It was then that Silva resisted and fought the deputy

Why would you resist a uniformed officer who has the right to arrest you for public intoxication?

Here at the marina. Some guy was drunk and it took him several minutes to figure out the combination for the gate. I stood patiently waiting for him. And he finally gets the gate open and he holds the gate, I say "Thank you". Then 30 seconds later he yells "F you!".

I was like "What"? "Do I need to call the police"

And retorted.

I counter attacked verbally as he walked down the dock.

My final statements with his long hair "Was if you are going to do public intox, THEN ACT LIKE A HIPPIE!" Free love. Peace. Friendly.

It makes me understand why religions like Islam where it is illegal to sell alcohol. It's juvenile!

Disrespecting a police officers authority to arrest you for putting the public safety and peace at risk with public intox is not JUVENILE. If you are an adult, its dangerous. You are putting the police officer in a zone where he feels threatened.

"Cops"...what a joke.

You have to realize the mentality of these people. They are too sorry to get a job at Mcdonalds so they go get a job that allows them to brandish a weapon (power) so they can get back at all the bullies that picked on them in school. Show me ONE cop that went into "law enforcement" because they were such lovers of the law. If they really respected the law that much they would have been lawyers...

For all you armchair bada$$es that say you would do something if you were there, I beg to differ. We aren't reading about YOU in the news taking a stand. The hesitantcy we ALL feel to intervene is due in part to the overall brainwashing we endure that constantly tells you to honor the men in uniform. Respect has to be earned, not expected.

What needs to happen is one of 2 things. Anytime an LEO is involved in an incident like this, they need to be served with a citizens arrest (with a warrant) for:
1. obstruction of justice.
2. dereliction of duty.
3. conduct unbecoming of an officer.
4. violation of oath.
5. terroristic acts against an american citizen.
6. undue administration of local law.
7. attempted assault.
8. possesion of a weapon while under the influence of medication. (almost ALL leo's are on some kind of medication)
(I can't legally drive with a painkiller in me yet these bozos can go to work taking Adavan for their "stress"?)
9. misinterpretation of laws and enforcement proceedures..

or...the next time it happens, joe public just finds out where they hang out and they are surrounded by a group of law abiding citizens and confronted for their unlawful indescretions.

I don't know if it is just me, but it looks like this scenario with leo's is becoming more common and I don't see a happy ending to it. It very well could be the spark that makes the rodney king fiasco look like a picnic.

where are all the folks now saying, "They are just regular people like you and me, with families" and...blah, blah, blah....
yeah, right. They are steroided up animals and should be treated as such and approached with caution. I tend to look at all of them as raccoons with rabies. You don't really want to be around them.

When the large riots start here in the us of a, and they will, I bet these leo's have no problem tazing, beating, spraying and or maiming their own brother, sister or friend.....

But hey, they ARE just doing their job and they aren't in it for the money......

???

Someone needs to write a bill making it illegal for the police to confiscate recording devices. If the public is subject to the survailance state, then the police and all other public officials should be as well.

In fact, lawmakers should be subject to survailance more than anyone else. Every single one of their phonecalls and meetings should be recorded and available for public scrutiny.

It's already illegal. They of course are working with the system so the system doesn't prosecute them with passion like it would any other person.

Have you considered going to your local news station about this? Once you're in the spotlight, you can't be silenced so easily.

Counter 'attacking" as you call it is 'assualt' If the cops were called, it was you that continued to 'attack' a drunk. Simple as that. It is better in those cases to knock out the drunk. How do I know? I have been in that situaiton many times.

Example - At bar a girl was drunk. Her boyfriend then tried to 'confront' those of us who were politely telling her to leave. When he got loud, telling us what he was going to do and kick our asses, I stepped in and hit him.

Cops showed up, said I defended myself and he was arrested for drunk disordely and assault. Sound strange but it is better to just let it go...or knock his ass out in self defense.

This is a sad case and why they should legalize Marinara and go back to prohibition.

When there is no accountability ,then consequences cease ,government no longer represents the people but rather the interests of the few ,these incidents will only increase , those who abuse authoritative powers has become alarmingly high, but this lack of respect for the masses is not a notion by the few but rather an attitude that is being endorsed by the higher ranks because its really a matter of ,if there were consequences than these cowards would not have conducted themselves without any regard for justice ,subdue and detain becomes punish and maim.
At the G20 in Toronto I got an up close view of how the military/industrial and now government complex conducts themselves when it comes to any type of non compliance ,and believe me I was in the military and when a mini van flys up and the side door pops open and 4 clowns fly out[2 for the legs 2 for the arms] ,with no visible identification what so ever ,and plasticuffs ,brother that's called instigator targeting and removal,no I.D.visible, no complaints can be filed welcome to 1984 the Orwellian dream.
Have no fear though all you law abiding citizens who condone this bull# its only a matter of time before your in front of the runaway train, doubt it?just remember, tyranny can never cease with one group in order for it to be implemented effectively all demographics must comply with corporate interests through the draconian tactics of government forces.
At this point there is no way of reforming or modifying the social system as to prevent it from depriving people of dignity and autonomy.
I have digressed from the original story ,however like all cancers the manifestation of this insidious organism will threaten our basic human rights.

I've rarely seen any good come out of bars even when I went there.

Curious that they are called BARS and you go CLUBBING.

Often the behavior by the drunks inside can lead to peering out from behind iron jail BARS and police BATONS clubbing you.

I recently saw a front page article of the town newspaper of some tough guy with a buzz cut landed in jail for 20 years for punching someone.

You operate with a slightly different mentality than the one I saw in the Coast Guard. We were gathered for monthly muster and one of the enlisted petty officers showed up with a black eye. The Captain was angered to the point that he called out the guy in front of the entire base at muster and embarrassed him and told him "You are going see me after muster and explain that black eye"

Walk the line in the service
but ,most times people are all talk. I was taught if someone tells you taht they are going to kick you arse, you have already won the fight most time.s.

Back in the day, you might have words, tussle and the next time you saw the person you had a drink etc and laughed it off.

Today, anything you say can be construed as assault and people are crazy. This is why I have a concealed carry now.

In this case, overzealous officers are too blame not just the alcohol. The family needs to make sure that they get some kind of jsutice as the mother says or it will happen again. Police have a tough job but 8 officers and a dog. I do not think Mike Tyson hyped up on Angel Dust would need that response. Very sad story.

As far as the cell phones, get used to it. This is the new norm.

The poster isn't talking about the real problem here which is why no one stepped in to stop 2 cops from beating this man to death. What's wrong with everyone? If I seen two cops beating my neighbor to death with batons when I knew he had a family inside his house and hes not a criminal I couldn't stand by watch it with my #%*cking camera phone. Where's your courage? Just because they're cops does not make them judge jury and executioner, they are just people. I know they can charge you for aiding a criminal but if you open your eyes and know what they're doing is wrong then all you have to do is stop it. Not injure or harm them in any way but just stop them from doin it and protect yourself in the process. Police have an illusion that they can't be touched only because we allow them to, the people rule and it will always be so. So don't let police push you into corners before you choose to bite, look out for your neighbors and fellow countrymen.

I see where your coming from but unfortuently it just doesnt work that way here in Australia, If you hit so much as touch a cop they will do you for assulting police and your looking at 6 years, realistically and as sick as this does not matter at all what the police are doing you interfere with them in any way they will simply throw the book at you.

Would you really be willing to go to jail for plus 4 years, not to mention the aftermath ?? My life has been #house since I got out once you go in you can say goodybye to 80% of jobs you apply for, goodluck getting any sort of loan, I totally agree with you about standing up for justice but still, its just not worth it !

those people are all idiots.

anyone who knows anything even remedial about computers (which phones are) knows that deleted data can be recovered. i got 10 different programs that recover deleted data. i'm looking at them right this second. i think the cops should go to each of the witnesses houses and beat them to death for being MR. lol.

and forget all of that, there never shoulda been any need to recover it. look, if i record the cops beating a man profusely about the head, lol, and they come in my direction seeing that i'm recording, i'm running as far and as fast as my adrenaline charged legs can take me.

cops = authoritarian fascist lap-dog yes-men who have low IQs, lower charisma and hygiene skills, and they very easily succumb to herd mentality. they will f*** your day up, if you have damning evidence against them you have the right to run, don't let anyone tell you different. seek justice on a higher level of the institution. i'd run and then call maybe the state boys, feds, governor, whoever i need to in order to remain alive. actually before i'd call them, maybe a lawyer haha. quickly upload of course.

i'd like to add that i know nothing of how everyone ended up in that situation in the 1st place. i don't know the charges, the threat the man posed, or anything. all i know is that was wrong. there's never a reason for multiple cops to beat anyone to death, even the mythical bin laden.

i was gonna say that someone should've killed the cops right there (if you yell at them or fight them they kill you/ strategically the only way to end this and survive is to "off" them right then and there) but i suddenly realized that any loss of life is bad, not to mention ultra-punishable. therefore my position is that all americans should have tasers and those plastic zippy handcuffs haha.

if i was there i would've leapt deftly into action, drawing my dual tasers from their holsters and instantly downing two of them. then i'd drop the tasers and disarm the baton from one with my hands as i kick the baton from the fourth's. grabbing the taser in the belt of the officer nearest me i'd take him, then lunge at the other who by now has his gun nearly drawn, i'd incapacitate and cuff him, then quickly cuff the others in the order i took them.

but in reality i'd get my a** handed to me, in reality i'd have run with my evidence til i was a state away haha. but i'd have probably saved the guy cause i'd yell at the cops that i was recording, making them come after me, leading into the chase scene.

those people are all idiots. from the cops, to the guy who got beat to death, to the witnesses. i don't like any of it.

this was hateful to police but there are many good cops and heros. it's not an easy job and sometimes force is absolutely needed.

The best course of action is to download the necessary programs to stream the videos live, and if a scumbag ever tries to take your phone, keep recording and ask them if they have secured a warrant to seize your property. Then you can prove in court not only the illegal act, but the attempt to cover it up.

In this instance, that would be second degree murder, would it not? Cut and dry.

That my friend is why there is no "Good Cops"! If there were then bad cops would not do this kind of action in public for fear of being IDed by video and the good cops going after them so that the Once Good Name Police Officers had would not have been tarnished as it is now.

Once again I have never been in jail worse crime is speeding..... I taught my girls now young ladies you see a cop change direction and go the opposite way as nothing good can come in a contact with them.

Now here is off topic but funny occurrence. Two years ago my mother died and she was to have a police, Fire and Ambulance escort of her coffin to the cemetery as on her island she was someone also a winner of the Clair Barton Award the highest Red Cross award for disaster volunteer.... I have not been visiting the local town Hadlock Washington since 1999 but I am a dead ringer for my mother or so they say whom ever they are.... My birth Mother was a volunteer Dept sheriff for 10 years in this tiny tiny insignificant town. My two girls were in the back seat of my nice rental car from SeaTac Airport. I was pulled over going to the dinner my mothers lover was holding for 30 people at a local restaurant. I pulled up to a "T" intersection which had a stop sign and I had signaled to get in the right turn only lane. Signal reapplied (I was a professional driver in in the Army drove for the West Coast Air Defense General among other jobs) I stopped then turned right. Immediately full siren and lights. Remember I am jet lagged as I just flew in from Heathrow ergo I jumped. Cursing that I did not get an international lic but my full unblemished English one that shows no offenses (how about that your driving record recorded on your driver's Lic!). I asked why I was pulled over. Rude copper demanded to know what my relationship was with the two young girls in the back seat. LOL one is 27.5 and other is 29 this year..... I asked again for my offense and he placed his hand on his service automatic and repeated his demand.....

What is funny 4 years ago I told ATS members when we used to have coppers defend bad cops who read my post about teaching my girls to fear the cops that I must have been a criminal..... Lovely close ranks hup two three four. Point is my girls read this as I proudly showed them as to drive a point home.

My fellow members I never used to be like this when I was 18 in the Army. Driving cross country I spent a few nights in the klink as I could not afford a motel and I was welcomed as I was in uniform that was semi impressive.

When we arrived at the dinner now late my girls bad mouth the cops saving me the embarrassing task.

When we got back to England both girls said that their first viewing of American cops echoed their daddies lesson!

Star and sorry only one Flag OP.... One day these people will come for the prepper's food supply! How many murders will happen before Americans say enough is enough?

Are you kidding? they wont get any murder charge, nada. cops can rape, torture, beat up, Anyone, kids, babies, women, elderly, sick, near dead,

And no one will do #.

They can even murder and abuse their own families, no One will do #.

It's ONLY when they have to bury a family member they murdered that the State will do something but Only so the State doesn't have to pick up the tab.

All COPS is, is CRIMINAL with LICENSE, to murder, whatever they want...just as long as they can extort enough monies for the Crime Bosses they work for.

And no authority ever going to stop them, because the authority is more demonic than they are...

So, the one thing we CAN do, is stop repeating the Lies, the Headline Should goes like this,

Criminal Cops MURDER IN COLD BLOOD another defenseless man, then bully bystanders and STEAL camara. Now the Widow, and the Four children whose Father the Criminal Cops cold blooded murdered and beat to death,

Will now be faced with homelessness, possibly even the mother faced with Rape as sure one if not more Murdering Cops will threaten her with Rape and Death if she complains...

They will apply now for housing and food stamps to survive but the People who support Murdering Cops will say, NO WAY, DIE Biatch, and then the Crowds will yell

USA. USA. USA.

If she Does by luck get some food stamps AFTER she's forced, especially in CA to wash cars or work the street corner to BURY her MURDERED HUSBAND whom the COPS murdered in cold blood,

Not to fret, That will be paid for by the same Tax Payers, well the POOR ONES AT LEAST, who chant

USA. USA. USA...

Meanwhile, in North Korea, there is laughter at yet one more stupid propaganda film about how eeeevil the NK Commies are and how FREE AmeriKKKa is.

OK. Now, let by bones be by bones, he's just another dead peasant, no biggie, just a number,

Hear Walmart has another mark down and isn't their a game on tonight? YeeHaw...ain't America Great!!! Praise Jebus, Wes so Righteous!

You know I don't own a weapon. All I have is a can of mace. But generally as I have gotten older I tend to avoid places that I am going to run into trouble in. So, I don't need one.

Some bars are okay if it is a reputable place and their clientele is reputable.

Generally lower grade bars with a clientele that is probably going to be a problem when they are drinking is a place I would avoid.

For example, you could go to a bar on any military base and probably not have any trouble or a civilian bar with a similar clientele. And then there are bars before you even walk in, YOU KNOW, and then when you see the clientele by the way they make eye contact, YOU KNOW there will be a problem versus a friendly bar on a military base.
