you too??

Don't get me wrong I believe very much in being able to do what you want to do. However there HAS to be limits.

Well, no, you believe very much that people should be able to do whatever you think is ok for them to do. But you do not believe in their right or ability to choose for themselves what they should be doing.

There are limits already in place btw for things which harm others such as child porn, non-simulated snuff porn, etc. However, normal porn is consentual and while we may not all agree on it's value or what is "quality porn", it doesn't violate the individuals right to choose for themselves whether or not to be involved. Because that right for the individual to choose, is in fact the meaning behind freedom and liberty.

they have already restricted firearms, motorcycles, alcohol, personal freedom, independent thought and now the base level of porn restriction is in place.

Anyone who supports this, don't worry they will get to something you like next...

I only watched porn once many years ago, it made me feel extremely uncomfortable even explicit sex scene in a movie does, there ya are sitting with the family and sudden the need for a sex scene when one really isn't necessary, it can be a love scene but leave something to the imagination.

Sex is sacred, sex is beautiful with a person you are deeply in love with. Sex is possibly the most sacred act between a couple the time the two become one. At this point it is not entertainment.

Do you think the porn industry has somehow diminished the beauty and sacred experience of sex?

Ever waited for that special moment, anticipation and discipline have their reward.

Porn is like having fast food when you could have had a steak.

Thats plain dumb. Survival instinct tells you the opposite

Exactly, that means you would be able to rise above those animal instincts into the realm of the super/natural.

That is more Paul Newman's famous quote which was why eat out when you could have steak at home. Not sure that sex should be shrouded in some kind of sacred spirituality – hell, when you wanna go to bed with someone, you just do. Sex is ... well sex. However, porn has taken it to another level and correct sex education is the order of the day, certainly not more mystification.

PEOPLE PLEASE!!

Can we remember the three little "Magic Words"

IN MY OPINION....

That is your opinion, you're welcome to it but don't define the act by your opinion. Certainly don't try and confine us all to YOUR opinion.

We are all different, live and let live eh?

What makes you think humans are special? And you make it sound as though women always do men a favor by sleeping with them. I have turned down women a few times in the past when I was not attracted to them. Of course its more natural for women to turn down men.

She stole a quote from Paul Newman and claimed it as her own and mystifies sex when it shouldn't be.

People generalise too much and its wrong. I am guilty of that myself! Every person is different. This us versus them is full of loopholes. Of course I only speak my opinion based on my perceptions and so does everyone else.

Or perhaps "Porn is like watching someone else eating a steak, because you have nothing to eat at home."

I must admit I haven't read the whole 28 pages on this topic so sorry if I'm repeating others thoughts on this subject.

Here's my view, this is an utterly pointless waste of time and resources on the British tax payer to the 'nth' degree. Those who are computer savvy can circumvent the filter easily, those who can't will go back to the old school top shelf porn mag in their local corner shop.

I find it incredibly sad when I see my national insurance and income tax come out of my wages for nothing. Nothing that benefits me at all, I have a hernia the size of a golf ball in my groin, went to the doctors to get it seen to, only to be told that because its not life threatening he cannot refer me to an NHS surgeon as their resources are stretched. What a joke I've paid into the system for years and years and can't use the resources that I've paid for.

ATS staff please don't claim my post is off topic as I've stated my tax money is funding this porn block and I'm against it so at least people like me are getting health cover to which were forced into paying!

Opinions are great as long as they have a basis in realism. I don't care for anyone who spouts nonsense. I have lived enough years on this planet and been through my fair share of # to know that life is about the 'now' and not some esoteric bull crap.

As a result it's like any addiction, you get less of an effect over time and find (real) girls less attractive even compared with most girls from the porn. So being alone in that stage seems better. Let alone the erection gets less with too much porn every day.

So many guys get erection problems with too much porn! and as he said if you have this problem, just try to quit watching porn and watch the results and then guys will start looking for girls when they are off this addiction.

Now to forbid is a far stretch but it has got far stretched consequences but it's good you get aware of the effects.
Many young men suffer as result where they are not able to get a relation/girl.

Current research suggests that "sex addiction" does not exist, it seems people suffering from "sex addiction" just have high libido. The American Psychiatric Association does not recognize it as a mental disorder.

#6 You need to watch...hell, everyone needs to see this hooter. Who doesn't like a good laugh now and then...'Sex, Lies, and Addiction' is it called? Starring the heavenly pairing of hairy hamlin and lisa rinna. If nothing else, you get a full dose of plastic surgery gone bad. It is so bad that it is good.

Thank me later.

There is to be NO sexual activity that is not focused on ME!

I swear to God she says this, from lips that look like split knackwurst.
