oh FFS - not this crap again

the DHS has not bought 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition - they have negotiated fixed price contracts for upto 1.6 billion rounds over 5 years

Anyways that still puts 1.6bil rounds of outlawed ammo in their hands within 5 years... Still something to be concerned about is it not?

Found a probable source:

Dixon said one of the contracts would allow Homeland Security to buy up to 750 million rounds of ammunition over the next five years for its training facilities. Read more:

Forbes had a pretty good article on the subject the other day, too, in terms of excess and the apparent hypocrisy. Kind of made me laugh a little:

Supply and demand......They buy them all, the prices skyrocket for normal people who can't buy them anywhere.....

Then once the supply is low enough, tax the crap out of them and make tons of money, as they laugh all the way to the bank....

Ummm.....That's a fairly rediculous assertion to make...In case you hadn't noticed with all the urban combat training...the city streets have become the battlefield. Do you really think that a combat use rate of 20 sustained years worth of ammunition is only for practice? I sure wish I had the kind of clarity it took for you to make this statement...seriously...share out the good stuff. Hollow points are designed to bring an UNARMORED target down and keep them there that makes their target set the general population....NOT some prepped and ready standing army...........

IMO, that somebody is the "Firearms, Guns & Ammunition" lobbying industry who used BOTH the Republican National Committee (RNC) and the Democrat National Committee (DNC).

RNC - helped increase sale with scare tactics.

DNC - helped increase sale with passing regulation to ban assault weapons and then turn around and buy billions bullets to further drive the cost up.

Perfect examples of bipartisan strategic market manipulation to help a lobbying industry.

I heard that majority or all of those bullets they purchased were hollowpoints. Everyone that shoots a gun knows you never want to take hollow points to the range because there meant for one thing...taking someone down and they cost too much to waste at a range. There like $20-25 for a box of 20 maybe more in different states. Hollow points do have a lesser fatality rate than FMJ that's why cops use them, but the cop will just unload his entire magazine on you. No chance of surviving that.

DHS is gearing up for a fight.

In reading some of these post I am left a little bewildered about why you see ambiguity in what is going on. Let me sum up the facts for you if you are not processing the information all together.

1.) Obama has publicly cited a need for a strong, well armed domestic military presence INSIDE of the United States to combat terrorism. One that is just as well funded and equipped as the US military. This despite the absence of any terror activity of any real threat within our borders.

2.) The TSA operates on an 8.1 Billion dollar budget per year. They have been around for roughly ten years. In that time, they have managed to harass and terrorize 3 year old children, 80 year old cripples in wheelchairs, violate the rights of hundreds of thousands of citizens and reign hell on every domestic airport in the United States.

What they have failed to do in this time frame, from their inception until now is......... Apprehend 1 terrorist.

3.) Our Police force has been militarized. They have all changed to black uniforms to convey authority as opposed to protection and service. Take a close look, even the most rural districts in America now boast SWAT Teams. You could have one local police officer on duty but if you pose a threat, there will be 36 tactically trained and armed agents at your location within minutes. This is fact, not fiction.

4.) The DHS is amassing an army. They are hiring non stop even in recession. They are administering drills in every single district across America every day and in fact where doing so about 14 miles from Sandy Hook when that happened if you want some insight. They are purchasing more weapons than are needed for active war in a 20 year period and setting up checkpoints anyplace they think they can get away with.

5.) Gun grabbers........... About all I need to say.

Stop kidding yourselves and stop presenting weak arguments on why they could be doing this or that. We are witnessing things that have never happened in the country and are seeing them at a pace that is leaving many like deer in headlights and there is a reason for this.

Our government, like it or not is preparing for something that we as a populace do not know about and in saying that it is NOT fear mongering but only applying critical thinking and common sense as it concerns their OWN actions and polices. This, here and now, what we call America is not the same place our founders planted their first seeds nor built their houses.

The land is the same but as we have been warned in 100's of quotes, freedom is only available to those who will mind it and keep it safe. We as a society have not done so and are in fact to blame for a rogue and abusive government that does not care or attend to our rights. If you choose to be pro active and think that this can be turned around then as a start you will need to assert every right you have at every chance you get. There is no other way without blood to change the flow of the political coup and paradigm change that is sweeping over us currently.

Yeah, I bet your right, I bet somebody has an investment in a bullet company, I bet that's why DHS has bought 1.8 billion bullets, a ton of which are armor piercing and probably why they purchased thousands of heavily armored mine sweeper / tanks and over 7 thousand fully automatic weapons. All for domestic distribution and use. I'm sure your right, somebody has got an investment, that's why.........

no, you're right

they are going to wage a 20 year war against US citizens with an army loyal to obama

Your like an ostrich. When there is a problem, you just stick your tiny head in the sand, laughing to yourself no doubt. Not knowing that even though you can't see what is going on around you, all the specs of sand that you are breathing in while denying reality will eventually adhere to your lungs and lead to a slow, painful and uninformed death anyway.

You laugh only because in my opinion you don't have the mental capacity to understand current events as a whole, you only grasp the little snippets that touch your tiny insignificant part of the local world. I am by no means trying to insult you, I am only being honest about your personality profile as it would seem to fit your denial and summary dismissal of the gravity of current events and how it relates to all of us as a species.

You need to think a little bigger than..... Haha hahahahah were all gonna kill eachother over Obama right bro.... hahahaha.

Please do.

Anyone that can't see the writing on the wall at this point, is being willfully blind.

It's a conspiracy theory, they said.

It's for target practice, they said.

It's really not that many considering all of the training, they said.

Well, is Forbes 'main stream' enough for you? Is the fact that people in political spheres are now questioning these purchases 'main stream' enough for you?

It's no longer a conspiracy theory, it's conspiracy fact, folks. And, the American people have a right to know what their purpose is especially considering that they are paying for all of this with our money.

Actually I saw someone run the numbers including all the departments involved in dhs and it was still a very high number per person. Then they subtracted the people that have office jobs in these agencies that wouldn't ever use a gun and it was crazier.

I mean come on. This is weird but it's starting to become so obvious that occams razor would even suggest a bad sccenario. You have 1,6 billion + (I think there was another purchase this year) bullet purchase that isn't for overseas use, 2000 + armored vehicles for domestic use, 6000 I think it was assault rifles ordered, the NDAA, the legalization of propaganda in the us for the first time since the 40s, an expansive attack on the 2nd amendment, miltary and police joint ops. and you have the military running excercises, where the fire blanks from military choppers above American cities.

The unverified reports of foreign soldiers doing ops inside the US with our soldiers, and unverified reports that soldiers have been pushed on whether or not they would fire on civilians. There was also another I missed from the verified list, but it's slipping my mind.

I mean we have our politicians, who are the worst calling this into question something is up. I mean they used, what, like 22 million rounds in the whole afghanistan war as of last year or the year before that. I may be wrong but I think I read that. You can find similar info elsewhere. Since it doesn't look like assault weapons are going to be banned I would expect limited and insane ammo markups to continue, and the illegalization of mags with a higher capacity than 10 rnds. Maybe more for some handguns, but they are going to try to kill 30 round mags.

LOL! So easy to answer. They will be used on American citizens.

It actually makes perfect sense. Crony capitalism, someone is giving bullet contracts to their buddies.

Just like the Iraq war, Haliburton and no bid contracts....

This is what you are supposed to think. What you need to do is think.

2,714 light armored personnel carriers, 38,000 drones, 1.6 billion rounds of .40 caliber hollow point ammo (man killer ammo). They have been setting the table for a long long time, the patriot act (act one) NDAA (act two) the purchase of all this ordinance timed with a very possible collapse of the dollar (last act exit stage left).

You cant put it together that this is much more than cronie capitalism?

I really don't know what to make of it.

There is no reason, If I am understanding correctly, for that many hollow point bullets. One would think they would use "ball" ammunition for paper target practice. Unless they want to target shoot with what they will be shooting on the job.

Hollow points are pretty much used for one thing. To expand as it hits a body and rip/tear flesh as it penetrates.

Like I said, I don't know what to make of it.

One would think they would be buying up long range tactical rounds, such as the .223/5.56mm round, but maybe they are counting on the military for that?

At any rate, if they have any nefarious plans in store, surely they must know the number of veterans, former veterans, police or just average American citizens that can shoot the testicles off a fly at a hundred yards.

Before 9/11 there was no DHS.
If it is all innocent, and just normal smart purchasing (locking in purchase options for long term contract) then why pray tell are congressmen asking about it and GETTING NO PROPER ANSWER.
I paid over eight thousand myself in federal income tax alone last year. If that buys even four thousand hollow points I want the folks spending that money to answer the hell up when asked, and say thank you Mr. Taxpayer.

Janet's answer will be the same as the last one to answer "what difference does it make! whether it was five hundred or a million point six bullets that we bought? They will all come out of a smoking gun anyway."

We all know deep down they are prepping for global financial collapse. I would say the time frame for complete collapse is 2015. There will be rioting, looting, bankers strung up and they will bear down on us with drones and then shoot the rest until we comply with martial law. Then the data from the fusion centers will allow them t round up the most likely leaders and known dissenters prior to collapse. At least the assault weapons ban failed this time around so you can go down fighting.

The problem is that these representatives of the people step up and ask questions publicly, like they're all concerned.

But a few weeks go by, everyone forgets and nothing ever comes of it.

My theory is that the reps only want to be on record as to having questioned it, but that's all. They don't really care.

The people sleep.

Could anyone imagine if what's going on in Cyprus happened in the US? If banks just up and closed one day, how long would you think it would take for people to go absolutely berserk? I say hours. The welfare system in America has enabled people to live a dependent lifestyle. I'm certain these people aren't using their free time to become self sufficient. Look at guns, our culture raises us to love guns. Many people have a lot of guns.

This is a three headed snake heading our way. The welfare has to stop at some point. Banks pissing away our money in their little casino game has to stop. People need to take responsibility for themselves at some point.

It makes sense that a government entity would prepare itself for one of those cards to fall, making the whole house fall down.

Excuse the pun but it's in the cards at this point. Something needs to fall. My advice? Get the hell out of dodge if there is civil unrest, at that point all you are is a target. Judging by the choice of rounds they won't be shooting to injure.

Actually he does have a good point. The Bush family makes a lot of money off of the military. So when you are president wouldn't it be smart to start an agency so that you can make even more money?

No, he doesn't have a good point.

The DHS was created specifically as a result of a false flag operation perpetrated by the US government to propel America into foreign wars to boost domestic economy by securing foreign resources and gain military footing and political clout by establishing American Military presence throughout the Middle East.

As a secondary effect and one that I am sure was tightly planned as a "side effect" we were introduced to the lowest amount of personal freedom and liberty this country has ever seen and that came in the form of the Patriot Act. This set of laws that was sold as being for foreign terrorists is overwhelmingly to police, repress, spy on and prohibit freedoms and the privacy of American citizens in violation of our Constitutional rights.

We are becoming the very terrorists that bill was truly created for and not by accident but by design.

This by the DHS, the largest ammunition purchase in government history (excluding war time), of which a large sum is ammunition not fit nor used for training and outlawed by the Geneva Convention. This would not done for profit as it seems in traditional sense. Not at a time when our domestic economy and in fact much of the rest of the worlds is in utter chaos and decay, not now. This, is obviously not some play for monetary gain. This is an attempt to keep peace by arming for war.

Shock and Awe, remember? It sure worked in the Iraq campaign, I'm betting they think it will work if things go south here at home as well. Far fetched? Yeah....... Right.
edit on 19-3-2013 by Helious because: (no reason given)

I agree with your overall point, and this may be a little off topic and nitpicking, but its just an honest question....
You said part of the false flag operation was to secure "foreign resources", what are the resources(specifically) or is this speculation(and if so that's fine, just wondering)? I often hear this stated and usually just followed by blanket statements, and I'm not trolling, just trying to find out if there is something I missed. From your post you seem pretty knowledgeable.

I am questioning this again because i hear it often and i was in OIF, and witnessed no "securing of resources".
Just looking for examples, thanks!
