I could point out that I do have a knowledge of Islam that allows me to debate with Muslims on a level that you clearly do not. In other words, I know what I am talking about

you have indeed clearly spent a lot of time gathering and studying resources to use in your quest, including some from sites that clearly exist for the purpose of battling against/debating against/attempting to provoke islam, perhaps you have read the qur'an, idk.
i own a copy myself, given to me by a former colleague many years ago, which i have only skimmed through on a few occaisions, again many years ago (a summariized version of At-Tabari, Al-Qurtubi and Ibn Kathir blah blah, published by Al-Hidaayah, quite possibly Saudi funded iirc). i have as little interest in it as i do the bible or torah, and i do not need to read one page to discuss how islam impacts my life, or the nature of people who are of the islamic faith - i simply know far too many muslims to need to (i have even stayed and worked with muslim and christian bedu tribes in Sinai who were more than friendly with each other, so my experience is not limited to the midlands and the north of england), and i recognise a hatchet job and propaganda when i see it. old religious books also have some pretty crazy stuff in them. i may as well judge all christians by leviticus....very few take that stuff so seriously as you and christian or muslim fanatics do.
as for newspapers, i generally buy the telegraph, the guardian makes me puke, and at least i can laugh at the daily mail.
as for knowning what you talk about, as i clearly see you as talking about prejudice and hate (thinly vieled), i would of course have to agree with you.

I wonder why

And yet you are ever trying to sweep under the rug the problems with Islam, Spiramirabilis.
I wonder why

Speaking out against people calling for the deaths of those they disagree with SHOULD happen.
Speaking out against the mistreatment of women which happens in Islam SHOULD happen.
What is amazing is that there are people out there who run around screaming that
we shouldn't dare point out the problems with Islam because it isn't nice or whatever.

POPPYCOCK.
If there is a problem ... point it out.

Pointing out that there are pedophiles infiltrating the Catholic church priesthood doesn't
make me an anti-Catholic bigot. It just means I'm stating a truth and exposing an
issue that effects a lot of people. Pointing out that the hypocrisy of there being some
Muslims who scream that they dont' have freedom of speech (when in fact they do) and
at the same time they also hold up signs saying to behead those who 'insult islam' ...
well thats an absurdity that needs to be exposed ... not swept under the rug out of some
false sense of political correctness.

well i cant answer the specific questions re the post you reply to, but i can provide some pics of the Hajj, i found them pretty fascinating, never having seen more than folk circling the kabba on the news every once in a while..

boingboing.net...

there is a whole world out there, and much of it is not christian, capitalist, european or north american or the various other things that can define western culture - they dont want us dead and we should get to know each other, it enriches our lives.

Some great pictures there and the above is exactly what tptb don't want. Imagine if we united with muslims and learnt each others scriptures, realised that we are learning the same thing and worked out who the real problem was.. Thats why the Media cannot be trusted when it comes to these issues.

I do see a lot of hate on this thread but pretty much all of is coming from you and a few others.

The Muslims actually debate on issues. It is quite interesting and sometimes enlightening talking to them.

You and the few other self styled protectors of Islam, on the other hand, like to insult people for discussing that the majority of British & American Muslims polled oppose free speech.

What is so hateful about discussing that?

Here is another one for you to get your knickers in a twist

55 percent of Danish Muslims think it should be forbidden to criticize religion.

Orla Borg - Muslimer i Danmark: Forbudt at kritisere religion

So we have 3 survey that respectively show that the majority of British (68%), American (58%) and Danish (55%) Muslims don't agree with free speech if it criticizes Islam.

Why is it hateful to discuss this?

There's been a changing of the guard I see - I wonder how many guards there are?

The Muslims are not what you think they are - they're not what you say they are

In many ways, Islam and Muslims are a favored minority. But ordinary people are no longer buying it.

Ordinary people no longer buy what exactly? What are your plans then ollncasino - you ordinary person?

Don't tell me. Tell the people so obsessed by something that they get down on their hands and knees 5 times a day to pray to Mecca. How obsessed do you have to be to do that?

Why do you care how they pray?

Obsession - it's an interesting thing

You're not on a quest - you're on a mission

I am still puzzled why Islam is somehow exempt from criticism in your mind.

Its a religion practiced by 1.6 billion people. It can look after itself.

On this thread we are discussing the fact that some muslims demand free speech for themselves, which they already have, but at the same time demand that others can't have that same free speech.

How did the Muslims come to be your pet project?

1 - I have 25,289 posts over 9 years at this site. I post on a large variety of subjects.
2 - I am not the subject, so why do you continually deflect to me when Islam and the lack of freedom of speech is the subject?
3 - Why are you continually turning a blind eye to the problems some in Islam cause? When did defending the indefendable become your pet project?

Bigotry won't fix the world FlyersFan

ahhhh yes ... when someone states a fact that you dont' want exposed, pull out the tired ol' 'bigotry' card. How about you address the subject instead of making false claims against the posters here?

And your truth is not the only truth

We aren't discussing 'my truth. We are discussing TRUTH. Plain and simple. The TRUTH is that some muslims are demanding 'free speech' rights, which they already have but at the same time they are threatening those who say things that they don't like. Expose the truth about Muhammad being a murderer, and certain muslims have a fit and demand your head be chopped off. That's the truth. Not 'my truth'. Just TRUTH.

Personally, I couldn't care about the religion any less.

But you live in Aus and proclaim islam the right way, and our way corrupt and backward.

Invent a door, will you. One that will not hit your bum on the way out. Take that invention with you when you leave to somewhere more appropriate for your desires. Ask Mideast, he might know a good place.

I said: Bigotry won't fix the world FlyersFan

and it won't

:-)

I'll leave you to your thread topic then

You did ask him "How did the Muslims come to be your pet project? " so you clearly were trying to make him the subject.

You haven't thrown in any references to the Nazis for a while. You are slipping.

I'm out of here ollncasino - you kids have fun

It will be interesting to see where this thread goes - maybe in another 20 pages you'll be able to demonstrate how the wicked Muslims are going to take away your freedom of speech

I'm gearing myself up to be truly frightened...

:-)

Thats not correct. I have done some study on Islam and thats the difference between me and you. Not only that, I have done study on the bible, I have checked out the vedas, I have even looked at Asian Mythology and plenty of other teachings. I am not limited to one doctrine or ideology whether its Christianity, Islam, Democracy, KKK or Nazi Germany etc.. I spend a little bit of time on them all when I find them.
